THE RAPTOR: FPS is a 49-page, full-color, one-shot comic, written, drawn, colored, and lettered by comic book artist Blair D. Shedd.
A missing video camera, the Russian Mob, and the masked vigilante known as The Raptor come into play in THE RAPTOR: FPS.
Journalism student Kathy Walsh and her boyfriend Paul Clemens have been found dead, their video camera missing. Realizing their own personal connection to the victims, detectives Jason Hawking and Willow Barnes of the NYPD Special Crimes Squad take the case.
As the detectives get deeper into their investigation, they discover that not only might their suspects be part of the Russian Mob, but that The Raptor may have a private stake in the case as well.
BLAIR SHEDD has illustrated everything from children's books and logos, to novel covers and sketch cards. In the comic book world he's illustrated issues of some very indie books as well as pinups in AFTERBURN for Red 5 Comics and THE GUILD for Dark Horse, and illustrated stories and arcs in ZOMBIEBOMB! for Terminal Press and DOCTOR WHO for IDW Publishing.
THE RAPTOR: FPS marks Shedd's comic book writing debut.
More of his work can be found at www.oneGemini.com.
"I've always enjoyed the bouncy, enthusiastic artwork of Blair Shedd, and now -- with The Raptor: FPS -- I've come to enjoy his writing as well. A solid story with twists and turns aplenty, this is a superhero book worth your time and support."
--Erik Burnham, writer of IDW's Ghostbusters
Some of the funds raised will pay me a small page rate as artist, in order to keep my family in mac and cheese during the production period of the book. I'm taking no page rate as writer, colorist, or letterer, and will be paying many basic expenses out of pocket. The rest of the funds raised will be used to pay fees related to the Kickstarter campaign, print the first limited-run of copies, go towards promotion of the comic (flyers, prints, cards, trade show banners, possible convention travel expenses, etc), and produce and ship incentives to the backers.
When complete, the comic will be shopped around to various publishers, in hopes of further adventures told to an even wider audience.
"Shedd's comics make love to your eyes while stealing your wallet and kicking you in the teeth. It's surprisingly pleasant."
-- Joshua Hale Fialkov, Harvey, Eisner, and Emmy nominated writer of Tumor, Echoes, and Batman/Superman
As a backer, you will receive regular updates on the project, from work-in-progress artwork to preliminary sketches that won't be shown anywhere else to links and schedules of live-streaming drawing shows -- in addition to all of the other awesome stuff you'll receive for your pledge (see that nifty column on the right).
The script is complete, as are a small stack of pages, but there's a lot more to do. I'm aiming for a debut of the comic by no later than mid-November, 2011.
"Blair Shedd came from practically nowhere… to get a monthly book out on time, and it looks amazing."

This is a story I've been waiting a long time to tell, and thanks to Kickstarter, and your support, I'll have a chance to tell it.
Whether you support by spreading the word, viewing the video, or best yet, by backing me (and getting some neat incentives to boot), thank you.
I hope you enjoy the previews.
If funding is successful, shipping/emailing/downloading of the PDF edition begin after mid-November of this year. Hopefully the printed versions (both regular and sketch covers) will be available about that time as well - but the depends on the backlog of my chosen printer (right now, I plan to use KA-BLAM.com).
If your incentive includes something like a mention, credit, or cameo, we'll contact you soon after the funding period is complete, so that I may include that info in the comic.
If your incentive includes a personal commission, I'll contact you with the specifics after the funding period.
We would have to say 14+. If this were a movie, it might be PG-13. If this were a TV show, it'd be a 8 or 9 pm crime drama. So, if you don't let your kids (or yourself) watch things like CSI, Law & Order, Burn Notice, and the like, this isn't for them or you.
You can go to TerminalPress.com and try to buy a copy of Zombie Bomb! #4, but they might be sold out - however, you can still grab issues digitally, via the Zombie Bomb! app in the iTunes store (for your iOS device).
Or you can head on over to IDWPublishing.com and search out Doctor Who Ongoing (2010) issues #9 - #12, and/or Doctor Who Volume 2, Tesseract, which contains Blair's run from last year. Also, coming at the end of August 2011, Blair has a story in the 2011 Doctor Who Annual from IDW Publishing.
All of the above is really worth checking out.
No! And this is very important; if you make a pledge now, your card won't be charged until the campaign period is complete and funding is successful (see the counter up top in the right-hand column). So if you pledge $10 now, but come the end of the pledge period you don't have that $10 in your account, Blair gets nothing, and you start getting emails from Kickstarter letting you know your card didn't work.
Blair really wants your support, but please don't pledge money you don't have or don't plan on having.
Yes. If you're an international backer, and you want one of the rewards that contains physical items to ship to you (signed comics, etc), PLEASE make sure you select the "FOR INTERNATIONAL BACKERS ONLY" version. Those reward levels have extra funds tacked on so we can afford to ship the items. If you select the USA ONLY version, and we find you have an international address, we'll hold on to your incentives for you until you can provide us with extra shipping funds.
