How to reproduce stereo sound?
Search "Stereo Sound" on Wikipedia:
" Stereophonic sound or more commonly, stereo, is a method of sound reproduction that creates an illusion of multi-directional audible perspective. This is usually achieved by using two or more independent audio channels through a configuration of two or more loudspeakers in such a way as to create the impression of sound heard from various directions, as in natural hearing."
Single cabinet speaker : NO stereo effect
In the past 5 years, all wireless speaker designs have suffered from significant timing error between two channels due to the wireless communication limitation. So, there is actually no true stereo wireless speaker in the home audio market. Most developers claim their single cabinet can reproduce sound stage, giving clear position of instrument and sound object size. This is actually not true.
Just do a simple test now. Listen to a professional recording for sound imaging, you can hear sound from the 7 positions clearly if your audio system is a true stereo setup. Single cabinet speaker definitely can't achieve that.
Bluetooth "stereo" speakers: NOT true stereo
What is the difference between DECT stereo and Bluetooth stereo?
Stereo does not only mean 2 channels carrying L and R sound track. Sound coming out from each speaker must align at the same time, otherwise our brain can’t understand where and what the sound is. Bluetooth 2-channel speakers suffer from a great time-sliding error. Re-transmission of sound data from the master to the slave channel results in second-time compression and decompression.
This process results in significant time delay of two channel signal and different sound quality caused by a second coding process.
Now, DECT technology solved this problem by perfect channel synchronization. The two speakers have their own respective channel and are performing on time without delay. Our wireless speaker performs even better than the conventional top-end audio system in this respect. Continuing our DECT Journey
We are now launching our second DECT project, ONEmicro. Our first project, ONEclassic, is a bookshelf size DECT wireless speaker, showing USD 4K DECT wireless speakers that "sound" like a USD 200K setup.
We are proud to tell you that we have completed the previous project and the production plan was fulfilled ahead of schedule. We have shipped out all the rewards.

Hi, I am Kenneth, chief engineer of ONEaudio.
I love DIY Hi-Fi from a young age. I like designing amplifier circuit and speaker assembly. While my interest in Hi-Fi design has increased with age, the innovation of technology in audio product is lagging behind. All high-end audio products are very expensive and involve complicated setup. It seems that only people with spare money are entitled to enjoying high-quality music. And even when one has spent a lot on the luxury accessories, they are not guaranteed the quality being worth the price.
I want to make a change. I hope that everyone can enjoy high quality music with simple setup and at an affordable price, and that good audio system will be a part of everybody's life. That thinking has been in my mind for 10 years.
Five years ago, I set my heart on finding the solution. I have gradually turned my engineering job from system design of short-range wireless communication to audio design. At that time, Bluetooth is the hot topic in wireless audio and WiFi is a promising system for high-end audio. Going with the flow, we made prototypes to test the two platforms. However, both systems suffered from timing error in channel sliding and time jitter in channel lock. Time error has completely destroyed the musicality and sound stage. That is the reason why most wireless audio systems cannot attain audiophile grade.
Disappointed with those two popular platforms, we started to look elsewhere. Our 15-year experience with DECT technology told me that it was the perfect solution because of its unique characteristic : accurate timing in channel synchronization and dedicated channel in data transmission. If this concept proves workable, a whole new world of wireless audio products would be opened. Audiophile audio system will become wireless, no more cables, CD player and amplifiers, and at only one-tenth of the price. This also means that even portable speaker can play audiophile sound.
The immediate problem for us was the absence of any DECT software platform specific for audio application. We had to do the development work from ground zero. This translated into huge engineering time and investment. We don’t have past reference, no one knows what level of sound quality DECT technology could attain.
Even so, we decided to play the game. For five years, we have worked very hard and overcome many hurdles, in particular those concerning sound quality. On the way, even we were amazed by the potential of DECT in our working towards the goal of hifi-grade sound. Now, I am proud to say that our dream has come true. The CES Innovation Award and DECT Innovation Award are very solid recognition of our efforts of applying DECT as the break-through for high-end audio products.
ONEmicro is the entry level product of DECT audio. Even a micro size speaker shows how powerful DECT technology can be. ONEmicro is ready for production, we need your support to make the ONE big leap in our DECT journey.

DECT full name is Digital Enhanced Cordless Telephone. It has been widely used in indoor cordless telephone for 20 years. Nowadays, 110 countries have adopted the DECT standard.
The best channel synchronization
An advantage of applying the DECT protocol on audio product is its self-synchronized mechanism which runs 100 times every second. A periodic S-field in each time slot gives accurate time information to receiver (speakers). Left and right speakers are aligned at the same time. Time error between left and right channel can be kept within 0.5uS, which is 50 times better than WiFi and hundred times better than Bluetooth. In practical listening, time error more than 5uS will dramatically degrade sound liveliness and make the listener get tired easily.
Channel synchronization is a key factor for reproducing an audiophile sound. That is the reason why WiFi and Bluetooth wireless speaker still have a long way to go before audiophile.
We have successfully created the world’s first true wireless 5.1 surround. DECT supports up to 6 sound channels in-sync broadcast. We are able to achieve a very low latency (60ms), therefore making audio and video perfectly in-sync.
Support unlimited parallel speaker
DECT supports multi-channel broadcast transmission. Unlimited number of satellite speakers can be added on each channel, forming a speaker array network.
Clean 1.9GHz channel
DECT is working on 1.9GHz frequency band. It is a channel-exclusive clean radio band. Only DECT devices are allowed to operate on this radio band.
Dedicated channel, no data bandwidth sharing
Every DECT device is assigned a dedicated channel and time slot, which guarantees no interference between DECT devices. All data bandwidth and time slot are reserved for the DECT device once the connection is setup.
No cloudy channel jam
DECT does not suffer from cloudy channel jam and data sharing congestion which happen often in WiFi and Bluetooth devices.
Low radiation and long communication range
DECT is an ultra-low energy protocol incorporated with very low radiation, creating no harm to your body. Communication range is the longest, in general, 2 times of that of WiFi and Bluetooth.
Low time jitter
Another advantage of the DECT protocol is its low time jittering in radio receiver. The S-field carries time information which can do quick correction on clock locking by low Q-factor PID control algorithm. Speaker master clock jitter can be kept less than 0.2ppm. Low time jitter enables the speaker to play pure and warm vocal sound.
Long play time
ONEmicro can play for 20 hours as it benefits from the ultra-low power consumption of the DECT protocol and the highly efficient amplifier.
3 Sound profiles: Warm, Natural, Clarity
You can hear the full details in just a portable speaker, that’s why we created 3 sound profiles to suit your different needs. We have not used any equalizing technique because it will destroy sound quality. Our audio engineers go down to the sound re-construction layer to simulate sound effect by optimizing digital parameters in gain block design, feedback, filter type, up-sampling coefficient and crossover frequency.
Support firmware upgrade
The firmware is upgradable via USB port in less than a minute, you can always keep your ONEmicro up-to-date. No need to worry about the compatibility problem with the future models of speaker.
ONEmicro is a completely self-owned design with no third-party module. We have developed an all-in-one software and put it in a high integration single chip to minimize the number of component. This ensures the reliability and durability of ONEmicro.
I. Audiophile design
ONEmicro is made of audiophile grade component, high quality full range speaker driver, low impedance battery and pure copper speaker wire.
II. All-in-one firmware
We have spent 5 years to develop an all-in-one firmware loaded on a high integration single chip. The multi-processor single chip includes two powerful DSP, high speed processor, dedicated protocol processor and DECT radio transceiver. This reduces collision between software modules in different processors and avoid uncertainly in hardware design. This also significantly reduces power consumption as evidenced by the long playing time on a battery-basis.
III. Enclosure design
ONEmicro is a cylindrical-shaped micro speaker, measuring 62mm in diameter and 52mm in height with 4 colours:
White, Apple Green, Rose Pink, Sky Blue
While most of the micro speakers on the market are made with plastics, ONEmicro’s round body is made with metal of 3mm thickness. This gives a strong hold for the speaker drive and the desirable weight for producing vivid and solid sound. The weight effect is even more prominent when the speakers are placed on a wooden surface as a secondary bass effect is thus generated. That said, sound quality is not attained at the expense of portability, ONEmicro’s weight of 9.5oz is easy to carry around.
ONEmicro’s speaker drive is installed facing upward for an all-round playback. Inside the transparent ring at the bottom part of the speaker are 2-colour LED for operation indication. The 2 keys under the bottom are all there is for performing operations of on/off, volume control, change connection and speaker pairing.
After 5 years of development work, our ONEmicro is ready for mass production. Our next project is the true wireless 5.1 surround system consisting of no power cord and speaker cable. We strongly need your support to sustain our long term development and also to bring this revolution in wireless audio to the world.
The true wireless surround is in the final qualification stage. Our subwoofers, ONEwoofer.6+6 and ONEwoofer.8+8, can be paired with any ONEaudio portable speaker models to form wireless 2.1 or 5.1. Both consist of two speaker drivers which give you a punching bass effect in compact size.
By the end of this year, we will finish the console box development. It has universal input for different kinds of connection. With ONEbox.micro, you can play your music or movie through USB, optical, WiFi, and USB ram.
Risks and challenges
1. Qualification process is completed, major components are ready, there is a very low risk of shipment delay.
2. The recipient is the importer of the shipment and must comply with all laws and regulations of the destination country. The recipient of an international shipment may be subject to such import taxes, customs duties and fees, which are levied once a shipment reaches the recipient's country. Additional charges for customs clearance must be fulfilled by the recipient; ONEaudio has no control over these charges, nor can we predict what they may be.
3. Customs policies vary widely from country to country; backer should contact your local customs office for more information.
