Launcher !!

Work on the Launcher is being done by our Finnish design & technology partner Vire Labs. The Launcher is the interface most users will be using that takes care of the experience of navigating around your TrueSmart and launching apps. The placement of icons and widgets, customizing sizes etc. This Launcher is custom development done by Vire Labs specially for TrueSmart. From the video you can also see the responsiveness and fluidity of the TrueSmart that the combination of the Launcher - Touch - Processor - Display is capable of. Of course a launcher can be also very personal. Don't know about you, we love it. See for yourself (a first beta), a video is worth a thousand words.

Sorry if this question has been answered. How are you guys getting around Google's requirement for device screens to be a minimum of 426x320dp? Will this be an officially supported device from Google? Thank you in advance.

    2. Omate Creator on September 10, 2013

@Jonatan Kifarkis, Thanks for your support! $199 Developers + $20 1Gb option + $15 International Shipping = $234, you are absolutely right. Don't need to do anything else for now. When the kickstarter campaign closes, you will get a survey form where you can tick/check the option.

    3. Jonatan K on September 10, 2013

I have pledge 234 dollars for the developers edition, do i get the extra ram then Or do i need to do something to get it:)

      Best regards Jonatan

Everybody worrying for the similarities between Pearl and Omate, that's because Omate had their hand in design. Look at the Pearl review at 2:55…
That crearly says Omate in it, not Pearl or Simvalley.

    5. Voinea Razvan Cristian on September 10, 2013

I was wondering...This could really replace a mobile phone. If an app would exist,to show thr Omate screen on other screen(when necesary) like an TV,tablet, ori mobile device...Like when you would like to stay on Social Networks or chat with someone...

Thank you for all the updates. We love every video about that watch. (no matter if it's not HD)

    9. Marc Schattorie on September 9, 2013

Stop killing me and take my money! XD

    10. IraqiGeek on September 9, 2013

This is, by far, the best update to come from Omate yet!

Will it support user made watchfaces and widgets in the SDK?

    11. Jean-Paul on September 9, 2013

      @Omate: The Netherlands.

    12. Joey Ardion on September 9, 2013

That thing looks pretty solid, can't wait to get mine.

    13. Zuber Bunglawala on September 9, 2013

      Looks Good.

One thing that worries me though. The pics at the beginning. Is it me, just a bad pic. or does the prototype actually look much nicer than the final ?

I'm hoping it's just the pic.

    14. Omate Creator on September 9, 2013

@Jean-Paul in which country are you?

    15. Omate Creator on September 9, 2013

@fmotta you can always uninstall the apps, install your own, or code/modify

    16. Jean-Paul on September 9, 2013

How much will the Omate watch will cost in retail store?

    17. fmotta on September 9, 2013

I forgot to supplement my previous statement with an explanation....

I do not use gmail for anything but my phone/purchases. The TOU for gmail is too open. I use Maildroid

I do not use any of the other google services/apps listed - they are essentially under the same TOU and I have my own personal servers that offer this already with greater security and privacy.

    18. Omate Creator on September 9, 2013

@Lokifish Marz, haven't gotten to the Lock screen yet, remember this is a first beta :-)

    19. Omate Creator on September 9, 2013

@Stan Sokol TrueSmart's Dual Core ... currently the World's fastest Smartwatch in town :-)

    20. fmotta on September 9, 2013

I'd love to see a version of Android that does not *require* apps that are useless like gmail, Email, Calendar, Stocks, News, Facebook (SNS), The plethora of "Google" apps (Drive, Play Movies & TV, Play Magazine, Play Music, Google+, Group Play, Picasa*, ...). I never explicitly run any of these. many are disabled on my phones (as many as I an and retain a working smartphone).

Well, a rant for another time.

    21. Stan Sokol on September 9, 2013

so smooth unlike galaxy gear which struggles between page swipes!

    22. Pedro Fernandez Ruiz on September 9, 2013

      looks awesome! smooth :)

    23. Lokifish Marz on September 9, 2013

Looks nice. How user modifiable is that lock screens though? Does the lockscreen support notifications or shortcuts?

    25. Omate Creator on September 9, 2013

Cool, glad to see everyone likes the Launcher. I do too, it's very fluid, very responsive (to borrow my own words)

    26. Omate Creator on September 9, 2013

@Phil Hough, probably the video, I had no problems with text on the TrueSmart as you can see in other photos / videos too. This video is not of very high quality. We do with what we can get, it's not made by the marketing team but by individual testers and afterall we did not equip our testers with equipment. So photos and video qualities always varies from one to the other. For now our purpose is to inform. After Kickstarter when we launch into retail, we'll up our marketing glitz to have these standardized done by marketing team :)

@Omate let's just hope there would also be an option to make my already bought Vire Launcher Premium to use ;)

    28. fmotta on September 9, 2013

      Looks good!

      - I am one of those people that prefer that the processing power be reserved for valuable functionality. I am probably rare at that. So, the neat wobbly-cube background is something that others may ogle and love. I will want to disable it (I dislike live wallpaper and active desktops).

So, if this could be a user-selectable flat background that does little more than scroll/pan where appropriate then I'd be happiest. Is that an option?

    29. Omate Creator on September 9, 2013

@Delano, well I'm sure they didn't start from scratch. Shall we also call this "cousins"? :-)

First of all: not complaining! But isn't this just Vire Launcher but with a 2x2 grid? I totally would love it if it is, than I could use my premium version for more options on the watch as well.

Looks awsome. Like the Vire launcher on my phone. Love it.
      Check it out. It's great.…

    32. Grant-Davidson McVittie on September 9, 2013

Looks fantastic! Very nice and smooth!

    33. Phil Hough on September 9, 2013

Is it the video, or is some of the text too small to read, as screen a bit low on pixels?

I'm sure us dev's can come up with some funky apps etc, but wondered on the above as some stuff is bound to be "original", regardless of customisation.
