Stretch goal : All money raised beyond the 800$ goal will go towards developing Oxygen for the touch devices.
Oxygen is a turn based (survival) strategy game in an absurd gameworld about movement, rotation and suffocation!
The game is a composite of two distinct versions, a single player mode and two player mode that vary in gameplay. The single player version is a 3-dimensional exploration game, and the two player version is a competitive (browser based) board game.
It is being developed for Windows, Mac and the Web. (PC / Mac and browser). and we now have a functional prototype of the game working on an android phone as well !
a small browser version of the game in its 2 player mode can be played via a link found at the end of this page.
Over the course of this Kickstarter we have shown several videos demonstrating additions to the basic gameplay previewed in the pitch video.
View the updates via the links below :
Gameplay, consists of two actions : movement and rotation.
A player can move across the board between tiles connected by bridges and these connections can be reconfigured by rotating the tiles around the player.
But beware! Both movement and rotation consume a portion of your pod's initial supply of limited oxygen. When pit against your opponent, you must navigate the map collecting oxygen (refills) and utilize traps and obstacles to prevent the enemy from collecting oxygen too!
The goal is to stay alive on the map until your opponent's pod suffocates!
Single player mode will rely on the same oxygen mechanic, but as part of an exploration game. You will solve an absurd gameworld, navigating treacherous terrain and mining oxygen all the while - don't lose your breath! this mode will be discussed in detail in a separate update.
planned features :
The core gameplay features are functional, and we are planning several additional features. Most of which fall under three categories:
Pods: We will be including additional Pods with various abilities that can be used in gameplay simultaneously.
Tiles: There is a great variety of tiles planned; hazardous tiles which can temporarily or permanently act as traps, disappearing tiles, barriers or anchored tiles and of course the large variety of interesting tiles in the Single player mode.
Gameplay: We will also be adding multi-Pod support, a single player mode, a single player challenge mode and network support for multi-player.
In addition, we have a map editor under development, a variety of paper-cut, animated textures and peculiar polygonal models will create an absurd and interesting gameworld.
Why we need your help:
We have been working on oxygen for some time, and while we do have the basic mechanics working, there are components that require substantial work.
Network support : Adding network support to the game is crucial, but will require a considerable amount of programming and time spent on the project. Your contribution to the project will allow us to do so.
Papercut textures and animations : Funds raised through kickstarter will also allow us access to a cnc cutting machine, making it possible for us to create physical patterns and forms of greater intricacy than the ones that are handmade.
Map Editor : We would like to release a comprehensive map editor with the game. This will involve some programming and development of an Interface, presets. By raising enough funds we can allow people to share custom maps and create their own presets!
Other than these aspects which are under development. A portion of funds the will be utilized to create a unique soundtrack and program a variety of playable pods.
We really appreciate your support for our game and to show our appreciation we have a variety rewards. Details of some of the rewards are discussed below;
Backer credit rewards :
1 $ - 15 $ : You will get a backer credit on our webpage and in the credits of the game. You will further receive a copy of the game and several other rewards (depending on the tier).
Developer credit rewards :
25 $ and above : You will be involved in the creation of some aspect of the game and will be credited as a developer, several other rewards specific to each tier are also available.
(Story mode for oxygen: will be also available for all backers who pledge 25$ dollars and above. The story mode will be published as a small standalone game for PC/Mac)
Some of the larger rewards include a copy of, and beta gameplay access to Somewhere, another game we are simultaneously developing with oxygen. (in fact we developed oxygen while programming a similar mechanic for "somewhere". )
more details about "somewhere" can be found here : http://cargocollective.com/oleomingus/somewhere
Playable build and Downloads :
A small playable web build for the game can be found below. We recommend you go through the gameplay manual and release notes before playing the game.
press Q to start the game only after the webplayer has finished loading ( there should be no loading symbol in the corner of the tab on your browser ) . the loading process might take about 30 seconds. please be patient.
Who are we :
As Oleomingus we are a small independent game studio consisting of four collaborating artists across the globe.

Salil : Music Composer
Dhruv : Developer
We are a geographically diverse&disparate group who share a love for building games, and collaborate on projects of mutual interest.
Oxygen is the second game we are building. Our development pipeline is predominantly free software and we are building oxygen using sketchup and Unity3D indie.
Also, as a community, you can support us by simply sharing this Kickstarter page and our Facebook page however you see fit, Thanks! https://www.facebook.com/Oleomingus
Thank you for your interest in our project.
We hope you will support us!
Risks and challenges
The game in it's most basic format, is already functional, but there still remain a few challenging aspects to it's development.
The addition of network support and the map editor will be the most difficult (and possibly the most time consuming) phase of development.
During development we will keep this page and our IndieDB page updated with regular development videos and images. So that you can be assured of our continuous effort to build the best possible game we can, within a reasonable time period.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
