Oldetime Knuckle Up will give gamers the ultimate Bareknuckle boxing interactive video game experience.
WHAT ARE WE CREATING?
We have been creating Oldetime Knuckle Up as a Multi-Platform Game with the help of a great team and partners from all over the gaming community, including incredibly talented individuals and freelancers, which have worked with Marvel and DC comics.
With your and the Kickstarter community’s support, we will be able to take Oldetime Knuckle Up to the next plateau – a Functional First Level, Beta Version. You can then join us on a digital journey as a Bareknuckle fighter as if you were boxing back in the early 1500s through late 1800s building up a reputation to fight for the championships of America, England and Australia. You will fight in exhibitions and take on challenges just like prominent fighter, JOHN L. SULLIVAN, did traveling across America.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Inspired by Oldetime Sports founder and CEO Jean Borgella’s late mentor and partner, BERT RANDOLPH SUGAR, a renowned boxing historian, we created Oldetime Knuckle Up not just as a game – more like an experience.
Based on Bert and Jean’s meticulous research, from speaking with historians/documentarians and reading newspapers to securing eyewitness accounts, we have been digitally recreating the level of intensity with which boxing greats like JOHN L. SULLIVAN, TOM CRIBB and JAMES FIGG, credited as the fathers of modern boxing, fought and how the crowds vigorously cheered for them as – their heroes. Though these boxers are no longer mentioned as the greatest fighters of all time as are MUHAMMAD ALI or SUGAR RAY ROBINSON, their contributions to Boxing, Wrestling and Mixed Martial Arts are not to be forgotten.
WHAT MAKES OLDETIME KNUCKLE UP SO AWESOME – SO DIFFERENT?
In comparison to the boxing format today, Bareknuckle boxing was a completely different, no holds barred sport – an unforgettable mixture of Boxing, Wrestling and Mixed Martial Arts without the kicking!
Oldetime Knuckle Up will allow you, as gamers, to experience the same styles and rules, under which historic Bareknuckle fighters featured in the game fought. Revealing the most intense side of boxing, Oldetime Knuckle Up will bring to gameplay life the authentic Bareknuckle experience where fighters allowed their bodies to endure gruesome conditions unlike any boxing games on today’s market. You, like the men of Bareknuckle boxing, can digitally become a different breed - Fearless, Tenacious, and Bold to the Core!
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE GAME'S KEY FEATURES?
Are you ready to let your showmanship influence your rise to the gore and glory?
WHEN CAN YOU PLAY THE GAME?
As you can imagine so much goes into recreating this unique experience – and yes, we have spent lots of money, development time, resources, and let's not forget - the sweat - on designing realistic characters and scenes, creating authentic voiceovers, licensing, masking instances, programming, testing, and much much more.
We are very anxious to complete and release the Oldetime Knuckle Up Beta Version to you on May 5, 2013. And that’s where you come in…. dear friends, family, and gamers all over the planet….

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What happens if you go over goal?

Q: What will the game be?
A: The crux of Knuckle Up is to duplicate and graphically enhance the HISTORICAL BAREKNUCKLE BOXING EXPERIENCE; with more support, we can definitely make it a greater overall experience.
Q: When can I expect the game to be finished?
We are aiming to finish the Beta by May 2013. With more than anticipated success, we'll not only meet the May 2013 deadline, but add even more robust updates down the road.

Q: Can I put someone else name in the credits that isn't my own? Can I ship posters to a different address?
A: Sure, you can. We will send a survey to backers that pledged over $100 towards the end of the project to gather names for the credits and addresses for shipping.
Q: I would like to donate, but I can't get an Amazon Payments account. Can you accept Paypal?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot accept Paypal. More information about this specific issue can be found here:
However, Amazon has suggested that using prepaid credit cards will work, as long as you pledge $1 extra on top of the rewards tier you desire.
A Letter From Jean Borgella, Founder & CEO Oldetime Sports
Dear Valued Existing and Potential Kickstarter Backer Stakeholders,
We have strategically planned each phase of our Oldetime Knuckle Up venture. We have the primary content and necessary skill sets to bring our game to you.
As Oldetime Sports Founder and CEO, a certified Project Manager, PMP and Project Management with two Masters in Project Management and Information Systems Technology from George Washington University as well as over 12 years of effectively managing risks, I recognize each significant project one undertakes has inherent risk and challenges.
We have encountered a couple of Kickstarter launch delays because we needed to make sure we possessed the appropriate infrastructure to execute fully Bert Sugar’s and my initial vision from our 2011 company launch as well as the unfortunate circumstances surrounding Hurricane Sandy, of which many of our fellow New Yorkers are still recovering. Technically speaking, we also have had to overcome character development issues, as you can imagine the most expensive component to game development involves gaming mechanics. Although we have been able to unveil an alluring "vertical slice," it will take more varied iterations and financial resources to deliver our desired intense “realism” and "emotion" that we desire and is expected in today's video games.
With that said, we, however, are very proud of where we are with the Oldetime Knuckle Up game today. To mitigate the risk of delays, we have enlisted the help of Unity 3D to recruit a game mechanics expert to provide oversight in this process. We also have a partnership in place that will shorten our learning curve and help us integrate that AAA character development that this game requires and deserves. Our scene development and story telling further strengthens our team on an ongoing basis.
Our invaluable team and industry alliances with such business and industry experts as our Co-founder, seasoned business executive, and Yale Alum Erica Lee Benedetto, CEO of Unity 3D David Hegalson, Major League Games Erik Semmelhack Co-founder, and the entire SSAS® Enterprises LLC arts, entertainment, design, and media consultant team has not only expanded our a breadth of industry knowledge, but offered us some of the best mentors that a game development firm could have in its corner. We are grateful for their support and guidance throughout this process. We also have been fortunate to work closely with the New York City Small Business Office and the Office of Mayor Bloomberg. They are committed to providing resources for our success, and we welcome their continued support.
With little to no funding, we have taken, what at first was only an idea, to an unmatched level based on extensive research, key industry alliances, and nurturing gaming community relationships while testing, building a game vertical slice and performing real gamers interview to validate our assumptions that this style of gameplay has a market in the first place. Can you imagine what our game will look like once you help fund it?
We embrace a long-term perspective when it comes to game development, which is why we have a multi-stage development approach when it comes to launching this game. By also using a project management process that is akin to Agile Management a Rapid Application Development Methodology, we feel very confident that we are creating a boxing game that meets the standards that the market today expects, while establishing a foundation for continued game development for years to come.
On May 5, 2013, we will launch the Beta of the Game, We will use this time frame as an extensive testing and learning period, use the lessons learned to develop the second build that we will launch September 15, 2013, and complete as well as deliver the full launch ready game May 5, 2014. The reason why we selected the Kickstarter route is to create and develop a long-term relationship with a community of game lovers that love not only games, but the journey as well. Throughout this process, we look forward to sharing updates with you to keep you in the loop and up to speed.
We humbly, thank you for your continued support and we will make you proud through our continued growth and maturity as a firm.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
