More game jam craziness as we finish our CREATE coverage!
Update #8: New Sticker Preview
Thanks to Kick it Forward for featuring us! - http://kickingitforward.org
OUYA Gaming Source is a one-stop destination for OUYA game news & updates, with weekly content which carries into a weekly video series called OUYA Radar. OGS also gives you direct access to OUYA game developers with Dev Team Insider, a series of live community interviews with developers on their latest projects. Our goal is to find and showcase the very best OUYA projects out there, helping gamers find awesome games they might otherwise miss, and help developers find a way to get their game noticed amongst the crowd.
If we can reach our funding goal, we want to officially launch immediately after we complete our Kickstarter campaign in mid-March, highlighting and showcasing the best OUYA games upon the official OUYA launch to the public. This funding will allow us to produce 12-weeks of content, which will include 12 weekly episodes of both OUYA Radar and Dev Team Insider.
- Features on upcoming games
- Game reviews
- OUYA news and contests
- Database of current and upcoming OUYA games
- On-site interactive discussions
- News & updates about other new wave consoles like Gamestick and the Steam Box
Episode 1 of OUYA Radar:
Dev Team Insider (un-edited example): The Dev Team Insider series will consist of weekly interviews with OUYA game developers that are hosted live. Using Google Hangouts in combination with other interactive social media platforms, anyone is free to come join in, ask questions, or even talk to the developers themselves. Then, the raw interview footage will be archived and edited into a highlight video for our YouTube channel.
OUYA Game Library:The OGS OUYA Library will be the most complete list of OUYA games on the internet. Haven originally started it on a small blog: http://blucollarart.blogspot.com/p/ouya-library.html, however, if we're successful in reaching our funding goal, we'll recreate the database on our website in a format that anyone can contribute to. Haven sees building a fantastic OUYA Library as a personal ambition, so we're going to make sure it's as extensive and detailed as possible.
"What you are doing is so awesome."
- Roy Bahat OUYA Chairman of the Board
"OUYA Gaming Source was amazing during and after the Twitter OUYA giveaway, we felt really encouraged! We wouldn't even have known about the contest, but they went out of their way and told us about it, and we can't thank them enough."
"OUYA Gaming Source was critical in helping us spread the word about Meriwether and continues to be a great source of information on all types of indie games."
- Joshua DeBonis, Designer of "Meriwether: An American Epic"
OGS is a collaborative project between producer Bryan Robbins, writer Haven Luckenbill, and Jade Kim, OUYA Radar Host.
Bryan is a Web Content Producer, currently producing mobile games and video content for video-game developing and publishing giant Electronic Arts. He is experienced from pre-to-post with web adverts, national & foreign commercials, major label music videos, and primetime television (ABC), for more information see: www.spotlessfilms.com.
Haven is a video game journalist who spends enormous amounts of time in the indie game scene talking to developers. Haven's journalistic drive comes from knowing that core gamers are always looking for something new and have a natural curiosity about what's on the horizon in the gaming world. He's always on the look-out for he next big game to write about; to give publicity that many of these independent game companies need and well deserve, for more information see:www.blucollarart.blogspot.com.
Jade is an Orange County-based video host as well as a comic book fanatic with an infatuation for all things science fiction. When not reading Isaac Asimov novels or constructing 3D models of Star Wars fleets, she indulges in the occasional RPG. Right now she is currently hopped up on Skyrim and Borderlands 2 and is greatly anticipating the upcoming games for the upcoming OUYA console.
We currently have the basic layout for the website and weekly video series but we need funding for our team to complete the vision of this project.
- Studio rental with green-screen cyclorama/backdrop
- Production: lights, camera, audio recording equipment rental
- Post-production: music tracks, After Effects plugins and graphic assets
- Additional personnel: Camera Assistant, Sound Mixer, Assistant Editor, and Web Programmer
- Salaries: so we can take time off from our current jobs to dedicate to this project and pay for living expenses while doing so

Risks and challenges
What happens if OUYA fails and no games worth covering come out?
This seems very unlikely. Hundreds of developers have already committed to releasing games for the system, and there's nothing to stop them from doing so. But, nothing's a sure thing! We love OUYA because it's bringing a whole new range of awesome and innovative games to the TV, but the OUYA isn't the only way to play those games on a TV. OUYA is going to be our focus, but it's the games that matter. In the end, our team just wants to showcase games that do something amazing, but don't show up on consoles and end up easy to miss. If another platform like Gamestick or Steam Box (or even PC) brings excellent games to the TV that aren't getting the attention they deserve, we'll cover them, too; we'll follow the games, wherever they are.
Our challenge will be to find the best quality games that will be released on the OUYA on a weekly basis and to present these games on a regular weekly schedule. It will be our team's focus to search through a lot of static to find the best undiscovered gems. Our team is fully prepared for this and has already spent months of research with our beta website and early testing with the video series and Google+ Hangout videos with several game developers. We're fully prepared to take the time that is needed for this and have no doubt that this will be an excellent project if we can reach our funding goals.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
