Status Report! is an asymmetrical social deduction game where one player is the Captain of a spaceship and everyone else plays one of the ship's on-board Artificial Intelligence programs. Unfortunately for the Captain, only one of these AI is still operational. But which one?
Every Rampant AI player must try to convince the Captain that they are Operative while simultaneously killing as many of the crew as quickly as they can.
If the Captain can identify the one Operative AI or keep the crew alive long enough to purge the Rampant AI from the computer, they may just live to fly another day.
The Captain and Operative AI's goal is to get through all 8 Steps on the Captain's board with at least one crew member remaining.
Every odd step is a Status Report! During this step every AI player chooses and plays one casualty card from their hand. The cards are revealed and the Captain adjusts the Casualty Count to match.
On the even steps the Captain uses one of the powers at their disposal, like looking at a target player's hand, to try and deduce which players are actually on their side.
Each AI player is also equipped with a once per game ability they can use. For example Merci can remove any Casualty card from the table and replace it with the top card of the deck.
If the Captain ever thinks they've discovered the identity of the Operative AI they may end the game and reveal that player's Function card, immediately winning or losing the game.

Making card games isn't cheap! The money we raise in this Kickstarter will all go to the production of Status Report! Based on the quotes and work we've already done we estimate that it will cost $17,000 to produce the game. Our budget breaks down like this:
Status Report! was first printed as part of Kickstarter's Make 100 initiative. Intentionally designed to be a small run, we were surprised and delighted to find it funded in the first 48 hours.
We've spent the last few months adding more to the game and using the knowledge and resources we gained printing Complicated Board Game the Card Game to produce a bigger, better version of Status Report for the second edition.
In addition to better quality components and adding more cards, boards, and tokens to the game we've also come up with a bunch of new content. We've updated the original AI, added a brand new AI role, increased the player count to 7, and added the Science Officer, a whole new player role, to the game.
You can learn more about the first printing and see what's changed at the original Kickstarter Page.
"But in Status Report!, nearly everyone is the liar. That’s brilliant! It’s not about one player sweating as the others play with nothing to fear. Instead, Status Report!’s design means everyone is invested in every play – the Operative AI is desperately trying to convince the captain that they are on the same team, while all the Rampant AIs are, well, trying to do the exact same thing!"
"A couple of my friends have Offcut Games’ debut game, Complicated Board Game the Card Game, and love it. Status Report! looks to be every bit as well put together, and very much worth picking up." -David Chapman
Status Report! is Offcut Games 2nd card game and 3rd Kickstarter. Last year, in addition to the first edition of Status Report!, we also funded and produced Complicated Board Game the Card Game. Our work has been featured in tabletop showcases across the country including PAX, The Indie Megabooth, Boston FIG, Indiecade, and Dreamhack Denver. Risks and challenges
Our team has previously run and fulfilled Kickstarters for Complicated Board Game the Card Game and the First Printing of Status Report! We now have a ton of professional experience under our belts in terms of printing, illustrating, and generally making card games. We're printing Status Report! with Ad Magic, who manufactured Complicated Board Game the Card Game and are shipping it using Blackbox, a shipping company started by the folks who made Cards Against Humanity. There can always be unforeseen delays in terms of manufacturing and shipping, but we'll be sure to let you know if anything like this occurs.
As for the game itself, we've spent the last few months since the success of our first printing refining and fleshing out the game and it's just about ready to go. We need to commission a few new art assets to finish the game, but once that's done we'll be ready to go right to the printer.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
