I started this band in 2001, and although we accomplished a lot on our own, it wasn’t until 2008 when we signed with ProgRock Records that things opened up for us some. At the time, Deathanity was our first worldwide release through a proper distributor. We were very proud of our work, and still are to this day. Working with these songs again brings back some great memories.
However, we have come a long way since 2008. Both with our maturity as individual musicians and as a band. Additionally, my audio engineering and production skills have improved greatly, and we started having C.S. Brown (Ghost Circus) master our albums. Finally, the addition of Dimetrius LaFavor’s unique voice really took us somewhere special. For all of these reasons, I thought it was time to do a “reboot” of Deathanity with some rerecords (e.g., Dimetrius), remixing, and remastering (hence the “R3” in the title), as I think people will enjoy this “reboot” better. If only we were more popular, people may start debating about the “George Lucas” effect of always reopening things to tinker with something that many already love and should remain untouched! :P
While Deathanity remains our heaviest and artsiest album to date, Turtles All the Way Down is, in many people’s opinions, our best overall to date. Personally, I feel it is sonically our best, and the song writing is definitely more focused and cohesive than some albums we have put out in the past. We recorded two albums worth of material in 2013-14, and I selected the group of songs that seemed to work together the best for our 2015 release. That isn’t to say that the rest wasn’t good in its own right – in fact, I kept refining them and wrote a couple more because they seemed so strong. So these songs go with the 2015 albums’ songs in theme, though in sound they have their own identity. So we also want to release Turtles All the Way Down, Volume II now, lest they disappear without anyone enjoying them. We hope to release this in 2016, but we are saying 2017 to be safe.
We have tried to include a lot of options with this campaign…most things cascade. I think there is something here for anyone. If you are having trouble deciding what music you want to get in exchange for your pledge, here is a summary of the albums in a few words: Deathanity = artsy prog metal/rock; Turtles All the Way Down (2015) = solid hard rock / metal; and Turtles All the Way Down Volume II = AOR with an edge. Regardless of what you pick, we truly appreciate your support.
As a bonus set of rewards, any physical reward will include a free guitar pick. Any reward including a physical CD will include a free bonus Appalachian Court CD. Any reward including a t-shirt will include a free Driven by Fate bonus t-shirt. These are all subject to a "while supplies last" stipulation.
Also of note, we are setting a “lower” goal, but it will not cover all costs. We need to hit about $6,000 to cover everything. So the Turtles All the Way Down, Volume II CD will contain limited packaging unless we can hit that stretch goal. And though I know it is REALLY a stretch, we’ll go ahead and say if we hit $12,000, we will film a new DVD…because our old one is, well…old. :)
Thank you so much to all of our fans, friends, and family who have carried us this far! We couldn’t do it without you!

Risks and challenges
We successfully completed a campaign in 2013. Prior to that, we released multiple albums (and a DVD) on our own and through ProgRock Records, so we will be successful yet again.
Deathanity is ready for mixing and should be completed shortly. We plan on a December 2015 release.
Turtles All the Way Down Volume II is well over 50% complete. We are shooting for 2016, but are saying a 2017 release to play it safe.
Given the talent in the band and our history of overcoming challenges, I'm sure we will meet and conquer any reasonable unforeseen challenges we face here.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
