About this project
The Shared Dream is a 1-4 player cooperative board game set in the world of ODAM Publishing's tabletop RPG Of Dreams And Magic. It sees a group of each characters wake up from the exact same terrible dream, only to discover it's coming to life in the real world.
Each time the game is played, a Shared Dream scenario is chosen, with each one providing a different set of objectives, enemy mechanics, and unique Nemesis. Every Shared Dream also contains its own set of Personal Reflections, mini-stories each character must progress through in order to contribute to winning the scenario.
With 4 Shared Dream scenarios to choose from, 6 unique player characters, and a modular city that changes with every playthrough, The Shared Dream combines the strategy and replayability of a board game with the mood, theme, and storyline of a RPG.
Combining the storytelling of an RPG with the strategy of a board game, The Shared Dream contains 2 main mechanics that push the game forward.
First is the Personal Reflection deck. At the beginning of each game, every player randomly chooses a Personal Reflection deck that is tied to the specific Shared Dream scenario they have chosen to play. This Personal Reflection deck tells the story of that individual's part of the Shared Dream, and their efforts to combat it in the Waking World. Each Personal Reflection deck sees players travel throughout the city, speak with its denizens, and face challenges and obstacles as they work towards completing their part of The Shared Dream.
The second is personal resource management. Every player can only take 3 actions per turn, so they must carefully consider how they are going to best spend their time. Do they rush through their Personal Reflection, helping to reach the final conflict as soon as possible? Do they carefully manage their resources to help slow the tide of enemies? Or do they go all out and defeat everything they can, despite the risks?
In addition to their actions, the main resource players use is Conviction. Conviction is used to channel their dream identities, helping them grow temporarily stronger, gain access to special powers, and defeat their enemies. Unfortunately, every time Conviction is spent, a character's Nightmare track is increased. At the end of every turn, players must roll a Nightmare check that grows harder the more Nightmare they have.
Once this Nightmare check is failed, that player spawns a new enemy whose strength is dictated by the amount of Nightmare the player has. In this way, players must always consider when and how to use their Conviction. While spending 3 Conviction to channel at full power may be helpful now, it will inevitably have consequences down the line.

*Please note that the Alternate Animus promo cards do not add an additional scenario to the Crux Collection.
To include an add-on, after you pledge, click on the blue "manage my pledge" button. On the next page, you will see your current pledge total. Add the amount of the add-on you want to the current amount, and hit "confirm". Once the campaign has completed, we will gather more information as necessary.
This full set of Conviction and Nightmare themed custom dice comes with 4 blue Over dice and 4 red Under dice. Just add $5 to your pledge.
All returning backers receive a free set of custom dice!
The Crux Collection adds 6 unique solo scenarios, each of which will help immerse you in the lore of The Shared Dream.
The Crux Collection will grow along with the rest of this project! Any additional characters unlocked through Stretch Goals will also add a playable solo story to The Crux Collection.
When a vicious Blood Drinker savagely hunts throughout the city, only the curse of the Moon Beast can stop it! Every night phase, players gain a chance to become the vicious Moon Beast, the only force strong enough to directly confront the Blood Drinker.
The Blood Drinker and Moon Beast can also be used as new characters to play any Shared Dream Scenario.
Darker still is the inclusion of a new Reaver type, the Malefic. Created by an abundance of Shadows, the Malefic floods the city with enemies, requiring everyone to handle the new threat.
The Malefic can be used to greatly increase the challenge of any Shared Dream scenario.
The Shared Dream's take on the zombie genre! When there's no more room in your head, the dead will walk the earth! Featuring a brand new Nemesis, the Necromancer, Necrophobia sees players deal with an onslaught of undead enemies guided by a dark sorcerer's hand.
If you are adding Necrophobia to the Ultimate Edition, Dreaming in Bulk, or a discounted Ultimate Edition (if you are a returning backer), please adjust your pledge by $20 ($100 for Dreaming in Bulk) to receive Necrophobia!
Save some cash when you back The Shared Dream and its 3 initial addons! Just choose "The Ultimate Collection" as your pledge level. The Ultimate Collection does NOT include the Of Dreams and Magic RPG, the Necrophobia expansion, or the Axitath expansion.
Whether you're a RPG vet adding to their collection, or a first-time RPG player, take your game beyond the board with a copy of Of Dreams And Magic.
Want MORE Add-Ons? Well, so do we! We already have more content prepared, and plan to reveal them if we fund past our initial set of Stretch Goals.
Shipping will be handled AFTER the Kickstarter is complete. Since we have multiple add-ons and stretch goals, we cannot fairly offer a single shipping cost to every backer.
To help minimize shipping costs, we will be subsidizing $15 worth of shipping on every package, regardless of size.
We will also be shipping from multiple fulfillment centers around the globe to help reduce costs and manage shipping in the most streamlined way possible.
We will be handling post-campaign management through Backerkit, and fulfillment through FulfillRite in the US and Canada, and Happyshops in Europe. We also enjoy an existing fulfillment relationship with Amazon, giving us even further options to ensure we can provide an optimum fulfillment solution for every backer.
Below is our ESTIMATE of shipping costs for the base game. Our current estimates do not show a shipping cost difference between the base game and the Ultimate Edition. These costs may change based on stretch goals unlocked and additional add-ons purchased.
Please note that you can save on shipping by selecting the Dreaming in Bulk pledge level! When backing at the Dreaming in Bulk level, all 6 copies will be shipped to one location with shipping paid only once!
If you are a retailer interested in carrying The Shared Dream, please send us a message on Kickstarter or email email@example.com for pricing and other information.
Please refer to the latest update on the original campaign (found here!) for more information before you back!
Risks and challenges
We originally launched a Kickstarter for The Shared Dream in November of 2016. Soon after we launched, we received revised manufacturing quotes which opened up a lot of possibilities for us.
We believe this relaunch presents less risk than our initial campaign because we have been able to listen to a lot of backer feedback on ways to advance the campaign and make The Shared Dream better.
This feedback has lead to new add-ons, a lower goal, a lower base price, and more video content.
Finally, we've been very conservative with our delivery goal. Our true hope is to have The Shared Dream ready to ship by August, but we're well aware that there are many factors at play when it comes to fulfilling board games, and some of those factors are out of our control. We believe this extra 4 month buffer will be enough time to react to any issues that come up along the way.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
