About

An 20+ Year Journey to Get to Where I Am Today:

Hi, my name is October Evans. I'm a independent singer-songwriter/musician who's been in a total of 7 bands, one rap group and now my very own self-titled solo project for the last 20+ years of my life. I started playing music at a very young age with the piano as my first-ever instrument at only 3 years old - since then, I've learned and mastered a total of 5 instruments, my own vocals and have released several albums from all 7 bands and one rap group total. My first band was known as Empty Existence, then after that, I joined another band which was a punk rock band called Alienated Youth. Then there was Asphyixaphiliaic Heart (an industrial rock/gothic rock/electronica/crossover trio side project), Dead by December (another band from Texas, which since then has parted ways with me and moved on with a brand new lead singer, last I heard), Post Traumatic Empathy, Visionaries of the Revolution (the aforementioned rap group) Dead Generation Beatniks (a short-lived side project with Nate Suojanen in Florida) and Wanderlust Grrrl, which saw some short-lived relative success in the last 5 years with only a total of 4 albums.

I've lived all over the world and done many things outside of the music industry, such as being a writer/poet, a blogger/vlogger, an activist, an independent unbiased journalist, a indie filmmaker/producer/director/screenwriter/actress, a model and so forth. You could say I had a fulfilling life so far, but not everything was coming up roses all the time. I had experienced a lot of trauma, tragedy, heartbreak and sadness along the way, previously losing myself to the Darkness for a while and then finding my way back from Hell, clean, sober and ready to rock once again after losing it all, losing my little girl to leukemia and my late wife who committed suicide shortly after our daughter's death, and traveling aimlessly and homeless for the majority of my 20s, and working several "day jobs" and just trying to make money to put food on the table, clothing on my back, a roof over my head and so forth. I almost gave up... but here I am, alive and well.

As I got older and recently having broken up with Wanderlust Grrrl (due to the fact that our former bass guitarist showed up one night drunk during a band rehearsal session and spewed racist, transphobic, homophobic, xenophobic and ignorant slurs and we kicked him out that very same night - me and the other original members were never the same after that, severely traumatized by what he did to me and my lead guitarist and our drummer, so we took a hiatus and went our separate ways on good terms, while permanently banning the bass guitarist and putting a restraining order on him to not contact me or the rest of the band) after our 4th album, I started realizing things in a different viewpoint, and wanted to pursue something that was really important to me, something that I felt was never done before and something that would relight the passionate musical/lyrical fire underneath me once again to go back to indie music and release yet again another album. But this time, it'd be just me alone with a few "hired guns" in the music industry to put together a team of studio musicians to create something really fucking amazing and wonderful.

For the last 6 years, I've been working on a solo album that's near completion, having had writing lyrics, creating original instrumental tracks with my "hired guns" (that's what we call studio musicians nowadays in the music industry), doing demo recording sessions and so forth.

This solo album is a chronological/autobiographical-themed 4-part album, featuring 4 different EPs, telling the stories of my journey in life for the last 20+ years, from my younger days all the way to being 30 years old and so forth. It's a very personal album, one that's considered by my peers to be soul-baring, raw, honest, original and unlike anything that they've ever heard before in their lives. What I'm doing is unparalleled and unmatched to anything you've probably experienced as music listeners/fans/followers, considering not many bands/artists/musicians can pull off a genre-bending, multi-genre crossover album all in one like I can.

The reason for it being a 4-part album is because of the fact that I wanted to try to tell my story as much as possible, covering all my bases in this journey that I'll be telling through songs on this album, and showing you what will happen next after the album is released, so in conclusion, it has led me to write a total of 24 songs split up into 4 EPs, like Home Away from Home EP, Lost Along the Way EP, Letters to Salem EP and Hometown Diaries EP

Most of the album is almost finished, but in order to get it across the finish line and have it ready for mixing/mastering/post-production work and then send it off for physical and digital album distribution, I need your help to raise funds to cover the costs of mixing/mastering/post-production work and to pay my studio musicians that I've hired to record the remaining lead guitar, rhythm guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar and drum tracks that still needs to be done and to pay for additional studio/travel costs to get back and forth to the studio here in Colorado.

The slated album release date for the first 2 EPs of the album is aimed to be coming out in Summer 2019, and the last 2 EPs of the album is slated to come out by late October/early November 2019. In between all that time, me and my "hired guns" will be touring to promote the album, play a bunch of live gigs here and there, do a few intimate acoustic shows, release a few official lyric videos and music videos (2 of the videos we're planning to release will be animated with the help of a local Denver-based animated music video producer-for-hire) and then conclude with one more show here in Colorado by the end of this year.

Then in early 2020, we'll be re-releasing the entire album series once more in a Limited/Special Deluxe Edition version of this particular album, featuring demos and never-before-released songs that wasn't on the original releases to come. It'll also have additional photos and album artwork done, so keep an eye out for that version to come out soon.

Your support and donations to this Kickstarter project will make all this a reality, and not only you get to donate to help us make this album complete at last in time for the album release date, but you get all kinds of amazing rewards/incentives included in the amount that you decide to pledge/donate to. Each rewards tier has a different amount you can pledge to from $1 to $50 being the highest, and some of those rewards/items are also set to be limited-edition/one-time-only gifts as my way of thanking you for supporting this album to completion.

I look forward to sharing more details, updates and so forth with you, and I hope that you will consider pledging/backing this project. We can't do this without you, and without your support, this album will be postponed and re-scheduled for a later release date. Please pledge today and help us finish this album on time. Thank you so much! And don't forget to take a look at the videos and examples of my work thus far below.

Examples of My Work:

Risks and challenges

Some of the common risks and challenges, especially when it comes to releasing my first-ever solo album since having left my former band, Wanderlust Grrrl, is the fact it takes a long time to build a brand-new fanbase from scratch. With a limited audience size of only 1,000+ fans scattered all across various social media platforms, it's become increasingly difficult for everyone to stay focused on what I've been promoting as of late.

However, even with a small audience like that, according to my local and regional rankings, I am still in the Top 10 Alternative artist charts, which tells you a lot about my potential for this new solo album. There's also the issue of budgeting, and sometimes, just sometimes, we run into a unexpected expense like additional fees that a studio musician charged because he or she may have forgotten to factor in that one missing hour that was not originally in the budget for recording new instrumental tracks, and other times, there'd be budget issues in regards to how many albums we can afford to manufacture and sell with CDBaby/TuneCore, and how many we actually need to start out with.

And let's not forget about the costs of mixing/mastering/post-production. In a crazy, insane world we live in, and the way things are economy-wise, it has affected hard-working and struggling independent musicians/bands/artists such as myself and my fellow "hired guns" in the music industry to be able to afford to pay for such studio/post-production expenses all on our own, and even when they're being hired to do the work they do, you never know what can happen with unexpected emergency expenses.

But fret not - we plan to overcome them, because we have found a way to keep earning extra money, and this fundraising goal that we're all trying to reach together is to ensure that we can get my solo album out on time and across the finish line, pay everyone on time and be able to afford doing what we love doing, which is creating and making/playing original, honest, raw and revolutionary music in the first place.

There's also the possibility that we may not be able to break even, even when we're on tour or promoting our music online or trying to get the word out about the solo album with ads that we have to unfortunately pay for on social media platforms and so forth, but we're doing the best we can, and even if we don't break even and earn a lot of money from this particular album, the upcoming tour and so forth, at least we all got to have fun creating this album, and do what we could with the limited resources we have as indie musicians/artists/bands in our local scene.

Rest assured, your pledges/donations will not go to waste, and it will be allocated to all the proper people who's working on this amazing solo album with me and thanks to you, we can get it done. Are you with me? Let's rock.
