What's Next? Stretch goals and an update from Obsidian

We are excited to announce the first stretch goals for Project Eternity!

1.1 million, Base Goal – Achieved!
Base game includes three races, five classes, and five companions. We have ideas for these, but we want to hear your opinions on what you'd like to see. Stay tuned to Kickstarter, our website, and our forums to join in on the conversation.

1.4 million, New Playable Race, Class, and Companion!
Expands your options for character creation and adds a companion of the new class.

1.6 million, a Mac Version of Project Eternity and The Story Grows!
We've listened and we’ll make a Mac version of the game at this tier. We're also going to add a new major storyline along with new quests, locations, NPCs, and unique loot (special histories everyone?).

1.8 million, New Playable Race, Class, and Companion!
The options grow for your main character and the roster of your motley crew expands with the addition of a new companion from the selected class.

2.0 million, Player House!
Get your own house in the game that you can customize, store equipment in, and where your companions hang out, or, as the elves say, "chillax".

2.2 million, a new Region, a new Faction and another new Companion! And, dare we say it... ? LINUX!
Great news, everyone! For the Tarball Knights of Gzippia out there, we'll be adding Linux support!
Also, the world of Project Eternity grows in a major way with the inclusion of a whole new faction and the territory it holds. This adds new NPCs, quests, magic items, and hours of gameplay. And yes, you got it, another companion.

2.4 million and beyond! Coming Soon!

We've been listening to your feedback, and have the following announcements:

  • DRM Free: We are looking into it! Please check back for updates.
  • Digital Only Tiers are coming!
  • PayPal is coming asap. Please be patient!
  • New $5k Tier. We are looking into a new $5k tier since it sold out so quickly! We are looking into equivalent alternatives.

Thank you fans!

congrats. I hope this game will kick the more ass than any of the previous when you got the crowd at your back instead of big daddy handing you pennies.

    2. Khaine on

      I totally want a house...

      Nice goals!

We have to reach 1.6 million at the very least to get that extra storyline.

    4. Gamevine on

You're going to need more stretch goals.

@Rolf W Jr SInce he said not tied to Steam for the non-DRM version, I can only assume there'd be a Steam version, then a fully free one. So, Steam would be the DRM you'd be dealing with, I think.@Nexaddo too, I think Steam support is a given, dunno about the other things you mentioned.

Hope my info's accurate, on this. xD

I'd definitely like to see mod tools. I feel they really extend games (including many of yours).

    7. Four on

Wicked! I'd love to see a linux version, we can get there! I'll definitely be upping my pledge in the next few days. Wisely done with the DRM-free possibility and digital-only tiers.
I think y'all should start to brainstorm higher stretch goals ;)

Please flesh out what you get between the %65, $100, and $140 tier. I am in for the $140 Tier, but if you show more value with the higher tiers, you may get more contributers. Congrats and i hope you add even more higher tiers to get me to bump my pledge!

I also second Avery's concern. The lack of mod support combined with the open question of DRM has me nervous.

Is this where we leave feedback/suggestions for things we want? Is there a better place to chime in? If not: Mod tools. Mod tools are important to me. I would like modding tools and opportunities. Thanks for doing this, glad it's working out so well, gushing enthusiasm, etc, etc.

Yes I'd also like to see mod tools as a stretch goal.

    12. Thomas Gonzales on

      PS, thanks guys! Great Goals!

Those aren't stretch goals, just announced game features.
The real stretch goals should START with 2.2m

    14. Thomas Gonzales on

Still curious about one thing. So it is made for Windows. Windows 8 tablets are very similar to PCs, some even transform. Is it similar enough, that I will be able to play this on a Windows 8 tablet PC? I would really love to see this. I would love it on Sony's 20" Tap 20!

    15. fredgiblet on

      @Rolf

      It'll be the Steam DRM

    16. Avery Campbell on

I'm a bit sad that mod tools aren't included as a stretch goal, but still looking good. :)

    17. Conrad Wong on

What I'd really like to hear more about is how you'll distinguish your game from the tons of medieval European/Tolkienesque fantasy retreads! PS:T always appealed most for being set in a big city (instead of bucolic countryside), wild fantasy combos, and races that weren't just humans/elves/dwarves/gnomes.

Put 'doors to other dimensions and big sprawling city settings' in and I'm upping my pledge big time!

That said, cats rule, we need more feline races. ^_^

    18. Antreges on

Let's get to that Linux goal.

Assuming a DRM-free option doesn't happen, what sort of DRM would be present in the game? I assume it would be in the form of an Obsidian account of some sort?

Mmmmm...I was hoping for Mac support a little earlier than that. Not that I really expect it to be a problem. One question -- I'm a Mac user, and I currently am pledged at the $20 level. Will you be using Steam for the Mac distribution as well, therefore making my pledge actually useful to me, or will I need to juggle things around later?

    22. Missing avatar

      Philipp on

Linux support is awesome. But I think you will get a lot more than 2.2 million.

    24. nexaddo on

Steam support(cloud saving and all).LAN Support and Online CO-OP when you reach 4million....which you will:).

House goal sounds amazing!!! Time to dig deeper into the old wallet lol
