I hope you guys release a bit more details about the world and the lore behind it.

I'd love to see OS X and iOS support, without it I would be deprived of the game. It sounds to me that this has a lot in common with the Wasteland 2 project which I know Chris is also involved with so going Unity and collaborating with them on the engine might make supporting every platform under the sun possible easily.

    3. Vladimir Lenin on

Please do not give the main character a quality voice actor(s). Let them stand around mutely! Voice is overrated.
After all, we can wish editor, module system like both NWNs had, Linux version, more locations, more NPCs, more Sawyer singing, more races/classes/skills.

I'd pay an extra $20 for a tshirt, but $100 is a bit steep for me. I wish some items could be sold separately from the tiers, but i guess that might add too much complexity

I know these guys personally... and trust me... they will make a GREAT game! :)

I "second" keeping voice acting to a minimum!

I ask instead that you keep voice acting to a minimum, please, and no voice for the MC is just fine with me! Just like New Vegas!

This is fantastic. I didn't actually get to read through everything - Is there going to be a modding or editing kit (Stretch goal)? One of the big frustrations going from Neverwinter Nights to Baldur's Gate was the difficulty of getting things into the Infinity Engine. I'd love to have a full set of tools for a similar engine like on this project. :D (Not saying there weren't tools available for Baldur's Gate, etc, but they were player-made and took a while to come out).

I agree, keep it modest, just accept the extra money, or at the very least require quite a bit extra for each stretch goal.

I'd love a stretch goal that gives us the option of adding on a cloth map for $10 or something

Please keep the stretch goals modest. 1.1 million doesn't seem that much to fund an ambitious game. And as you know, predictions about big projects are always, _always_ overly optimistic. If you estimate it will take 1.5 years and 1.1 million, it will probably take 2 years and 1.5 million, or more. Probably more.

    12. Some Guy on

Please don't expect a $280 kickstart everytime you make a game though. I'm stoked though to see you guys come back to isometric RPGdom!

Please give the main character a quality voice actor(s). Don't let them stand around mutely like they do in Dragon Age Origins or Kingdoms of Amalur while every other person you meet has full audio dialogue. Just ensure that you have both a male and female voice actor for the main character so you aren't forced into 1 sex.

    14. Chris Black on

Idea: Please make it possible to play Campaign mode in CoOp!

    15. Jeff Kaplan on

I remember Feargus from back in 2003 at Black Isles. I emailed back and forth several times. He's not only a great guy, but has incredible vision along with the ability to implement ideas in the proper context and scope. I will be upping my pledge and trying to help spread the word. It feels like the night before Christmas with cookies and milk laid out for Santa's helpers at Obsidian. You go guys! I think there is already a groundswell of interest from old and new gamers expecting to see the kind of groundbreaking AI and player flexibility you guys have all produced in previous games. It's like the iPhone5 release of games....ANTICIPATION! Put out those stretch goals with content and maybe DLC for early backers at 50+ dollars.
      Good hunting neighbors and friends!

Hurrah, Congratulations to Obsidian. Congratulations to the all the followers and supporters of the games developed by Obsidiian. A new day has dawned. Congratulations to Kickstarter for making this possible.

You guys have made some of my favorite games of all time..icewind dale, KOTR II, and Fallout New Vegas. I can't wait for this game when you can use all of your talents WITHOUT restrictions!

    18. Michael on

To be honest, i haven't played many isometric games so I wouldn't know what would be a good stretch goal. I dunno....more dungeons? More companions?

    19. Konstantin Karasik on

That is awesome, but can you make it less "read all this" and more audio related? it just becomes too much at some point that you lose the flow in the game.
I really like how they did NeverWinter Nights Mask of the Betrayer, where they have a Narrator like a DM telling you the scene sometimes,,,

    20. kinemitor on

the game will not be portable (android, IOS) so stop asking for that

    21. icecreamjones on

Fuck an iOS/Android version. Gameplay would have to be destroyed to make it fit touchscreen bullshit

    22. Josh Belville on

Congratulations! Take your time, make something spectacular.

    23. Sean South on

Grats! And please take your time. You guys make great games when publishers aren't forcing you to put them out before they are ready. Look forward to playing another of your great games!

      @Antti

I agree, something in the style of the BG2 strongholds would be excellent, though it can be easily to do in a rather mediocre manner (for example, the BG2 strongholds :D )

If the system requirements end up being low enough, I'd love to see iOS and Android versions - an isometric RPG lends itself quite well to smartphone/tablet, as the hordes of people playing Infinity Engine games on those platforms have shown (and as BG:EE is betting on)

No point thumbing noses at publishers, we don't really want them back in control anyway.

    36. Rizzo on

Please don't make the control anything like NWN2. I preferred NWN1 or any of the other games in the DnD string.

Wow, I think only 2 days ago you were at 1/3 of the goal. This is impressive. Take the time, make another eternal classic like Planescape and remind me again, in this era, why video games can not only be fun, but the most majestic of art.

Player owned castle/house/fortress/something that you can customize and maybe exists as an asset that enables certain quest paths (such as rooting out the bandits that are raiding your lands) or companions (say, if you're a well enough lord who has retainers).
