Have a question?
Hi there, I am a backer and have been looking forward to this game for a long time!
I received a steam code for the beta, but never received steam code for the final release version of the game. I was able to register on the obsidian forums and received "Obsidian Order of Eternity" forum badge, but unfortunately wasn't able to get help regarding my steam code.
How can I resolve this?
I am never crowdfunding again. If I had any idea that all these Kickstarted PC RPGs like Eternity, Torment, Wasteland 2, Divinity, etc would end up on PS4 where I'd need to pay for them ALL OVER AGAIN with no discount, I never would have Kickstarted them to begin with. It's really a slap in the face to have to pony up the funds all over again to play on my preferred platform (console)
Oh there is a Pillars of Eternity - The White March Part II released 16 February 2016 on Steam.
Going through some people's historical comments on KS does show that there really are a lot of misery guts in the world
Where in the controls do you do that? I've looked and can't find anywhere. Maybe I'm blind?
I'm sick of getting these updates trying to get me to back on their own crowdfunding platform. I would probably have backed if they had stayed here, but I flat out refuse to throw any money towards that misleading fig platform. So kindly stop sending me these updates. I didn't ask for them.
You wanted to use your own site, so stop abusing kickstarters system to poach backers. No amount of "oh hey look did you remember to back us on our own site" type of emails is going to get me to do it.
@lokiracer - are you talking about from this kickstarter campaign or elsewhere? If from this campaign, there are ways to remove yourself- they're in the kickstarter controls.
Disregard my last comment! I notice you did send an update out -_- Wish there was a delete comment feature on here
@Obsidian - So... since the backing for PoE II ends on the 24th, I am assuming it is safe to say you won't be giving us the mentioned discount code? You never even ended up making an update here about it either. I am sure you might have gotten more backers for it since some people who backed this might not have been aware of the other one.
Still receiving unsolicated marketing emails with no way to unsubscribe. firstname.lastname@example.org never responded or removed me from the lists I guess.
I sent an email to email@example.com regarding my Obsidian account over two weeks ago, and still haven't got any answer.
Could you please come back to me as soon as possible?
I backed a boxed set, way back when. Is that still planned?
@lokiracer - Our apologies, we really do try to make sure that people are removed from our main list. Apologies for asking you to do this, but could you e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org and ask to be removed. We will make sure you are removed from any and all of our lists right away. Again, you have our apologies.
I'm really happy about the new Crowdfunding Campaign. I don't mind so much that it's not on Kickstarter since I haven't been disappointed in the past and fully trust them and their new Platform.
Even though the fees will be reduced on their own site I guess that they might not reach the same level of funding that the sheer amount of potential backers on Kickstarter would have been able to supply.
Anyway - I am aboard the train again - toot toot.... ;-)
I've asked multiple times to be unsubscribed from your unsolicated marketing emails. You should read up on CANSPAM laws as you're in volation of them and it's extremely annoying.
Hey everyone! To touch on what Gamehorder said, we will absolutely be getting an update ready for you all. Our main point of not getting one out today at the launch is we already had plans to send you a discount code due to being the amazing previous Backers that you are. Because of that, we didn't want to double up your inbox's with similar announcements. A more formal Backer Update will be coming your way soon as we get into stretch goals for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire.
That said, we do want to make sure to extend a huge thank you to you all for making it possible to be discussing a sequel of Pillars in the first place. You helped make the original game a reality and we will never forget that.
not sure why they didn't post an update here about this. there should have cause I had no clue it even launched
If they are going to do a crowdfunded effort for Tyranny, then it will likely be on Fig, which they have helped co-found.
With the title and the way the screen shots came up on my computer I saw this update and it looked like the newly announced game was Ingdo Nothing lasts.
If they don't feel they need to put it on KS, they shouldn't. A KS is like a political campaign. It puts an incredible amount of pressure on the already ridiculous dev process. Plus, the amount of money taken out via fees and rewards and refunds are RIDICULOUS. Every copy they give away on Kickstarter is a copy they did not sell.
Tyranny sounds very interesting and I would love to learn more about it. I wasn't able to find too much information on the net. Will it be on Kickstarter and when can we be expected to hear more? Thanks.
Will Tyranny come to Kickstarter as well? I am sure it will be a great game, as I trust you to do that. However, with more funding, you could make it even better, right?
I was told the novella was in editing in August.
@Obsidian I can't seem to find the Tyranny Kickstarter page?
So, I was just wondering if there's any updates about the "Pillars of Eternity: Novella by Chris Avellone"? Any update would be great.
Hi All, I just wanted to drop in and ask that you give a shout out to Consortium: The Tower if you have any updates on the horizon. It's the (bigger sequel) to an RPG FPS that really showcased non-linear, reactive storytelling in a way that I haven't seen in a game before. I get the feeling that anybody who considers story in games to be of critical importance to their enjoyment of a game (me and a legion of your other pledgers) would enjoy both the original and this sequel. The campaign is struggling at the moment, but visibility via a few big names would change that instantly.
@Scotty - We modeled how the expansion is accessed in the same way as Tales of the Sword Coast for Baldur's Gate (and how other IE games and even our own Fallout: New Vegas). This way the expansion could be accessed as a part of the whole story. As stated below, the save that is auto-made before the end of the game is labeled as such so you can go back and access this content if you've made it through to the end of the game. We apologize for any inconvenience.
@Jonah - In Update #86 we explained that we weren't going to be doing a physical version of the documentary and only that the digital version would be available. Because of that, that is how the notepad came into existence.
I have the $140 backer level. Am I getting the Making of documentary in the mail?
If you don't add a way for those who've completed the main campaign to be able to play the expansion, then many of us aren't buying it.
I forgot I backed this. Must scan me email for key
I finally got around to playing Pillars. It's excellent and everything I hoped for! Great job guys!!
@Obsidian - Counting play time on Steam will not correctly represent all the players that e.g. use the gog drm-free version and I could imagine lots of Linux users do that. I, personally have never played it on steam. Not sure if that would change your numbers but at least they are questionable. As a Linux user, I am interested in seeing this platform getting more high quality games and I found it pretty awesome that POE is one I can play. I am following Linux game statistics for quite some time. If it really turns out that Linux usage is in the low one digit percentage then I understand that game companies don't produce Linux games and have to live with it. But if it is just because of wrong statistical analysis this is a bad thing for Linux games and in the end also for the gaming industry because they could address more people and earn real money that way. I still have some hope for Linux gaming. I hope you do, too.
@Everyone If you have a specific question about fulfillment (you should have something and you don't have it) first check our backer portal at http://eternity.obsidian.net/backer. If that doesn't help, always feel free to e-mail us at email@example.com (probably the fastest way to get things resolved), message us here in Kickstarter, or leave a comment.
@totoro666 - Can you e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org? We'll make sure to help you and figure out why you don't have the key for The White March.
@Brian Sfinas - Can you e-mail email@example.com about the deliverables that are missing from your $140 tier? The only thing that should be missing is the novella by Chris Avellone, which should be released very soon. If you are missing other things, we will make sure you get them as quickly as possible. Apologies for the delays.
@Gunther Hutzl - We looked at gameplay time on Steam. So of all the hours that were spent playing Pillars on Steam around 1.5% was on the Linux platform.
@Christopher Oatis - Sorry you feel that way about the White March. A few things I wanted to explain (1) We modeled what we did based upon how Tales of the Sword Coast worked with Baldur's Gate 1. (2) If you lost 10 hours of game time, that was not our intention - the final save (which is done automatically and labeled) is two maps before the end of the game, which should be about 30 minutes of game time. It's possible something went wrong. Could you e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll try to figure out why you lost those 10 hours. (3) As for the design as a whole, we did try to come up with a way for people to enjoy the game who were both in the middle of it and at the end of it. We'll look at how that worked some more and see if there are ways we can deal with that better.
I think the design of the access of the White March is pure garbage. Its one of those deals that requires you to load a saved gamed and lose 10 hrs of play time or more, plus items, plus levels etc... and go back in the middle of the adventure to tack on a side Quest. How hard would it have been to let you load any save and go from there? Or let it pick up after the last boss fight? Its designed to reward people who buy the game of year edition or whatever its going to be called and punishes everyone who supported this game played it early. This is poor design at its worst. I feel bad for people I've seen on forums complaining that they don't even have a save before the last act. I don't seen how this make sense in any world
I have read an article about POE on the german pro-linux.de site. You basically say that the linux port was not worth the effort. You say 1.5% if the POE gamers are Linux users. Out of curiosity: How do you measure who is using Linux/Windows/Mac?
@Brian same here, though it would be nice ... And it wasn't !
There are several deliverables missing from my $140 tier. Frankly, I'm surprised part 1 of the DLC wasn't made free to all backers to compensate for the missing deliverables we paid for. You could have charged for part 2 and used part 1 to make up for the ghost items. Oh well, I'm not paying even more so I'll wait until it's on a steam sale. Shouldn't be more than a month or two before it's half off.
hi guys! i am an early backer at 20$, but i take also the tier for having the extensions, and i didn t received the white march on steam or a code to activate it..
Awesome, got it working, thanks for the speedy response!
Hey, Bennie and Smoothie, update #92 (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/obsidian/project-eternity/posts/1178264) went over how to get your digital keys. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to email us at email@example.com and I'll gladly help!
Yeah I would also like to know how I can get my digital copy of this game. Backed it way back when, never got a key though...
Hi how do I get my digital download of the game? still waiting~ :)
@Steven Kiehl - I'll talk to Justin to see if he can do anything for that.
@GvM - The novella is in the editing phase and will hopefully be ready to be released soon!
Ho, I don't get it ... F*** ...
Downloading patch 2.0 and expansion right now on GOG. Can't wait to play it :D
Ready for the extension ... I hope so :)
Is there a status on the novella? Is the novella coming out at all as Chris left?
Just asking as this is not the only project missing a novella written by Chris Avellone.
Thanks in advance
