IT'S OVER N... Wait... um, this is embarrassing.
To all who helped make this project a reality,
Good news and bad news.
The good news is that we've reached our goal of $9000. Which is undeniably awesome and fluffy and cuddly and makes you feel warm inside. The short film will most certainly get made now, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of everyone who donated. I shall get about the business of ensuring everyone gets their rewards.
The bad news is... well, I totally walked into the trap. The meme trap.
My own fault for not seeing it, really. I'm the idiot who set my goal at nine thousand dollars. And I know for a fact that most of the people who donated are fans of genre fiction in general, and if they are not fans of Japanese animation already, it's quite likely that they have at least a cursory knowledge of the works of Akira Toriyama. In particular, Dragon Ball. And even more in particular, Dragon Ball Z. And even more in in particular particular, that one damn line.
You know the line.
I deeply, deeply apologize. I have campaigned for most of my life against the overuse of tired internet memes, and I am deeply ashamed to have perpetuated one. Let me assure everyone who donated that it was never my intent to advanced this tired phrase beyond all context and meaning. It is a senseless phrase now, and under normal circumstances I would have done my best to avoid it.
But at least I can take comfort knowing that the generosity of my backers has let this project come to fruition. The deadline is still far off, donations will still be accepted and rewards shall still be given. Thank you.
Our budget is now over 9000.
