For anyone who follows us on social media, you're probably familiar with what we call: #thepitchpleasejourney. It may look like a silly hashtag, but for us it represents everything we've accomplished and overcome as a group. From the very start, Pitch, Please! was a place for talented female singers to express themselves in a competitive and high-caliber group that challenged the standards of traditional collegiate a cappella. We rock feminine all-black outfits and sky-high gold glitter stilettos; we embrace what makes us women, what, typically, may be viewed as limiting and own it. We want to show people (young girls in particular!) that you should not have to apologize for being a strong woman. Believing there is strength and beauty in femininity and sisterhood is incredibly empowering!
In just three years, we've competed in and placed at both the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) and Boston Sings (BOSS), received 'Favorite Female Collegiate Group' at CASA's 2013 A Cappella Community Awards, released an EP, and to top it all off, we're one of the five groups featured on POP TV's docu-series, 'Sing It On!' To keep up our momentum competitively, and to create a memento of the success we have achieved so far, we are recording a full-length album. Every song on this album has been chosen because it is meaningful to us - this album is a reflection of us as a group and we do not take that lightly!
However, creating an album is an expensive ordeal, financially, emotionally, and mentally. We need your help in order to make this happen. Please donate what you can, anything at all helps! Even if you can't make a physical donation, you can help us by sharing this campaign on social media, through email, on the streets of Boston - get the word out! We love and appreciate all of you, and cannot wait to share what's next for us on #thepitchpleasejourney!
Risks and challenges
The $15,000 we've set as our campaign goal will go to The Vocal Company, our guides in creating this album! The money will go towards recording time in the studio, mixing, editing, and mastering the audio, as well as hard copies of the album and getting it up on sites like iTunes, Loudr, and Spotify.
If we exceed our goal, we would love to produce more videos like Howl, featured above (stay posted for a YouTube release soon). The audio recording and mastering is courtesy of Liquid 5th, and is a project that has been in the works since December of last year. Also, we'd like to give a huge shout out to Shams Ahmed for being the visionary behind this Kickstarter video and for pulling it all together! We'd love the opportunity to continue sharing more of what we do with all of you.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
