HUGE THANKS, and looking toward the future!
We want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for all of your support. The last 30 days were quite the adventure and even though we missed our goal last week we aren't letting that get us down!
The final day of the kickstarter was filled with a bunch of unfortunate events. I missed my morning flight to San Francisco by mere minutes costing me $50 & 7 hours of my life. The airport Wifi was super slow so I couldn't stream anything and getting into San Francisco at 9PM I still had to scramble to find somewhere to sleep. I ended up in a friend's apartment, sans any sort of wifi or cell reception, so I turned on Archer and fell asleep.
I awoke feeling at peace with the Kickstarter's funding being unsuccessful, we had worked hard, but not hard enough.
I was ready to take on the week at the Game Developers Conference with Manny. At GDC there was a very strong positive vibe from many people about Treachery in Beatdown City. Many had heard about the game and were sorry to hear that the Kickstarter was unsuccessful. Many more didn't even know it was running.
We were given space to demo at a couple of events and we also recorded a few interviews.
The overwhelming support from everyone and timing of a few events coming up means that we are hitting the ground running.
The road to relaunch
We believe in Treachery in Beatdown City and we can't let it go away as a project. The large amount of press we received along with the huge swell of positivity around it means we have to do whatever we can to get it made.
With that said, we are going to ride the positive vibes, and the news stories, and we are going to launch again on Monday, April 7th - just 2 weeks from now! And later that week we will be up at PAX East where we will be demoing at a couple of spots, will update you all very soon!
I learned a great deal about how to run a campaign. The chief idea is spreading the word early and we are doing that as of last week! Many people at GDC had heard about the game, were interested in it, perhaps backed it, but many more just didn't know the kickstarter was even happening - so we are going to remedy that.
What can you do?
Next Monday we will be reaching out with more updates, and we will remind everyone a day before the kickstarter launches.
What you can do is share the heck out of this so everyone knows that Treachery in Beatdown City is coming back to Kickstarter.
If we can get to this level of funding again right off the bat, we will get featured more, and get in front of more eyes.
What are we doing?
Besides talking to more press, and working on new ways to get the word out there, we are going to make sure to have some new cool stuff to show all of you, some more insights into the development of the game, and more! On top of that we will be retooling our backer tiers and communicate better about what each tier brings.
We might even have some more concrete info on console/handheld support.
Next week we will have more updates, so be ready! And again, thanks from all of us!
