A design you own train contest, and another bit of Welsh!

Posted by NSKN Games (Creator)

Ladies and Gentlemen!

As you very well know, Snowdonia Deluxe Master Set comes with an obscene amount of content, and we're adding (actually, you are adding) more and more daily. Still, there is more we could have in that mighty box, right?

Right. So, here's where you come in!

We have just created a special Geek List on Board Game Geek, where everybody can submit their own ideas for a completely new Train Card for Snowdonia Deluxe Master Set. You can find it here (or you can simply click on the image above). On July 23rd (that's on Monday, two weeks from when this update was published) we will look at entries with most thumbs, and - after Tony Boydell himself approves them - start preparing them to be published as part of the Snowdonia Deluxe Master Set.

Yes, that means your Train Card can become a credited, official part of Snowdonia's history! So, if you're feeling creative, go forth and design! And if you're feeling helpful, subscribe to the Geek List and thumb the entries you like the most!

And speaking of being helpful, here's another Welsh lesson!

More essential phrases to utter around a great game of Snowdonia - and another opportunity to spread the word by sharing our videos to help others find out about the project!

Thank you, and have a great day!

how many "design your own train" cards will you be picking? There's at least two or three that I really like. Pity if some of them don't get included just cuz it doesn't have the most thumbs.

When I click the link it tells me "That Geeklist does no exist"

I see the list but I cannot add items.

Well... since we can't post to the list anymore, I'm assuming we can do that here?

I'd suggest "Harvest" or "Sugar Mountain" as a name for a train. Neil Young had a huge train collection that he auctioned off to charity and he explained his collection was a way he bonded with his son.

ok - thanks. Just was wondering, since if the contest is ever on again, I would have some ideas of train engines but alas "clueless" on what makes the card stats a good one (i.e. never played the know, that problem of supply and demand, etc)...

@Thomas Vilfroy: For contest entries? Absolutely. However, we would change any potentially IP infringing material. Nonetheless, the point is somewhat moot for now. Still, that was one awesome pun!

In regards to trains contest...I gather images from another train say, Iron Dragon, would be valid ?

Probably the same group of people who call 911 for stupid reasons - some of which gets news - and makes you wonder what type of people we have in the society.

My best bet - the anti-train has no traction (get it?...I have tons...)

Ladies and Gentlemen, the list is gone. It was reported by somebody as inappropriate and set to private by the admins. We can see it, but nobody else can (so everything on it is preserved). We don't know exactly what will happen to it next, but we'll figure it out. Please stay tuned.
@Paul Kellett: I guess you were closest to the truth. A slightly saddened high five? ;-)

I presume the Geeklist has been deleted by BGG's overzealous, heavy-handed and mostly unhelpful moderators.

The link above is broken- no such Geeklist

Please fix it so we can all submit lots of trains!

    15. Thomas Vilfroy on

      odd..the link doesn't work..says the geeklist doesn't exist...

    16. Greg Phillips

Please please please put in an Ivor the Engine card! With a baby dragon in the firebox. If it's not Ivor...maybe it could be Ivor-y the Engine (see what I did there?), green, baby dragon, boom.

      Love it :)
I decided to go ahead and just submitted the first entry. Really looking forward to seeing what people will come up with!

@The Doctor: You'll definitely get on the good side of this update's author, as he loves Back to th Future... as well as the Doctor ;-)

    20. The Doctor on

Definitely need a Time Traveling Train, I know Back to the Future did it, but it would still be a cool idea. I know other games (Steampunk Rally) make references to Back to the Future.

I'll vote for whatever is named Trainy McTrainface...

    22. Angela M.

Yeah, you did it! Thanks for adopting the idea, I know I'll really like the backers train :)
