Have a question?
Have you guys abandoned this? This little device has really come into its own now I'm doing a microprocessor course for labs at uni but I desperately need the X-Y mode!
Are you guys going to update the application?
I am getting this error "nScope failed to connect (o_O) " Anyone faced this I am running firmware version 0.7. please help
Hmm... no response to this or the direct message I sent. Guess we're not getting labs?
Also very interested in the labs...
Labs are in the works. We're moving slower than we planned, but we're not stopping. :)
Hi, are you going to do the tutorials of the strech goals?
Love this thing, but can we have more Labs? Those seem like a fantastic way to get people started (me included). I did lab 1 but want to do more. Also note that on your website your Labs are not showing images.
It seems we sent your nScope back in January, but it was lost in the post. Sent you a PM.
Hello, I have been waiting eagerly for the nScope, but haven't received it yet.
Received new nScope; it works well!
I've sended to you "damaged" unit (i write a PM...)
Got mine today. love the product ..hardware is great...nscope software needs some improvement.
Hi, I'm backer #101.
My nScope has been returned before I receive it.
May I ask you to send it again?
If you need additional postage, I will pay it.
I also sent this question by message and email, but nothing responds.
Where is my nScope??
Hi guys. Are you continuing the Lab series? This is a great way to get my 9 year old into electronics and computer programming, it is so easy this way. So when (or where) is Lab 2?
Excellent, I look forward to improvements in the scope software. I can see it's possible to get in there and write some code, but it would be ever so nice if data could be transferred to MathCad or MatLab, Spice like PSpice or for that matter even Excel using a simple menu commands without having to dig into NScope's API. Now, for others, digging in would be great and it will always be possible to do more via the API of course.
@Paul: Thanks for the encouragement.
First off, you should check out nScopeAPI. We give you access to the low-level functions to use nScope however you like. In fact, I use it at work exactly as you described: a simple data acquisition tool. We don't have it documented yet, but we're working on improving that as we speak. And if you're bold, it's not too difficult to pick up.
nScope didn't actually start out in 2010. But until 2015, it was written in Java. After being routinely frustrated with Java, we started from scratch and began nScope as it is now, a cross-platform C++ application. Improvements are in the works, and we'll be releasing them within the coming weeks.
Hi NScope people:
I have mine. Very easy to get going under Windows 7. As I'm sure you know, the Nscope software is at the concept demo stage. I'm looking forward to seeing a more complete scope application. (But I note there has been an NScope since 2010 so there has been time to do more, methinks.) But look - just add the capability to stream N words of output to a file, and many of us will be able to take it from there. Just this one little feature would give engineers a way to analyse acquired data, taking the NScope from deserving a, "nice job, but waiting for much more complete scope software" evaluation to being a "...nice simple data acquisition tool for my lab work," actual usable lab tool. Right now it's not... but SO CLOSE!
it looks like I'm the only one who still waiting for his nscope.
Hi Guy's Just picked the kit up from the post office today, packaging was great and unusually for Dubai undamaged !! Long weekend coming up so looking forward to getting down in the man cave and "playing" :)
Same here - just fetched from customs (try to explain them, WHAT this is...:-) ). Will try it soon, Thanks!
Finally received my Kit... Great package team.
Waiting for weekend to do some tests.... :)
Is there a way to easy produse a RC style PWM signal for testing of servos, gyros etc?
Hi! Good going on your progress! I'm a backer, and I got my ruler long ago, but, I'd love to know about a chance to buy an actual nScope. Will there be extras? Thanks in advance!
Was there a list (with amounts) of the parts in the kit?
I want to get the parts that I don't have.
Thank you very much! Hopefully I don't have to wait much longer..
Will keep you guys posted.
We don't have a system for sending out tracking numbers. We messaged you via PM, Marc.
Backer 594! Still waiting....... Not even a tracking number...........
@nLabs thank you for the update - looking forward to be sent an email that my pledge had been shipped and the tracking number.
@Miguel - Relax, these guys are legit... no rides are being taken here!
@nLabs - This is an excellent product! Should be in every technical school that offers some form of electronic course. Wish I had it back in the day...
Congratulations on a successful (In my mind) campaign!
@Miguel: We now have the kits, and are packing them up. We'll post an update when we get a chance. Both the statements were true. The first one was told from the perspective of the manufacturer. They had all the parts except one, and were waiting on one more. Once they got it in, they assembled them all into a kit, and shipped them to us. We received the first batch of kits on Friday, after a more than 2-week customs delay, which we hope to have fixed for our next batch.
Thanks for your patience.
@nLabs another 5 days and still no updates with regards to customs....
With regards to your message below 'we don't have any parts of the kits yet' and your previous update 'For those backers who did order an nScope kit, we're still waiting on that elusive backordered part...... Once we get that in, we'll package that up with your nScope and send it your way.'
Which one is true!! Can you share the tracking number or some proof that you are not taking us for a ride?
@Miguel: The kits are coming fully assembled from our manufacturer. We do not have in possession any parts of the kit yet.
@nLabs I think you can do more.... Offer to ship the kit without this part! And ship the part later... Some of us might even opt to not get the part if it's something we already have plenty in our box of electronics..... come on... after all the good work and shipping all others pledges ours who paid more still haven't received ours :( so sad.
@Marc, @Miguel: unfortunately, we still haven't cleared customs. The reality is they all sitting at the airport here in Chicago waiting on people to clear us. The process is very slow for us, we're in daily communication, but for some reason it hasn't gone through yet.
We're all ready to go on our end. As soon as it clears, we can begin shipping. Unfortunately, that's all we can really do.
Two weeks since my last post and still waiting!!
How difficult can things be??
@nLabs: Customs cleared I hope... Any chance we get shipment this week?
@Richard: Ability to set Y-axis offset is coming in the next release, which we hope to get out in the beginning of April. AC coupling was a feature that we thought about, but decided not to implement due to rising costs. It is simple enough to implement yourself by putting a 1µF capacitor in series between the input and your desired measurement. This will high-pass filter the signal with a time constant of 10s.
The requested features on the outputs are hardware limited, but are super easy to build with your own circuitry. We can release some how-tos for extending the capability of the function generator outputs.
@Miguel: Kits are so close to being here. They are just stuck in customs right now.
@Ango: sent a private message to begin debugging. Units were tested at the factory. Thus far, we have had less than 1% failure rates.
If no lights on nScope light up when it is plugged into a computer, it's possible that USB communication is not successful. To test whether or not the nScope is connected via USB, you can view the device manager on Windows, or the system report on Mac. If you do not see nScope listed in the USB device list, then a hardware problem is likely.
Faulty new unit?
I sent a private email but I have not response.
I'm backer 1776; I've received in Spain my nScope a few weeks ago; but I'm working in Africa and I get my nScope on March 06 (I traveled to Spain these dates)
I've tried to run in my MAC with old OSX and application don't run “not valid for this operating system”
On March 13 I returned to Africa, i tested in my MBA with new OS and application runs OK; but my nScope doesn't work.
On screen appears “nScope failed to connect (o_O)”
I've tried to update firmware but application crash; after message “please unplug nScope and re-plug while holding button” it freezes.
No screen information about update progress, no light on nScope and application not responding (is necessary forced to close)
I also tested in my work under Windows 7 OS, and get same bad results :-(
Please; something I can do to test my nScope? Some kind of hard reset or low level reboot?
Does units been tested before shipment?
Someone have same problem? Any idea?
@nLabs - have you received the "Kits" missing parts yet ? Any update on new shipping dates ?
Any thoughts on when we might get some updated software for the nscope - I know you have been busy with the shipping of the hardware but a PC based scope is only ever as good as its software.
Couple of things would make the scope much more useable such as an AC/DC coupling option and the ability to set the Y axis offset.
I'm not sure whether this is going to be a hardware restriction but perhaps add a bipolar/uni polar option to the pulse output if this isn't possible then maybe add a square wave to the analogue output such that we can get a bipolar output.
Right now the hardware is looking good but the software is very much still an early beta (0.6).
Given it was due for a Sept '15 delivery and notwithstanding the hard work you have put in getting the hardware out, there has been long periods of waiting for us all and might I respectfully suggest I think we might have all expected the software to have moved a little further on by now.
Keep up the good work and look forward to seeing a much improved software once you get past the shipping stress.
Hi, I'm backer no.706. I still haven't received my package. can you please give me shipping information of my package ??
I pick up mine today at the post office. Made it down to Chile. Thanks.
@Marc: We're not super happy about it either. We received an e-mail on Feb 25 from our manufacturer stating that packing and shipment would happen within a week. Late last night we finally received shipment notification and a tracking number. Assuming customs goes smoothly, we will receive the kits on Monday of next week, and will begin shipping to our backers immediately.
I'm also a KIT backer with number 594!
And I'm still waiting!! Last post mentioned just a couple of days before they where ready to be send! What is the defenition off a couple of days!
Thanks for the revised Windows installer on Github. Now nScope works on my Win XP laptop! I uninstalled the old application and then installed the newly downloaded nScope application, which started up fine. Then when I plugged in the nScope, I let Windows install generic HID drivers for the USB port, and then voila, the lights came on.
I picked the package at customs today. Great little thing. Nicely packed. Operations instructions is a nice touch. :-)
@Miguel: We're expecting them to ship from our manufacturer any day now. Once they ship, we'll be working as fast as we can to get them out.
Any update on the KITS Pledge ? Can't we get the pledge minus one component and you ship the missing component later ? It's crazy that we just have been put at the end of the list :(
