A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
This is a charge-and-sync cable that is hidden within a braided leather bracelet and built with DuPont™ Kevlar® Bulletproof fiber.
NILS is designed with a purpose to set your hands free from carrying any excess cords, which function as a charge-and-sync wearable cable. Nobody would notice what it really is, it can be your bracelet daily.
We believe that the humble yet smart design by showcasing practical and sophisticated combination to the market would be a new trend.
First of all, the traditional charging cables are not wearable. You store them either in your bags or pockets, the least you want is when your device flags in low battery, yet you couldn’t sort out your tangled cables. By the time you did, your phone is power off.
It is a bit annoying, isn’t it?
Let alone, traditional cables are less appealing, you can lose them by being picked up by someone else as they all look similar.
To share your pain, we are proud to present NILS to you. NILS is the first ever charging cable bracelet in the world that does not sacrifice the aesthetic for its functionality.
A great product is all about attitude and being relevant. Our innovation process not only included creativity, but also usability, accessibility, and functionality. A perfect balance between classy and quality, the matte finish on the metal case elevates the sleek look and retain a touch of design details.
NILS, a chic accessory-like charging cable can perfectly integrate into your lifestyle.
Magnets weren't included in the Alpha Design, we later learnt that this Alpha Design was not practical, it could be inconvenient for users.
You can clearly see that the Final Design has a more streamlined case design.
You can see a much better finish and design on our final prototype.
We agree that Kickstarter is a place to bring something new to life.
We have decided to modify our current casing design into a better one. Not only the magnets will hold the case together and now even without the magnet, the cable itself could hold up well.
As you can see in the updated design, we have made 2 changes.
At the USB-A case(Left), we created a hollow place to allow the newly design tongue(an extended part of the case itself) of the connector case(Right) to slide into it to secure the cases even better, we will also do various tests to make sure it can stand for thousands of usage.
XS Size is available NOW
We currently have 3 sizes, S, M, L. As we have noticed there's an increasing demand for a skinny wrist, we announced that XS Size will be available when we have successfully funded.
Some of you may concern about the production lead time, the timeframe for the order delivery. As we have decided to alter the design of the casing, we will not be able to do a pre-production during the campaign.
But please rest assured that this changes would not affect the delivery schedule.
NILS' simplistic yet groovy designs with the metal casing will give you the luxurious look and feel that no other phone accessory does.
#1 Because we are f#cking insane.
We want to attract as many backers as we can in the early stage of the campaign to increase our exposure on Kickstarter, even though we can't make any profit from it.
#2 That's what crowdfunding means right?
We are not trying to make lots of profit from you, instead we would love to gather as many backers as possible to support us, to enjoy the product we create.
#3 We believe in the quality of our products.
We want our backers to be happy and support our products in the future.
We are a group of five with different backgrounds and experiences.
One day we came across an idea of transforming a cable into something else, something special.
We understand that charging cable is not rocket science. What we need to do is to think out of the box, to implement the user-oriented design into a cable.
We want to create a phone accessory brand with a modern and luxurious design with reasonable and fair pricing.
And here we need your support to help us to bring this to the world.
In Partnership with
Risks and challenges
We are targeting to deliver NILS to you TWO months after the end of the campaign, this needs a very smooth production process which we are very confident of, though there may have some unforeseeable incidents that may be happened, we also have submitted the MFi certification application to Apple, it would take some time to get feedback from them, however we will work our guts out to deliver it to you as soon as possible.
