We’re planning our first major fundraising event of the year, a NonPro #MovieNight Marathon! 📽️
The cast and crew from Non-Productive.com is planning a marathon of some of the best of the worst public domain movies of all time! Best of all, we're streaming this event LIVE to our fans who get the pleasure of watching us suffer without having to struggle through these movies themselves!
If we reach our goal, we've convinced some of our most popular podcast hosts and comedian to stage a live streaming marathon of these sometimes terrible flicks, complete with color commentary, over at our Rabb.it room, where every backer of this Kickstarter will get an exclusive invite to come watch along with us!
⚖️ Charitable Suffering 🙏
And why are we doing this to ourselves? Why for a good cause, of course!
We spend a lot of time talking about mass entertainment here at NonPro, and while these block-buster franchises are tons of fun - it can sometimes feel a bit burdensome find anything worth talking about regardless the latest installment of a hit IP.
We want to refocus some attention on things without multi-million dollar advertising budgets, and hosting a movie marathon packed with public domain and copy-left media is right up our alley - but we can use your help to make this a reality!
This movie marathon is just one of the many projects gearing up at NonPro for the next season, including our podcasts, articles, and special events. It takes money to pay the creative folks that bring us the Women in Fiction contest every year, green to get us to locations where we break what's Near Mint in Comics, and filthy lucre if we're ever to get that true crime show off the ground. We can use your help.
Every dollar we earn through this Kickstarter will enable us to rent the studio and pay our hosts to sit in and riff on the movies we've selected, as well as securing bandwidth and server fees to host the room so all our backers can join in!
And hey, we're also raising awareness for the ACLU, because everyone deserves a voice in this crazy mixed up world!
💸 More Money > Worse Movies! 🤢
The more money we make, the more (and worse) movies we’ll watch! As this fundraiser goes on, we'll release new milestones of terrible flicks we can work our way up to! Want to see us struggle through an obscure Japanese horror-romance or an unreleased Fantastic Super-Hero film made exclusively to retain production rights? Sure you do! Follow this project for the funding goals we intend to reach!
🎞️ Our Funded Movies! 🎦
Our initial goal is focused on getting us to marathon three amazing films we hope you'll love!
The movies we add on via stretch goals will be a lot worst!
Rating: 4.2/10 - A doctor experimenting with transplant techniques keeps his girlfriend's head alive when she is decapitated in a car crash, then goes hunting for a new body.
Rating: 7.9/10 - The film follows a group of characters who barricade themselves in an old farmhouse in an attempt to remain safe from these bloodthirsty, flesh-eating monsters...
Rating: 7.3/10 - A little girl is left by her father in an exclusive seminary for girls, due to her father having to go to South Africa to fight in the Second Boer War.
Rating: 6.6/10 - A young man and his telepathic dog wander a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
Rating: 3.7/10 - Cautionary tale features a fictionalized take on the use of marijuana. A trio of drug dealers lead innocent teenagers to become addicted to "reefer" cigarettes by holding wild parties with jazz music.
👍 And Our Next Stretch-Goal Is... 🎞️
A CAVALCADE OF SHORT FILMS!
Throughout the marathon, we'll be watching short films to break up the monotony and/or break our hosts sanity, whichever comes first!
Most of our films will be terrible educational shorts and mental hygiene films, but a few will come from backers that have elected our brand-new SUBMIT YOUR SHORTS reward! Neat!
But this can only happen if you help us reach our $200 goal today!
Risks and challenges
No risks, we already have the movies and the technology ready. We've streamed content like this before, and we're adept at watching things we probably shouldn't. Our only question is how far we'll go!
Well, we're risking our sanity, but that's fine. It's all fine.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
