Very Important Update and a Big Decision

Dear Backers,

Hope you are doing well. We understand that you may be feeling frustrated and maybe even angry at the moment in regards to the delay. We, like you, don't enjoy the delay. So in thinking what would be best for you, we made a big decision today. Please read on.

The Key Issue at Hand

For the past months, our hardware team has been working with all major chipset manufacturers, such as Cypress, TI, VIA, and Etron. We've tested all engineering samples with the promise of USB 3.0 and mDP and we’ve developed PCB boards based on those samples. After the last few months of thorough testing, we are finding continuous problems. 

A few chipsets work but via our various testing, we are finding out that they don't work 100% reliably and not at the standard that we want. Despite our efforts to secure working and stable chipsets, the chipset manufacturers don't appear to have viable solutions based on our testing and they do not know when they will. This is the key reason why no one else have been able to produce a USB-C hub for mDP and USB 3.0 for the new MacBook.

The Best Solution 

Full Refund: Instead of having you, our backers, wait indefinitely until there's a stable chipset solution for USB 3.0 and mDP, we feel that the fair thing to do is to refund you 100% of your Kickstarter pledge for those who bought a Hub+. We will also go through previous refunds and refund the other 8% that we've paid out to Kickstarter. We understand the unpleasant feeling of waiting for something and we don't want to put you through more of that.

Discount for the Future: If and when we do have a USB-C hub with USB 3.0 and mDP, we'll let you know and we'd be happy to offer you the product at the same Kickstarter price as thanks to being an early supporter.

Free Gift: On the other hand, we're happy to gift the mini adapter that was included as part of select reward tiers as a show of appreciation for your early support for our product. It means a lot to us since that was our first crowdfunding project.

Dates

To obtain your refunds, no action is needed on your part. We just ask for your patience. Our customer support team will go through each Hub+ Kickstarter order and refund all Kickstarter backers their full amount within 1 month by November 12th if not earlier. We'll need the time to go through 8000+ orders.

For those who were refunded their pledge previously but minus the 8% that was paid out to Kickstarter, we will refund you your 8% by November 20th.

Although this was not how we wanted to end our campaign, we hope that you'll agree with us that this was the best solution given the situation. We appreciate your being part of this journey.

      I would second Gerald's comments. Please don't refund the full money; Do have a look at "Satechi" have brought into the market, its still a USB A port adapter for new MacBook. Even though we can't use USB-C now, I love the other available ports and also a portable iPhone battery charger!

      Instead of refunding all the money, how about developing a USB-2 version (existing chips should work) so many of us can get multiple port connectivity on our new MacBooks. USB-3 would be nice, but being able to use my existing USB-2 drives, as well as all manner of SD cards while simultaneously charging the device, definitely would be welcome.

      Really appreciate your communication and integrity. Personally, I chose to back you, period. Nobody else has managed to come close to the product you are working on. I'd be ok with you keeping my financial backing so that you can continue to develop the product, then having it sent to me once perfected. Two USB2 ports and a USB-C power port are all I need. Cheers!

      Please continue working on you beautiful concept. If it'll take another couple of months - not great, but still...
      Please keep me posted, especially for any solution that has the mDP working together with at least USC-C power and one more USB port (2 is ok, 3 would be better, of course).
      Looking forward to Hub+ finally being available!

      Our customer service is now working hard to refund all backer and pre-orders. If you received a notification via Kickstarter or nonda.co, it means we have refund to your original payment account, either credit card or PayPal. While it takes up to 7 business days depending on the bank institution you are with.

      Regarding the Hub+ mini, we will have 20 Hub+ mini units ready for testing by next week, so we're looking for interested testers who can work closely with us and provide feedback. If you’re interesting in testing, go to http://www.nonda.co/pages/a-fans to sign-up for our a-Fans beta testing program by next Wednesday, October 28th, 11:59 PM PST. We’ll announce who those 20 individuals are. Even if you're not selected, you'll have an opportunity to test our future products by being part of our a-Fans community.

      Continue to persevere! I think you have a beautiful aesthetic and this setback shouldn't discourage you from pursuing this project. Kickstarter members are very loyal, and though we are disappointed that we don't have a product, we all understand that this is a funding campaign, not a goods seller. Look forward to see what else Nonda have up their sleeves for the future!

      That was a good decision, it would have been better to have further updates as the shipping dates slipped. Hope you can figure out the mDP as that is what I wanted the most so I can use the macbook with my Apple Display. Good Luck. No one has a female mDP right now.

When we go through the refund process, we will note who has had their credit cards canceled since the refunds will not go through. We will email you directly regarding alternate payment methods once we've finished with the initial round of refunds.

      It's a shame that the chipset manufacturing is yet to come up with a viable board for Usb-C hub. I was looking forward to having this Hub+

      That is too bad. Like others have mentioned, I would be willing to keep waiting. One or two status updates a month - even just to say "sorry no news" would be better, but either way I'd be willing to keep waiting. Please do what you need to do.

      I have reached out to your team regarding the free gift. I have not heard back from anyone nor have I received it. I don't mind you keeping the money if you guys are actually going to ship however I would like more frequent updates.

      Maybe status update two weeks about the current status of the project.

      This was the very first kick starter project that I had backed and I feel that if you bought it can actually see the light of day. I am sure that some of your contributors may also be very talented engineers and may be able to help solve the complicated issues that you guys are facing.

      I think full refund is not fair for your team. I did not pay for on the shelf product. I paid for an invention that's may fail. I prefer waiting, unless your team want to give up then refund in some portion that's fair enough.
