About this project
Thanks everyone! The Kickstarter is over but you can still order screen prints at the NOMO Design Shop
Golf art is awful. Do a quick internet search and you'll see what I mean.
I want to create a series of prints to celebrate the world's top golf courses but in a simple way that still captures the unique character of each course and is at home in any interior. I'm starting with the hosts of the 2013 Major Championships, Golf Magazine's #1 Course in the World - Pine Valley and one of the top US public-access courses in Pebble Beach.
The Golf Course prints are 24" x 24" 4 color serigraphs on 100# Steel Blue paper from French Paper Co. in Niles, Michigan. Screen printing will be handled by VGKids in Ypsillanti, Michigan. I've worked with them on several projects like my Airport Runway and Racetrack Series prints. They do top-notch work. Your prints will be stamped and signed on the poster back, rolled and shipped in a heavy-duty kraft tube.
If you're of the plan-ahead sort, Father's Day is June 16. Prints will be delivered in time by then. Just saying....
The 2013 Major Championships
Golf Magazine's Top Courses
In addition to the courses of the 2013 Major championships, I'm creating two other prints - Pine Valley, the #1 course in the world and Pebble Beach, an American icon and perennial public favorite.
I'm an architect and designer with 10 years of experience crafting space and experience through architecture, print and web design. In 2010 I started my own design studio NOMO and recently helped launch Sparse - an urban cycling accessory company. We wrapped up a successful Kickstarter campaign last December.
Here's how the target goal breaks down.
PRINTING: As you see, if we reach the Kickstarter goal, the funds will go mainly to printing costs. 7 prints at 4-colors each is 28 screens and a lot of effort.
SHIPPING: 6% of the costs will go to shipping costs. Prints will be rolled, sealed in a 2 mil polyethylene film bag, placed in a .080" thick-walled cardboard tube and shipped via the tender, loving hands of the US Postal Service. For international backers, please note delivery time will vary as your prints travel through US Customs and your local delivery service. In most cases, there is no additional duty fees for prints. In any cases where there is, that is the responsibility of the backer.
CELEBRATION: I also set aside 1% of the funds to go towards the purchase of champagne. I have the absolute best (and most-understanding) wife that continually puts up with my long nights of work. If we make our goal, Nicole and I will go out for a bottle of champagne. Of course, if any backers are in the Chicago area, you are all invited. (Just don't tell her I invited you)

Risks and challenges
Design is complete. Paper is selected and I'll be reviewing inks soon. Screen printer is waiting for the green "funded" light. I've accounted for their printing time. I have a solid system for packing and shipping prints. The main variable is the final number of backers and prints to be delivered. If there are too many orders for me to package and ship myself, I'll hire help.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
