Any updates on the other backer parties? I haven't seen anything on the DC party yet.

Justin, the Chicago party will happen later this year, but no solid plans yet. We're actually on the lookout for a venue--do you have any recommendations? We've run into some issues because it seems like venues are wary of doing sous vide. If you have any ideas, please shoot Patrick@Nomiku.com an email--he's heading up our marketing tour :) Thank you, thank you!

Hi Steve! An update will be released soon. We've recently heard back from Customs and are now just waiting for some final logistics to get sorted out between them and our factory. Stay tuned! Thank you so much for your patience!

I know things are probably in holding waiting for other parties, but any chance we can get an update on the 220V shipping status? Even a "no change, still waiting on customs paperwork" would be good.

Kristian: we are just as frustrated as you and definitely thinking of you when people are getting their Noms. It is not our intention to make you wait, nobody wants to ship to every Kickstarter backer faster than us. Currently we are waiting on CE to connect with China ITS to sync up their results. I'm sorry it's taking a while, we will update you this week on exactly what's happening.

Jonathan thank you, that means a lot to us and we will continue to provide insights!

On each of the Kickstarter projects I back I keep in mind I am a backer, not a customer. I really appreciate the ones that give me insight to the technical challenges, the start-up processes and problems, and the human responses of attention with intention to make it happen. Thank you!

Hi Douglas, hard water will lead to scaling in any machine. We also tested the Nomiku in hard water at R&D stage, and found some mineral buildup on the aluminum heatsink. We recommend using the descaling method described in the manual, but if you live in an area with very high mineral content, please do the following for best results: Neutralize the alkalinity with 1 tbsp citric acid powder per gallon. and then to keep using that water if that's convenient. With this small amount of citric acid powder, minerals should stay dissolved, and the acid doesn't attack bags or anodized aluminum surface. Preventing buildup is a lot easier than cleaning it off. And if you decide to descale the Nomiku, use 1/4 cup citric acid powder per gallon for descaling.

I'm guessing the answer is that you don't know but I'll ask anyway. Do you know what impact hard water might have on the circulator internals?

Got my Nomiku up in Canada. Unfortunately I got hit with a charge also - didn't see that coming. Oddly enough, mine was a few cents more at $58.41 (I'm in Ontario). Here's hoping I get to try it before I move to Europe for 6 months on the 30th. If I get a chance to try it out I'll be sure to let you know!
