Manufacturing Update #36

Posted by Lisa Q. Fetterman (Creator)

Hi backers,

We're glad to tell you that we will hit the goal mentioned in our previous update, shipping to backer 3000 by the end of today. If you are among that range of backers and haven’t yet got an email with shipping info, you should get it by the end of the day today.

We’re excited that our production capacity has increased with our new hires and with the new processes we have put into place production is faster and more efficient than it has been before and should be on the rise from here. At our new speed, it should help us to make up ground toward our September shipping milestone.

While we are happy with this new alacrity, we have had some vendors that have fallen behind in their schedule the last two weeks, which may throw a wrench into production scheduling. We are working closely with them to rectify the issue and we are also pursuing alternate paths as much as possible. We don’t yet know how and if this will affect our shipping milestones, but we don’t expect it to be more than a few weeks. We will have more information regarding this in the next update as we continue to explore alternative solutions.

For our international backers, the certification process is moving forward and we expect it to be completed within 12 weeks. We will keep you updated regarding its progress in the next few updates.

As always, thank you for hanging in there with us and for your patience. If you have questions, please feel free to message us or send a note to

Thank you again and all of our best,

The Nomiku Team

Oh, the app is more of a joke than I thought - because links to the *wrong one* (the com.herokuapp.bse one, instead of the com.nomiku.tender one, which still won't let me pair without yet another pointless web account but at least it *has* a "pair nomiku" menu option, which the other one doesn't.)

@Henrik, you do realize that the international orders require different testing, right? And the total number of orders was pretty small.

In retrospect, they probably shouldn't have offered that, just because it looks like they'll be losing money on people ordering the 230v units.

Well, I received my Nomiku, and it looks to be broken. I've attempted to send an email to your support staff, but I have not received a response. I've attempted to proceed with a factory reset, and now it won't connect to WiFi. Can you please let me know what steps I can proceed with to make sure that my Nomiku is working properly?

Unit 2617 arrived and is cooking away! The app is kind of a joke but the real controls are easy enough to figure out.

Got my shipping info last Friday, I think they are shipping it via pigeons. Estimated delivery is 13 days.

awesome, can't wait to finally receive my nomiku. keep up the good work. i know how hard it is to create something new.

Less than 2 weeks after I received my Nomiku and it's already DEAD! No matter what I do, reset the machine to factory settings, always come back to Error 8 - Low water - And of course there is plenty of water...

Reminder... Still waiting for my refund.

Remember, I am still waiting for my refund.

      WOW! Just wow.

If I know you would totally screw the international backers over, I would not have backed you.

I mean how incredibly stupid or just blatant is it to wait until almost ALL US backers has been shipped to START the certification process that take at least 3 month +1 year (your bad time estimation tax). I can almost accept that you wait with the production until US is done but that I will have my reward 2 year later than originally stated, if I'm lucky...

Too many times I have been screwed when backing hardware projects, so I have stopped. Thanks to people like you (not that you care, you have my money already).

If you only had been honest. But then I would not have backed, so I answered my self there...

I am glad to hear progress is being made. Any idea when the last backers will receive their items? I just noticed I am #5050. Thanks!

    17. Brian on

Nice update, I'm double digits away from 3000 so hopefully it ships soon for those of us just past 3000.

Congrats on hitting the goal. I admire how persistent you guys have been, as well as how open and transparent the communication has been. I got mine and I love it. It's awesome. Seriously: major props on determination. Worth the wait.

    22. Wayne Elgin on

Happy to finally have it on hand. Good luck with the future.

I got mine a week ago and I love it! Thanks guys. I've done pork chops and beef eye of round both awesome. My only issue is I need a deeper container so the evaporating water does not get too low during long cooking times.
