Thank you so much to the hundreds of people from around the world who helped make SightLines a reality!
FIRST REVIEWS JUST CAME IN & REVIEWERS WERE NOT COMPENSATED IN ANY WAY:
"SightLines addresses the issues with eyewear compatibility that headset users like myself have simply accepted as something we'd have to live with. I'm glad that Neal did something about it, and look forward to seeing the production items come out. I'll update this writeup when they do. It's a no-brainer for headset users to upgrade to the SightLines; your head will thank you." - MilitaryMorons review
"The difference was impressive and immediately apparent. [...] Ambient noise was shut off with the Sightlines cups. [...] I don’t have access to advanced decibel measuring equipment. I do have a lot of experience with ear protection. From passive muffs to electronic circuitry provided by Peltor and Bose used in my capacities as an Airborne Ranger turned civilian helicopter pilot I can say this: inexpensive Howard Leight Impact Sport muffs upgraded with Sightlines can hang with the heavyweights." - Loadout Room review by Rex Nanorum
"These cushion replacements from @noisefighters are amazing! Got to run them the other day and I didn’t leave the range with a headache for the first time in forever. I’m not paid or sponsored to say this, I just really like these. This is something I’ve been wishing someone would make since I got my HL’s. They replace the stock cushions and the slick part is they leave a channel for eye-ware. Makes your $65 cans feel like $300 cans. " - Canetuckeecarry on Instagram
"Innovative, functional, and beautiful! SightLines solves the problem I’ve always had when using shooting glasses with earmuffs – the arm of the glasses breaks the seal around the ear, which allows sound in. But now, problem solved. I snapped the SightLines replacement cushions into my earmuffs, and now my glasses and headset fit perfectly together. Brilliant solution to a common problem! This is a much needed upgrade for over-ear muffs and a must-have for ALL shooters!" Members of Coda Evolution LLC
"Significantly more comfortable, less noise and no pressure points with eyewear. Every shooter needs these!" - holtworks on Instagram
"I'm loving these things. [...] I'm very impressed." - Armatis Reviews on YouTube
"We took the earcups out this past weekend to the range and my wife had them on for the entire half day and no headaches. Amazing stuff." - Current law enforcement officer and instructor from California
"Dude. What is on my ears? It's like magical." - gng on Instagram
THIS PRODUCT IS PATENT PENDING
Headsets that use traditional cushions rely on the softness of the ear cushion to conform to the shape of the eyewear stems. However, when eyewear is inserted, even the softest cushions unevenly distribute pressure around the ear, cause hot spots which then lead to headaches, and allow unwanted noise through the broken head seal.
By adding a recessed channel at the top of the cushion for eyewear to slide along, the head seal can remain intact instead of being forced open when eyewear is inserted. SightLines™ is an extremely simple and inexpensive solution. Our headset cushions replace your existing ones and install in seconds.
The only change you'll need to make when wearing a headset with SightLines is to first slide your eyewear above the cushions and then move them down into the recessed upper channel and onto the shelf. The shelf is less than one pinky finger's thickness above the location where glasses normally rest, and it feels completely natural for eyewear to sit at this location. These cushions are fully compatible with prescription eyewear, including multifocal lenses.
Eyewear no longer causes hot spots around the ears. In addition, the unique horseshoe ring design and use of silicone gel and memory foam softens the cushion so much that compression is significantly reduced, pressure is better equalized across a larger surface area, and eyewear won't sit crookedly. It's like wearing pillows on your head. Our cushions are also quite roomy, so ears won't feel cramped. You can wear them all day with or without eyewear, with no change in comfort. You won't ever want to wear normal headset cushions again.
Government testing has shown a 1-10+ decibel decrease in sound deadening when eyewear breaks the head seal on traditional ear cushions. This is a serious safety issue as a 3 dB increase represents a doubling of sound intensity. We believe SightLines solves this completely by keeping the head seal closed when eyewear is inserted correctly.
A broken head seal permits significantly more noise into the headset, and this isn't just a safety issue: it is detrimental to proper monitoring for audio professionals and it's annoying for anyone who wants to keep undesirable noise out when wearing eyewear (like an airline passenger using noise-cancelling headphones or a pilot trying to monitor incoming traffic). Again, we believe SightLines solves this completely by keeping the head seal closed when eyewear is inserted correctly.
SightLines cushions are manufactured with only premium components. They are designed to survive in nearly every environment on earth. As military veterans, we understand that gear dependability is crucial.
Internally, both silicone gel and sound-deadening memory foam provide the ultimate in softness. The silicone gel's flexibility is amazingly similar from -100F to +300F (-70C to 150C). The sound-deadening memory foam meets FAR 25.853 for U.S. aviation use.
Externally, an ultra-thin sheet of rugged polyurethane provides a supple outer skin. The polymer skin is resistant to UV rays, has antifungal properties, and does not absorb moisture and quickly degrade like cheaper materials.
Our product should last for several years of normal use instead of degrading quickly like faux leather or vinyl pads. Be sure to hand wash our cushions with soap and water as necessary.
SightLines are made in the USA by a factory supplier with over 40 years of experience making ear cushions. Based in the heart of America in Canton, Ohio, just near the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Evans Industries, Inc. has proven to be extremely supportive ever since we reached out for their manufacturing expertise early in 2017.
The standard SightLines cushion front profile is 4 in / 102 mm long, 3 in / 77 mm wide, and 0.625 in / 15.875 mm thick. The inner opening is 1.75 in / 44 mm wide and 2.75 in / 70 mm long.
The optional StretchBack mount, outlined in gray in the above image, has an inner opening of 1.95 in / 50 mm wide and 3.00 in / 76 mm long. There are more details below regarding the other mounting options and headset compatibility.
Our Howard Leight® compatible SightLines cushion profile matches the OEM design in all dimensions (including the low-profile 0.5 in / 12.7 mm thickness) and includes a semi-rigid backer that locks the cushion into place like the OEM design.
You must own a compatible headset that can utilize one of the mounts that we offer. If your headset is not listed, it may still be compatible. Please e-mail us at email@example.com so that we can verify it and update this list! We have a full set of headset recommendations by clicking here.

Are you going to give these as a gift? If they're not going to arrive on time, you can click on the image below to download a print-at-home gift certificate that you can present immediately.
This certificate is not proof of purchase. For cushions to arrive, this project will need to be successfully funded and you will need to have purchased the desired reward. Note that no products will ship if this campaign does not meet its funding goal.

Why did you choose to crowdfund on Kickstarter?
We couldn't think of a better platform to get the word out than through a Kickstarter campaign. We just need large orders to bring manufacturing costs down and extra funds to help speed up the production cycle. Your help is sincerely appreciated.
How much testing has been conducted on your cushions?
We began testing in February 2017 using production-quality materials and adjusted the physical design several times to suit our needs. Our first production units were delivered in August of 2017 and we've tested them in rain, the summer heat, and freezing temperatures. We are quite confident they are ready for use everywhere in the world.
What's the soundstage or overall effect on sounds, since I'm going to use these on gaming headsets / headphones / etc?
The polyurethane skin's density is higher compared to leatherette or velour, and the use of silicone gel and premium acoustic / sound-deadening memory foam internally may lead to a difference in soundstage. Sound waves may be reflected at a different rate and the frequency responses may be changed, particularly the perceived bass levels.
"SightLines are compatible with hundreds of different headsets that come equipped with an even larger variety of cushion shapes and materials, and people can also perceive sound extremely differently. I've been wearing polyurethane skin / silicone gel / acoustic foam cushions on my Sony MDR-7506 headset for several months now, and I think the biggest difference from the factory cushions is actually the decrease in ambient noise entering the headset and the resulting effects. I can more easily focus on the music or sounds I'm listening to, and everything I listen to sounds cleaner. I don't notice any large difference in bass response with poly/gel pads on the -7506's." -Neal
How long is the warranty?
If you order during this Kickstarter campaign, you receive a lifetime guarantee for free replacement cushions if your SightLines cushions ever wear out. You'll just need to contact us before returning parts and help pay for shipping (non-U.S. orders). This doesn't cover intentional product abuse. Don't be that guy.
When do you start shipping?
It varies based on the cushions you need. Five hundred pairs of Howard Leight® compatible cushions can ship as soon as we receive funds at the end of the Kickstarter campaign (it typically takes two weeks after the project ends for payment to be received). For all other cushions, we will be ordering production tooling as soon as we finalize the design, and those orders will ship out as soon as our production tooling gets up and running. Our best estimate is no later than March 2018.
Why should I order now?
The biggest benefit is our lifetime guarantee (details above) that we're only offering on Kickstarter. The huge price discount off MSRP is another great reason to support us now. Also, we will process shipments in the order that we receive them, so backers who pre-order first will receive their cushions first (although 500 pairs of Howard Leight® cushions will ship immediately since they have already been made). Finally, we're a veteran-owned company making cool stuff entirely in the U.S.A., and we know that's important to many people.
You're only offering one branded item (gloves)...what about t-shirts / hoodies / mugs / etc?
Two words: mission creep. We're trying not to overextend ourselves. If this project is successful, we'll provide details to backers on ordering Noisefighters-branded shirts and stuff. We'd love to see our cool logo on quality swag and will give backers the first opportunity to sport our designs. However, we really...really...like GI-issued flight gloves, and we think more people should know about them. They're incredibly soft, extremely durable, and protect you quite well, just like SightLines cushions! We think they're the perfect companion product.
How do I order multiple items?
It's not obvious, but you can add to your pledge in order to cover the cost of multiple items if you want, for example, exactly 7 pairs. Please email us so that we can give you a special price for ordering that (strange) amount! Also, after the campaign has concluded, backers will be sent details on ordering any additional items they desire.
What if I have an idea for a reward and it's not listed?
Shoot us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with the idea. Maybe other people were thinking the same thing, and we may be able to offer it to you.
What if I order multiple cushions that ship at different dates?
Your order will not be shipped until we have all items in stock and ready.
Will you be selling SightLines anywhere else before shipping products to backers?
No. We need to be up front about this because other Kickstarter campaign creators have had their reputations damaged by doing this. The only SightLines cushions "in the wild" have already been shipped to professional reviewers, prototype testers, and family members.
What if I change my address after I order?
If you need to update your address, be sure to inform us at email@example.com.
What is your refund policy?
This is a crowdfunding campaign, so your credit card will not be charged if we do not reach our funding goal. After receiving your products, we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. We want you to be happy with your SightLines cushions.
If I have any further questions, who should I contact?

Risks and challenges
Neal: "Jeff and I have professionally collaborated for nearly four years and have released several successful products together. We will only deliver SightLines at an extremely high quality level.
Working with Evans Industries, Inc. over the last ten months has been a pleasure and they have been extremely supportive. The one issue that they have made clear to me is that they are so popular that they can sometimes get backed up with orders from other, larger manufacturers, and that could affect SightLines production timing. I hope that backers can be flexible!
I'll post constant project updates and attempt to answer every question you can throw at me. I've been an entrepreneur since 2011 and understand that customer service is what makes or breaks a small company. Feel free to check out my Reddit post history right here (https://www.reddit.com/user/sintercore) and the completely 5 star reviews (https://www.facebook.com/pg/Sintercore/reviews/) for my other company, Sintercore (http://www.sintercore.com), and see that I'm passionate about engaging with those who are interested in my inventions and doing what's right for the customer.
If this project gets funded, I will be extremely happy. There's nobody in the world who wants to use SightLines cushions more than I do."Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
