What are Conjoynts?
Conjoynts are simply flat wooden shapes that interlock to form an infinite variety of 3D creations. They stimulate creativity and spatial reasoning, can be assembled into an infinite number of forms, and require no explanation to be enjoyed!
Where did this idea come from?
I came up with the idea in my high school engineering class. The school had recently purchased a laser engraver, which inspired me to try and create a more open ended version of those wooden puzzles you see in science museum gift shops. Using AutoDesk Inventor and some scrap plywood, I worked out the tolerances and created the prototype you see in the images below.
So what is the money for?
Primarily, the money will be used to produce a large number of sets and print starter booklets with step-by-step instructions detailing how to build your first creations. The rest of the money will go towards the cost of packaging and mailing the sets to contributors. Any sets left over will be sold in locally owned toy stores and farmer's markets.
