We're both huge craft beer fans. Nick has been home brewing casually for several years despite the fact that a fair assessment would call his output...inconsistent. John hasn't even tried because he knows there is someone out there who can do it better, so why not just buy it. We've found that several in our community of friends and extended network have experienced both problems.
We knew we had something and so we designed the BrewsBy.us marketplace. Our goal in starting BrewsBy.us is to connect beer lovers to the brewing process and their favorite breweries allowing them to participate in developing new beers and really make them their own.
BrewsBy.us is starting to pilot the marketplace in NYC and have several great brewers lined up and ready to produce for our community. We've started off strong with our offline test and have a solid initial consumer group, so we're raising money to finish development of the platform and launch and scale nationally in a big way in 2019.
That platform's operation is simple:
1 - User designs a beer with type, flavor, texture, and other inputs
2 - Community backs the project by pre-committed purchase volume
3 - Brewery picks up project, receives revenue, crafts and cans beer
4 - BrewsBy.us fulfills and delivers through licensed retail partner
Anyone can come up with their perfect brew. Those 6pack votes in the reward section are where the community backs great ideas, you get the 6pack if your project is fulfilled and if it's not, you get to use that credit again on a different beer concept.
We'll release more information on brewery partners once the platform is launched, but they are curated by expert beer tasters (us) for quality and skill at trying new things.
Risks and challenges
We are launching initially in NY state and due to regulatory hurdles we will have to gradually scale nationally. All users who support will have immediate access to the platform once their areas open up, and we expect to be fully national by the end of 2019.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
