Arkham Ritual is a deduction, bluffing, and press your luck type card game about escaping from a horrific ritual worshiping the Great Old One.
If you read nothing else, then here is a 60 second overview of the game.
- You have 1 card in your hand. You don't see your own card, but you see everyone else's card.
- You want to be holding a unique sane (blue) card. You don't want to be holding a cursed (red) card or a same card as another player.
- Players take turns looking at the top card of the deck and passing the card face down to another player.
- Player who receives the card can either discard their card face up and take the new card, or pass the card to another player face down.
- When the round ends, all players reveal their card and determine who survives and who goes insane!
In Arkham Ritual, you don’t see the card you are holding. Instead, you see the cards other players are holding. You must guess the card you are holding by looking at other players’ cards and the cards that have been played.
The game is played over a course of multiple rounds and each round consists of multiple turns. Each turn one player draws the top card of the deck, looks at it, and passes it to another player. The player who receives the card has a choice either to a) discard the card he / she is holding face up and take the new card without looking at it, or b) pass the card to another player without looking at it. After a player takes a turn, another player takes his / her turn.
The round continues until one of the round end condition is met, at which point all players reveal their cards. At this time, if you are holding a cursed (red) card, then the card corrupts your mind and you lose sanity. If you are holding a sane (blue) artifact card but some other player is also holding the same artifact card (regardless of their color), the artifacts create unpleasant resonance and corrupts your mind, losing sanity. You successfully survive the ritual only if you are holding a unique sane (blue) card.
Players lose sanity by discarding sanity markers. The next round is played until one or more players have lost all their sanity markers. All players who still have sanity markers survived the ritual, and the winner is the player with the most sanity markers!

Naomi Laeuchli - Arkham Ritual puts a unique twist on the social deduction genre. It plays quite quickly, and it’s the type of social deduction game that is unlikely to veer into accusations or unpleasantness. It’s light, it’s fast, and it’s engaging, the kind of game you're going to play multiple times in one sitting. There’s a lot of guesswork involved, and social deduction fans who enjoy playing the odds should certainly check it out on Kickstarter.
Dez @ Australian Tabletop Gaming Network - Arkham Ritual is such a great small game that is quick and super easy to learn. I do think Ninja Star Games has nailed the theme for this game. The art is so amazing. The use of the character on a simple mono colour yet highly detailed background is quite stunning. Arkham Ritual is such an enjoyable and smart game. It is quick, easy and well thought out. It has a strong theme, a simple and yet enjoyable mechanic and amazing art. I believe this game is going to be one to watch.
Richard Miles @ Board Game Authority - Arkham Ritual is a lot of fun. The seemingly simple decision of “Do I keep this card, or pass it?” is often supremely difficult. And, through regular player interaction or special cards, even your best plans can be put to ruin. For me, Arkham Ritual checks off a lot of boxes: it is a great social deduction game, it is fairly fast paced, it doesn’t take long to teach/learn, and it’s entertaining, engaging, and keeps you on your toes.
James Davis @ gamegeek.ninja - This is a quick game that can play with higher player counts, which is nice. It also employs a very light Lovecraftian theme without hitting you over the head with it. If that sounds appealing to you at all, you should try it. I mean, where else do you get to join a horrifying Old World ritual where you may or may not make it out alive? Check it out on Kickstarter.
The Cardboard Stacker - I like Arkham Ritual as a small filler party game if you don't mind the little mystery with bluffing. I am giving Arkham Ritual a good rating.
Tantrum House - The fun is trying to figure out what is happening and the fun you have with your friends. If you want a game that is light to get the party started for a game night, then check out Arkham Ritual on Kickstarter!
Unfiltered Gamer - Theme of the game is spectacular. I suggest you look at the Kickstarter. This is THE game if you like social deduction, deception, and lieing to your friends. If you're interested in games like resistance, dark moon, or betrayal at the house on the hill, this game is going to be right up your ally.
The Kwarenteen - We loved the game. The game is outstanding! It isn't super strategic game, brain burning game. But the game is super entertaining. It is incredibly fun. I highly, highly recommend it.
Forensic Gameology - There is so much strategy, but it is super subtle and intricate. The fun comes from the cool mechanic of not seeing the card in your hand. There is a lot of tension in this game!
Everybody hates shipping cost, and so do we. We've thought through this and we found a very reasonable way to ship the game to you, no matter where you are in the world. We are excited to offer this amazing shipping costs: FREE, $1, or $2.
- Zone 1 Free Shipping: USA
- Zone 2 $1 Shipping: European Union, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea
- Zone 3 $2 Shipping: Rest of the World
How is this possible?
The game is very light and the box is very sturdy. This allows us to ship the game bubble wrapped inside a bubble mailer. All games outside of the US will be shipped directly from our fulfillment partner in China. This means quick shipment no matter where you live!
Will I be charged VAT / GST / Customs duty?
While we cannot guarantee you that you will not be charged a VAT / GST / Customs duty, the most strict threshold for VAT / GST we found is $10. For most countries in EU, the threshold is around $22. Our invoice price for the game is way lower than that since we are covering part of the shipping. So we cannot guarantee that you won't be hit with VAT / GST / Customs duty, but we are pretty sure you will be fine.
NEW - Card Stand
Many backers have asked about a set of card stands to be included in the game. We will offer it as an add-on for only $1 including shipping. This is for a set of 7 card stands packaged separately from the game, but will be shipped along with your game. You may order multiple sets if you wish for $1 each.
The Majority Complete Edition
The Majority Complete Edition has 2 games in 1 box: The Majority and The Majority 2.
The Majority is a 3 to 4 player card drafting game where your goal is to form strong political factions. In this game, being the second strongest in each of the factions yields more money than being the strongest! How will you manage your factions to earn the most money!?
The Majority 2 is a 2 player only card drafting game. Similar to The Majority, your goal is to create a strong political faction by playing various characters of the underworld from your hand. In this game, your hand is shared with your opponent, meaning you can out smart your opponent by playing the cards he/she is trying to play!

Wolf & Hound
Wolf & Hound is a 2 versus 2 partnership game about saving your flock of sheep from hungry wolves. Players will play 1 card from their hand each turn, and this card causes the Wolf or the Hound move around the board. Where the Wolf or the Hound is on the board is important. At the start of your turn, if there is a Wolf in front of your pasture, then the Wolf chases away one of your Sheep! Rest assured though, if you manage to have a Hound in front of your pasture at the start of your turn, then the Hound will go rescue your Sheep. Cooperate with your partner to save your Sheep and chase away your opponents' Sheep!

Ninja Star Games have delivered 2 successful games, The Majority Complete Edition and Wolf & Hound. However, we are still a very small company so our cash is tied up. We need your support in bringing Arkham Ritual, especially at the very low price point we are offering.
This game was released in Japan as "John Smith's Coffin" to a very limited audience. It was very well received and we strongly believe that this is an excellent game that needs to be played by gamers worldwide. We have repackaged the game as "Arkham Ritual" and releasing it to international audiences through Kickstarter. We need your help in raising the fund necessary to publish and market the game!
We are estimating that it will cost us about $5,000 total to manufacture this game and ship them to you. We have invested about $1,000 plus our time at no cost into the project already. We need the other $4,000 from you to bring this game to life!
Ninja Star Games is a proud member of Indie Game Alliance.
We are proud to be a part of Kicking it Forward.
Risks and challenges
This is our third Kickstarter with 2 successfully delivered games behind our back. There is no real said risk if we meet our funding goal. The game has been designed, developed, and released already in Japan, though in very limited quantity.
Anyone missing anything from our previous projects, please message us here on Kickstarter so that we can get you a replacement sent out. We've had hundreds of backers from all over the world so it is possible that some of you fell through the crack.
The game will be manufactured in China, so there will be the usual risks in ocean freight delay, customs delay, shipping delay, and such that will be outside our control. This is why we have a conservative estimated delivery date.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
