About this project
About this project
WHO DO I THINK I AM? is a documentary that looks at the craft and challenges of mounting a one-person show. Be it stand-up or storytelling, on stage or screen, there are unique circumstances that face a performer working alone to entertain an audience. We will follow character actor Tom Lenk (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Transformers, Broadway’s Rock of Ages) to Edinburgh, Scotland where he will be performing his show “NERDGASM” at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival on August 12th for more than 300 people. Along the way we will document his experience performing at events prior to his appearance in Scotland. We will also interview successful and recognizable performers who have mounted their own one-person shows over the years. Did we mention this will be a documentary that will not make you depressed? It will in fact be funny and potentially uplifting? How's that for a change?!
Where the funds will go
The funds raised will go toward airfare, lodging, transportation, promotional materials, and hiring some local crew to help shoot the performance at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We’re talking the cheapest coach-class flights we can find and hostel living. This is art, people. We’re sacrificing.
While we are aiming to raise $15,000 to fund the production phase of this project, know that any amount above and beyond the base amount will be put to good use throughout post production. We are certainly capable of editing and finishing the film on our own without additional funds, but if we are fortunate enough to exceed our goal, we will hire an editor, composer, sound mixer, and colorist to help us finish the film. Plus you still get one of those awesome rewards over there!

Tom and Andrew’s Award-Winning Short Film, HELLO CALLER:
Thanks to the incredible support of our backers, we were able to meet our goal in just 10 days! Our heads are still spinning (but not like that scene in The Exorcist...) -- that said, $15,000 is enough to make the movie through production, but additional support will allow us to do things like potentially bring a director of photography with us to help make it look as good as possible, and bring on an editor to shape the story from what is certain to be dozens of hours of footage. It'll help us get the project done faster by enlisting the talents of a few other folks, which means everyone gets to see the finished film faster.
PLUS - we still have those awesome rewards over on the right! They'll be available through the whole campaign!
Anywhere between 5 and 16 cords.
Everyone at the $35 level and higher will get a signed DVD as part of their reward (unless you specifically request a NON-SIGNED dvd... which will probably hurt Tom's feelings... but has the benefit of staving off the carpal tunnel...)
Ask your mother.
What if I want to pledge a higher amount, but choose a lesser reward? Or pledge more and combine lesser rewards?
Not a problem! We're thrilled to have your support. If you want to help us out and pledge more than a particular reward level, you have the option to choose any reward from the level you pledge or below upon confirmation. And if you wish to combine rewards at lower levels, just send us a message so we know to make a note when it comes time to deliver.
Sigh. Yes... we know... and it won't let us change it. We launched the campaign at 1:30am, so let's blame a lack of sleep, shall we? :)
