Bugged link on the front page

On the front page of kickstarter, we had a link to download the build of the game. It had this URL written:

but it was leading to an older, obsolete build we had sent to Indiecade a few months ago. We're terribly sorry about the inconvenience, it should be fixed now. So to know if you have the right build, the file should not have any mention of indiecade in its name. It should be called GODF_Wingmen_Alpha_Preview

We realize we've had tons of people by now who must have downloaded that very sucky version of the game instead of the right one, and must have had issues even connecting. If you know anyone to whom it happened, please let them know they can download a functional version now.

New video about the artistic direction, the plan for the last push

We've been asked very often about the artistic direction of the game, so Étienne made a short video explaining a little more the different sources of inspiration and showcasing some concept arts he made to help shape the mood of our universe.

Also, we've been getting more and more players join in on our alpha! It's so fun to meet up with you all and receive feedback (and occasional bug reports, which also help us a great deal). We're still available from 1:00PM to 2:30PM and from 8:00PM to 10:00PM (EST) every day until the end of kickstarter to play with. Don't hesitate to start new games and we'll join in the lobby if we aren't already in a game.

The hour-per-hour counter started

Successfully increasing the amount of stress regarding this campaign, the counter now displays hours instead of days. We almost have 650 backers now, which is really great. I think that if all of you did a facebook share, a tweet and/or upvoted/commented on our posts on reddit, we'd have quite a strong presence and would make it much more likely to get picked up by the gaming community. So if you want to help us out, here's the plan:


Once we hit the 48 hours bar, we'll start a massive push on social media. We'll post on the subreddit /r/IndieGaming. We'll start tweeting about it and we'll retweet every mention with the #SaveGoDFactory hashtag. We will share the Kickstarter campaign on Facebook from our FB page and we'll encourage all of you to do the same, and tell your friends to do it as well please! Who knows, maybe if we're all timed, all pushing at the same time, we'll be able to create a wave. After all, it costs nothing and could potentially change everything, and on an internet scale, 40k is a very small sum.

Tips for newcomers!

Now that we have a build of the game available for everyone, the biggest challenge is to have enough players online at the same time to populate the matches. We really suggest that you wait until you have at least 6 players in the lobby before starting the match. I know that it's not fun to have to wait for more players, but you'll see a huge difference. Bring as many of your friends as you can, this will have an enormous impact on our community.


A few things of notes to help you enjoy the game more:

- Keep in mind that the objective of the game is to destroy the enemy's carrier. If you focus on dogfighting too much, you'll get a few kills but not the victory!

- Use "V" on the keyboard for communication macros. Using these will help you coordinate with your teammates.

- Use the minimap on the bottom left to know where are your allies and where's the action at

- Head back to your dock often to restock on ammunition and switch ships to recharge the shield of the one you just used over time.

- GoD Factory is extremely skill-based, so try to balance the teams. If you have a player that never tried the game before, try to team him up with more experienced players

- If you can't fire a weapon, maybe it requires that you lock-on to a target prior to firing

- Turrets are dangerous, especially up-close. Take them down, use decoys to take damage for you, use the sabotage turret ability, use long range weapons or highly resilient ships when attacking carriers directly or destroy the Main Deck to lower their efficiency

- You can customize your ships while in a lobby waiting for more players. You get something to do while you wait for the match to fill up, and you can even use this as an opportunity to make a ship that is highly compatible with your teammates.


As we said, there are quite a few bugs in the game. Add everything we forgot to mention in the comments!

- Make sure that if you're using something else than mouse and keyboard, the "Mousestick" option must be unchecked in the options

- Different settings in tutorial and in real matches

- Crashes and disconnects (nothing can really prevent this aside from having a really good internet connection)

- Many scripting errors in the tutorial. Many many things can go wrong in the tutorial, but please try and get through it, it will still help you in the long run.

Play with us!

Whenever you see a name in blue in the lobby, you're playing with a developer! Use this as an opportunity to ask questions. We will be making ourselves available at various hours of the day. We'll do what we can to join as often as possible. We will also make ourselves available to play at these hours every day for the rest of the Kickstarter (in EST timezone):

1:00PM to 2:30PM

8:00PM to 10:00PM


We now have a barebones forum for people who want to discuss all things related to GoD Factory or Nine Dots.

This is an excellent tool if you want to schedule some matches and find players to team up with. You can start forming clans as well or have a tournament!

Tactics in GoD Factory: Wingmen

We have a new video showing the kind of different tactics you can have in the game. The first one focus on how to use abilities to lure enemies away from your target.

We'll have more videos coming soon.


You have full permission to stream any content you capture during your matches in GoD Factory. We need to get the word out and we don't have as much reach as you guys do. Let your followers know that this game exists and that they can play it right now if they want.

Tick-tock-tick-tock... We're getting closer to the end of the kickstarter. It's super stressful but there is no point in giving up. With all the work we've put into this campaign, it would make no sense to stop during the last few days. Besides, we have a new Ace up our sleeve...


So, we've been working pretty hard to have a version of the game that we could openly distribute to everyone to show them that yes, GoD Factory is worth backing. It's even working with Oculus Rift, if you happen to have access to a devkit. Just press 7 on the num pad to activate Oculus mode, and 5 to recenter if the camera becomes offset (this happens every now and then and we are investigating a solution for this).

Please note, however, that you *will* encounter bugs, there's plenty of work left to do on our side, but at least you'll get a precise idea of where we are at. Note that it's also possible that some won't be able to join, we have very limited server space and we haven't tested the compatibility for a lot of PC and peripheral setups.

Also note that this build is available to anyone, but it will stay active only for a month and will not be updated. After that, only the backers who paid for beta access will receive build updates and access to our servers.

Greenlight Supershow + HATS!!

Saturday was the Greenlight Supershow, a Twitch marathon from 11Am to midnight showcasing plenty of indie games currently trying to get noticed on Greenlight. We were there at 5:30PM, here's the link:

By the end of the show, people were joking about adding hats as DLC to the game... until I decided that yes, we'd have a hat DLC for every kickstarter backer :-P

Reaching out to LPers

We've been reaching out to many LetsPlayers on youtube and streamers on twitch, including all those you suggested in the comments. We'll keep at it and keep on insisting until something actually comes up (or until we meet the deadline).

We are not giving up, and neither should you. I know it's not very convincing right now, but we're talking about 44,000. Much bigger amounts have been raised in smaller time frames. Keep making noise, keep telling your friends, keep sharing. Tell them that we need it *right now*. Besides, there is nothing to lose for backers: if we don'T meet our objective, not a cent will be spent.
