About

Here is very informative and eye opening video by Dr. Rebecca Bevans. She gave TedTalk last year and here she explains in great detail the hazards of artificial dyes. This is one of the reasons I want to open Nina's Organic Cupcakes nationwide -  where all the foods are colored with organic superfoods not hazardous chemicals. The public needs Nina' Organic Cupcakes, access to quality, healthier cupcakes and "education on the side".

People love the idea of fun foods that are made from ingredients that won’t jeopardize their health. One problem: very few companies exist that specifically prepare tasty snack foods such as cupcakes in a healthier fashion. To the contrary, these kinds of foods are almost always loaded with harmful chemicals, which many people don’t even realize they’re ingesting! My 13-year old daughter Nina Warda, is determined to educate consumers about the dangers they face and raise public awareness of these issues with the launch of Nina’s Organic Cupcakes. This exciting business venture represents a new way of thinking about, presenting, and merchandising food.

She has been involved with the growing, worldwide movement of eating healthier for a long time. Formally trained as a Nutrition Coach and Raw and Plant-based Chef, Nina has developed a concept centered around cupcakes that are colorful and delicious, yet never use the artificial dyes, colorants and GMOs that pose such a public health hazard these days.

The new company will benefit from a near-certain tidal wave of positive media exposure and publicity, which, in fact has already begun. The idea that an adolescent is trying to not merely sell cupcakes, but to educate people about healthier eating is very appealing. This is a socially conscientious business model with significant franchising possibilities.

Nina already has a good deal of experience with videos (see below), where she demonstrates how she got the idea for her company and also explains the dangers of the many toxins that are now so prevalent in the food that we eat.

The goal we are currently pursuing involves funding for the establishment of an inaugural physical location, and a concerted PR effort to attract investors to the franchising model. The concept is unique in that it combines an educational component along with offering a menu of snack and celebration food items very different from what’s currently available on the market. It is designed to fit a marketing niche that is currently unfilled, but likely to greatly expand amongst multiple demographics in coming years. The company is poised for strong growth once the initial capital is raised, and even more so as the basic premise is rapidly embraced nationwide.

Finally, it should also be kept in mind that this project will not only benefit Nina, but all of us, in many ways, including but certainly not limited to access to healthier cupcakes, organic superfood lattes and smoothies. Even more importantly, however, by shining a bright spotlight on food hazards, consumers will be far more careful when it comes to avoiding artificial dyes, additives, organic vs conventional vs GMO’s...in other words, knowledge is power, and this is one company that will always make educating and informing customers a key part of its core mission and purpose.

Risks and challenges

The primary challenge is lack of money to create the proof of concept. We realize, of course, this is the classic “Catch-22” of all new enterprises. However, once the money is available we will be able to open our first proof of concept. i.e., our initial physical location. Funding is necessary to make this inaugural shop a reality, furnish it, get the proper equipment, packaging, etc., and to hire qualified professionals - baker, barista, and others. The start-up costs can multiply quickly, and there always needs to be a certain financial cushion, or safety net, in place so that unforeseen circumstances and glitches in planning (inevitable with even the best of plans) don’t derail the entire project. Staving off such a scenario presents a major challenge as well.

Thankfully, in addition to the funding, we are well qualified to meet these challenges. As a dynamic family of four, all certified Nutrition Coaches, along with other with other highly relevant credentials and experiences, we bring to the table the knowledge, dedication to our goals, and energy to achieve success. Moreover, the cupcake recipes are ready, a Learning Platform with step-by step videos how to make each cupcake, each superfood latte and each superfood smoothie will be completed, along with packages of individual recipes sold as a gift card as well as an entire course (24 recipe video total-8 cupcakes, 8 lattes and 8 smoothies) with health benefits explained. We will also publish books/cookbooks, in both print and ebook formats.

The intended outcomes from this initial launch: it will garner media attention, lead to the opening of multiple locations nationwide, and quickly gain a reputation as a fun product to buy, a “cool” place to visit and somewhere that offers customers an enjoyable time along with some “food for thought.” The main challenge related to funding is an initial financial hurdle that, while substantial, is far from insurmountable and, in fact, one that will not pose a problem for long once the business is up and running.
