We are raising funds for the Third Annual NILA Writers Cider Toast, to be held August 3 & 4, 2019 at the Captain Whidbey Inn on Whidbey Island.
The Cider Toast is a unique experience for writers. It's part reunion, a chance for students, graduates, and instructors of the Northwest Institute for Literary Arts to reconnect, share, and enjoy each others' company. It's also part conference, with panels and speakers, focused on education and growth, because we writers know that there is always more to learn.
The first two Cider Toasts were wildly successful. Thanks to funds from the alumni association and the generosity of speakers who donated their time, we were able to host both events free of charge.
This year, we want to go further.
- We want to host it again at the Captain Whidbey Inn, home to so many fond memories.
- We want to expand from a single afternoon to a two-day event.
- We want to provide a stipend to our speakers, so we can schedule the best presenters available.
- And we want it to be free of charge and open to all.
Sound impossible? You're right. It is.
The Captain Whidbey Inn is under new management. They're renovating and raising their prices. Our alumni association is no more and the funds we relied on are gone.
We can't do this without you. But with you, we can make this the greatest Cider Toast yet.
Please take a look at the rewards. We had a blast coming up with them.
And please be there.
Risks and challenges
We're getting to know the new folks at the Captain Whidbey Inn, and since we hope to reach out to potential speakers with funding secured, our schedule of presentations is yet to be determined.
Anything can happen. But we've seen the resolve, creativity, and energy of this community of writers, and we believe that with your support, this Cider Toast will be an amazing success.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
