Hello!
I first discovered Dreamkeepers by complete accident in 2011. At the time, I was trawling through the internet, looking for inspiring stories and concept art to fuel some musical creativity. I found the first two volumes online and was immediately hooked. I emailed Dave and Liz and sent them some very basic musical sketches, and the rest is history.
The musical tapestry of Dreamkeepers has been evolving since then. I wrote a conceptual album for Volumes 1-4, which was eventually released in 2015. Volume 5 is currently underway.
Why the Kickstarter:
Simply put, I have hit the limit of what can be done with a computer and a handful of live musicians. Dreamkeepers is a lush, epic saga deserving of a full, true orchestral score. I want to realize that idea in the most fun, epic way possible - with a professionally produced orchestral soundtrack.
Planned recording is to take place in Budapest (assuming we hit the proper stretch goal - those can be seen below and in the project video). Shortly after, the project will be mixed and delivered.
Rewards run the gamut from basic digital downloads and CDs to score books, session visits, and full-scale orchestra commissions - see the reward tiers in the side bar for more details!
Goals:

Planned Production Schedule:
It's important to note here that timing is dependent on available session dates with the orchestra; however, the general schedule looks something like this:
October - Mid November: Complete the writing, orchestration, and copying (basically, all of the prep work needed for a successful session).
Mid November - Early December: Recording session(s) take place and the album is mixed.
December - January: Majority of backer rewards are fulfilled and shipped.
January - March: Outstanding commissions are filled. I've made the decision to push commissions behind the release of the album for several reasons: first, to ensure quality (I refuse to rush anyone's commission and deliver anything other than top tier quality), and second, to give myself enough time to actually write and communicate effectively with each of the commissioners. I want complete transparency on my end, and waiting until the big project is taken off my plate will definitely help in that regard!
What's going to be on the album/how long is it?
So far, it looks like the album will be 17 tracks and approximately 35-40 minutes.
Where is my money going?
Here's a rough breakdown of the budget should the campaign reach the 3rd stretch goal:

What is Dreamkeepers?
Dreamkeepers is an ongoing graphic novel series created by David and Liz Lillie. It can be read for free here: http://www.dreamkeeperscomic.com/

Who am I?
I'm an LA-based composer with more than a decade of experience producing orchestral music and recording sessions. This will be far from my first big project!
Risks and challenges
Most of the challenges of this project hinge around timing (namely, available session slots with the orchestra). I chose January 2019 as the delivery date for most tiers - I believe I will actually deliver earlier, but I wanted to give myself some extra space. I don't want to deliver anything late!
As far as commission tiers go, the higher levels will have priority since they need to be included on the orchestra session. The remaining commissions will be written and completed after recording the soundtrack and delivered throughout the first 3-4 months of 2019.
