This is the front of my hardbound 48 page book, Night Skies, featuring my painting "Pegasus Rising." 44 of my paintings are featured. Living in Central Oregon is a bit like living in a planetarium. Our night skies are as much a part of our experience as the mountains, rivers, lakes and trails we enjoy. The night sky offers us a place of wonder, mystery and beauty. It is also a place of science and myths. I refer to some of the Greek myths in my constellation paintings. This is something of a legacy project for me as some images go back 30 years. Probably half of them were done in the past year in gouache paint on watercolor paper.

- I am seeking supporters for my book project Night Skies. This hardbound 8 1/2" by 11" 48-page book features 44 of my night sky paintings with accompanying text.

For those of us who live in Central Oregon, we are offered a free show throughout the year of our starry nights. I think that the simple act of looking up regularly at the stars and learning a bit about their mythology and positions is a healthy activity for the soul. We were connected with the stars for so many thousands of years; to re-connect brings that wonder, mystery and beauty back into our psyche, feeding a deep part of what it means to be human.
Risks and challenges
The work is all done for this project EXCEPT for the funding part. This is where i need your help by pre-ordering the book through Kickstarter. I believe in this project's worth, not only because it features my art but because I think it's simply a healthy thing to encourage people to study the stars. I would like to make a book tour to bookstores throughout Oregon. Besides the book, I have written a short play and a series of original songs to perform. Each time a book reading is done could be quite a fun event!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
