Ladies and Gentlemen! Friends of the Kitchen! We've got a new show called The Imbolc Blues, playing 27-30th Jan and 3-6th Feb 2011 at Clerkenwell Theatre, London, and we would like your help to pay our fantastic cast and crew. We have some great rewards and events for our pledgers, and alternative gifts for our international friends!
The Night Kitchen Cabaret is a cult London theatre series that has been growing in popularity since its debut in 2007. Each episode is set in a liminal east end kitchen where Ruby, a Dickensian MC, runs a cabaret show from her kitchen table. Things rarely go according to plan and Ruby often has to call on her family of delinquent street urchins, singing pirates, dancing private-eyes, and dead juggling great uncles to help her deal with the goings on at the Night Kitchen. Each episode is a surreal and compelling tale featuring outstanding performers from the worlds of theatre, circus, music and dance.
In The Imbolc Blues, Ruby meets her greatest challenge yet when a deadly virus hits the Night Kitchen. It's Imbolc, the turning point from winter to spring, but spring doesn’t seem to be springing. The ground’s too hard to bury Bun’s toe, Zircon’s sheep won’t give milk and the Great Eastern glacier is rumbling towards the Night Kitchen. It's a nasty case of the Imbolc Blues and Ruby's got her work cut out to find a cure.
The Imbolc Blues will run for an initial eight performances in Clerkenwell Theatre, an unusual and atmospheric theatre venue in the heart of London. For this show the company will consist of eleven performers from various performance disciplines and a creative team of eight that includes a musical director, fight director and puppet maker.
We aim to raise $8000 (that's £5100 in Great British Pounds) so that we can pay the artists involved. By making a pledge towards the show, of anything from $1 upwards, you will be making the next show happen. We would like to thank you for your generosity by offering you some Night Kitchen Cabaret memorabilia and events - look to the right to see the delights! Any pledge, large or small, will make a huge difference. Our UK and other non- US pals may notice that the pledge levels and target are in US dollars but UK and other international cards are accepted. Mavis's stockbroker niece, Enid-The Money-Jones, has done conversions from dollars to pounds for the various pledge levels so you can see how things correspond.
For more info on making a pledge and on how it all works just go to the green button to the right of the video - 'back this project or simply learn more'.
We hope you like the sound of the show and would like to get involved.
With many thanks and best wishes,
Roses, Gwyn and Alex
