"Cops and Monsters" is an on-going supernatural police thriller, set in a near-future Scotland. When vampires, werewolves and zombies are forced to come out of hiding, a peace treaty is formed by the Scottish government and the Paranormal Investigation Team Scotland (PITS) are put into place to police and protect the supernatural community.
We've managed to hit our initial target of £1500, which means we can now pay our 6 writers, our visual effect animator, composer and graphic artist for our pre-production campaign.
With some time left on our campaign, we've added the following stretch goals to help us now shoot and edit the 6 new episodes. So please keep pledging, sharing the link and getting involved! The more we raise, the more likely it is we'll be able to shoot series 2 this year!
- Stretch Goal 1: If we raise £6000 we can shoot episode 1 of the new series.
- Stretch Goal 2: If we raise £11,500 we can shoot episodes 1 and 2
- Stretch Goal 3: If we raise £16,500 we can shoot episodes 1, 2 and 3!
- Stretch Goal 4: If we raise £21,500 then we can shoot episodes 1-4
- Stretch Goal 5: If we raise £26,500 then we can shoot episodes 1-5
- Stretch Goal 6: If we raise £31,500 then we can shoot all 6 episodes.

In 2017 we successfully produced volume 1 of the series, creating 8 episodes for £15,000 which we raised via Kickstarter and Indiegogo. The first volume starred a mix of upcoming actors alongside guest stars such as Leona Kate Vaughan (Wolfblood, Stella), James Payton (Harry Potter), Rachel Teate (Wolfblood), James Mackenzie (Raven), Sophie Aldred (Doctor Who), Caitlin Blackwood (Doctor Who) and Katrina Bryan (Nina and the Neurons). The episodes were written by a mix of upcoming writers and established television writers such as Roland Moore and Laura A Anderson.
Volume 1 has been picked up by Amazon Prime UK and Amazon Prime US. Volume 2 will also be exclusively available to stream from Amazon Prime. As of October 31st we have had over 13,000 views on Amazon for series 1.
We are running this small crowdfunding campaign in order to raise £1500 so we can commission writers to pen our new series, which will be made up of 6 x 20 minute episodes.
James T Harding, Laura A Anderson (Ooglies) and Fraser Coull will be returning to pen new episodes for series 2. "Wolfblood" creator and writer Debbie Moon has also agreed to pen our opening episode of series 1. Joining Debbie will be Philip Lawrence (Big Finish's Doctor Who) and Simon Underwood (Wolfblood).
This fund will also allow us to commission visual effects animator Shervin Shirazian to create BRAND NEW opening and closing titles. Here is the concept titles that Shervin has created for series 2:
The music and cast list in the concept opening titles are not final. Robert Newth will score us new music for them if hit our campaign goals.
And finally this campaign also allows us to commission a graphic designer to come up with concept art, a poster and banner for our 2nd series, "Cops and Monsters: Uprising".
Once the scripts are completed, we will then be moving onto the next stage of production: funding the episodes. For volume 1 we had to raise the funds for each individual episode, prolonging the process to complete the show. For volume 2 we will be applying for local funds and grants, as well as seeking sponsorship from local businesses in return for product placement, their website branding included on our official website and their business name on the end titles of our episodes. We will also be offering members of the public to get involved by sponsoring us in return for various producer credits on IMDb, walk-on roles etc, directly from our website.
Only as an absolutely last resort will we turn to crowdfunding to raise the funds needed to shoot our 6 episodes.
Volume 1 is now exclusively available on Amazon Prime. However during this Kickstarter campaign we are making the complete series available to watch for free below:
Billy Kirkwood (Insane Championship Wrestling) works on a scene with Sophie Aldred (Doctor Who) Billy Kirkwood (Insane Championship Wrestling) works on a scene with Sophie Aldred (Doctor Who)
Scotland television is absent of anything like Cops and Monsters. The only sci-fi/supernatural show we have is Doctor Who, and that's made in Wales! We'd like to make our mark and join the ranks of Being Human, In the Flesh, The Fades, Primeval, Torchwood and beyond, and create an exciting, dangerous world of vampires, werewolves and zombies.
Having raised the funds to shoot 8 episodes for volume 1, our growing fanbase on Facebook and Twitter we know there is an appetite for a show like this, and so far we've had glowing reviews on Amazon Prime.
Not only does making a show like this allow you, the viewer, a chance to watch a brand new supernatural police thriller, but it allows us to make it for you. All of our actors, writers and crew who will be hired to work on the show will be a direct result of YOUR support.
When we held an open call for writers around the world to submit their scripts for series 2, we received over 350, with the majority of the writers applying because they were looking for an opportunity to work on the genre of this show.
We're also making it to prove that it can be done and that people will watch it. Hopefully catching the eye of producers, commissioners, and other important TV people out there, maybe leading to the show being re-booted with a proper television budget, or more work for the team who work so hard on the show.
As this campaign is set up in order for us to commission the writers, we don't have many perks for Volume 2! What we can offer are perks from our campaign from Volume 1!
- A signed script from volume 1
- A copy of a volume 2 script, signed by the writer!
- Volume 1 on DVD or blu-ray with special features
- A3 posters which include our original design by Stuart Manning or our "The Cult and Alexis" poster.
- Personalised PITS badges. Your name, your face, assigned to an area of the Paranormal Investigation Team Scotland
- An official Cops and Monsters keyring
- A digital copy of the Cops and Monsters Volume 1 Soundtrack
- Your name (or your loved one's!) in an episode script for volume 2. We'll name a character AFTER you or your loved one.
- An IMDB producer credit on Volume 1

If this campaign is successful, it will allow us to commission writers to produce the 6 x 20 minute scripts for "Uprising", and from there seek funding/sponsorship/grants to shoot those episodes. Our goal is to shoot them sometime in 2018, however production (especially on this scale) can be temperamental and the shoot dates could be delayed. We can only produce series 2 with the appropriate funding in order to pay for: cast, crew, locations, equipment, makeup, music, sound design, visual effects, editing and post-production.
This campaign is the starting point to help us make Volume 2 a reality, and with your help, we can get there.
You can share the link to this campaign on your social media accounts, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, whatever you can think of! Tell your family, your friends, anybody who will listen, about our show. Get them watching it on Amazon Prime and then get them here to see if they want any of our perks to make it happen.
No money is taken from your account until AFTER the campaign ends and ONLY if we hit our goal.
Risks and challenges
If we don't hit our funding goal, we'll be unable to commission our 6 writers, and this will put a hold on the project.
We will of course look into further sources of funding, but this would be a brilliant start for us as it means we will have 6 full scripts ready to go, to showcase just how brilliant volume 2 could be.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
