Welcome to the Cops and Monsters: Series 2 Episode 1 Kickstarter Campaign! This campaign has been created so we can raise at least £3890 to allow us to shoot the brand new episode of Cops and Monsters: Uprising!
Episode 1, "Remembrance" is written by BAFTA winning Wolfblood creator Debbie Moon.
We hope we can not only raise the £3,890 to shoot episode 1, but also get as close as possible to £25,000 so we can shoot all 6 x 20 minute episodes.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our campaign and we hope you enjoy what you see and will consider backing our indie webseries.
Thanks to you brilliant people we've now hit our crowdfunding goal! This means we can film for TWO days and bring Debbie's episode to life. Ultimately we need £25,000 to shoot ALL 6 episodes of Cops and Monsters: Uprising, and the close we get to that goal with THIS campaign, the less crowdfunding we need to do.
It'll also allow us to book our cast and crew in advance, allowing us to film quicker and get the series out on to Amazon Prime even sooner! So please keep pledging if you can (as it will help us be unaffected by Kickstarter fees!) and sharing the link. We've got until July 9th to raise funds on this campaign.
STRETCH GOAL 1: £5300 - if we reach this goal we'll be afforded a 3rd day of filming where we can film scenes for one location (i.e the SPIDERS HQ, Alexis' Hideout) through all 6 episodes in one day.
All backers will receive a digital copy of our character artwork for the upcoming series.
STRETCH GOAL 2: £8200 - reaching this goal will allow us to film one of our brand new episodes in full.
All backers will receive the above and a signed A3 series 2 poster from cast and crew.
STRETCH GOAL 3: £12,225 - reaching this goal will allow us to film a 3rd episode of our planned 6.
All backers will receive the above and signed scripts from 3 series 2 episodes.
STRETCH GOAL 4: £16,300 - reaching this goal will allow us to film a 4th episode of our planned 6.
All backers will receive the above plus a digital Cops and Monsters spin-off comic strip.
STRETCH GOAL 5: £20,375 - if we reach this stretch goal we'll be able to film a 5th episode of our planned 6.
All backers will receive the above plus a personalised signed cast photo from series 2.
STRETCH GOAL 6: £25,000 - If we get this far, we can film ALL 6 episodes of series two!
All backers will receive the above and a special invite to our cast and crew screening - date and time TBC, travel and accommodation not included.
"Cops and Monsters" is an on-going, award winning supernatural police thriller set in a near-future Scotland. When vampires, werewolves and zombies come out of hiding, the country breaks out into war and riots with both sides fighting for control. Eventually the First Minister and the heads of the vampire and werewolf societies meet and form a treaty that will allow humans and supernaturals to co-exist. As such a police team, the Paranormal Investigation Team Scotland, are put into place to police and protect both sides.
Series 2 will see Maya Hedges infiltrating the S.P.I.D.E.R.S, a militant police force now in charge of the supernatural community, and try to bring down Jonathan Clark, the Minister of Justice who is plotting to exterminate all supernatural life.
Last year the first series of the show was picked up by Amazon Prime and can now be watched there.
The show has been screened at numerous festivals around the world and we have won a couple of awards, including Best Web Series at the Los Angeles Film Festival.
If we successfully reach the goal set on this campaign, we will be able to produce episode 1 of series 2. Written by BAFTA winner and Wolfblood creator, Debbie Moon, "Remembrance". The episode will see former PITS agent Maya Hedges (Ellen Patterson) teamed up with a brand new S.P.I.D.E.R.S soldier, tasked with investigating a zombie attack in the human district. When they arrive ready to "tag and bag" the zombie, they are shocked to discover that the zombie is a lot more aware and less-bitey than the rest, and in fact still living with his human wife, Heather.
Debbie had this to say when we asked her how she felt about joining Cops and Monsters series 2:
“British sci-fi and fantasy is among the most imaginative and exciting in the world – yet we make very little original fantasy for the small screen. That’s why shows like Cops and Monsters are so important, and why I’m so excited to be writing an episode for season two. It’s a show with so much potential, combining genre stories and familiar monsters with exciting characters and moral dilemmas. And the urban Scottish setting sets it apart from London-centric dramas, and even rural fantasy like Wolfblood or In The Flesh. I’m so happy to have the opportunity to work with this passionate, talented team, bringing the world of PITS to life!”
The rest of the series will be penned by Laura Anne Anderson (CBBC's "OOglies), James T Harding ("Cupid of the Clyde"), Simon Underwood ("Wolfblood"), Philip Lawrence (Big Finish's "Doctor Who") and Fraser Coull (Cops and Monsters showrunner).
You can find out more about our series 2 writers at this link.
Our plan is to raise the full amount needed to shoot the new series, blocking out 18 days later in the year to film them. Then we'll set about casting the show, organising locations, crew, equipment, makeup, costumes, props and more. Then we'll shoot the 6 episodes and send them off to be edited, with sound effects and editing to be done and music added, then visual effects before being streamed straight onto Amazon Prime.
If you back this campaign you'll receive a private link to each episode we are able to produce from it.
Series 1 starred a mix of established and local actors from Scotland and the rest of the UK as well as stars such as Leona Kate Vaughan (Wolfblood/Stella), Simon Weir (Trainspotting 2), Sophie Aldred (Doctor Who), James Payton (Captain America), Rachel Teate (Wolfblood), Caitlin Blackwood (Doctor Who), Katrina Bryan (Nina and the Neurons) and James Mackenzie (Raven). We intend to bring back some of these guest stars alongside some brand new faces to the world of Cops and Monsters!
For the duration of this Kickstarter campaign you can watch all of series 1 below:
Series 1 varied in duration, with earlier episodes lasting between 7 and 15 minutes, with the remaining episodes around 24 minutes. Series 2 will be 6 x 20 minute episodes.
Below are the concept titles for series 2, created by Shervin Shirazian:
Scotland television is absent of anything like Cops and Monsters. The only sci-fi/supernatural show we have is Doctor Who, and that's made in Wales! We'd like to make our mark and join the ranks of Being Human, In the Flesh, The Fades, Primeval, Torchwood and beyond, and create an exciting, dangerous world of vampires, werewolves and zombies.
Having raised the funds to shoot 8 episodes for volume 1, our growing fanbase on Facebook and Twitter we know there is an appetite for a show like this, and so far we've had glowing reviews on Amazon Prime.
Not only does making a show like this allow you, the viewer, a chance to watch a brand new supernatural police thriller, but it allows us to make it for you. All of our actors, writers and crew who will be hired to work on the show will be a direct result of YOUR support.
When we held an open call for writers around the world to submit their scripts for series 2, we received over 350, with the majority of the writers applying because they were looking for an opportunity to work on the genre of this show.
We're also making it to prove that it can be done and that people will watch it. Hopefully catching the eye of producers, commissioners, and other important TV people out there, maybe leading to the show being re-booted with a proper television budget, or more work for the team who work so hard on the show.
We can't make this show without you, the fans, so if you can help us in anyway at all, it'll bring us closer to producing series 2.
At this time we can confirm that Ellen Patterson (Maya Hedges), Innes Anderson (Alexis Smith), Chris Bain (Jonathan Clark) and Billy Kirkwood (The Cult of Many Faces) will be starring in our brand new episode.
River City star Stephen Purdon has officially joined our cast and will be playing Private Jack Collin Bissett in series 2.
River City, Rab C Nesbitt and The Last King of Scotland star Barbara Rafferty has been confirmed to play the guest starring role of Heather Tulloch in or opening episode of series 2. You can find out more about Barbara's stellar career so far on her IMDb page.
River City star Louise McMenemy has just joined the show and will be playing the recurring role of Ava McIntyre, wannabe leader of the Uprising! We're delighted Louise has joined us and you can find out more here.
Still to cast is her on-screen husband Connor, and S.P.I.D.E.R.S Major Frances Stone to cast for this upcoming episode. We'll be approaching local actors and established, well known actors to guest star in these roles.
James Mackenzie (Raven) and Wendy Wason (Sherlock) starred in our series 1 finale as Neil and Lucy Hedges.
Katrina Bryan (Nina and the Neurons, Taggart) starred in two episodes as troubled werewolf Jenny. Again we're in talk to bring Katrina back for episode 2.
Doctor Who star Sophie Aldred played Lady Audrey MacDairmid, a powerful vampire Queen. We're in talks with Sophie to return for episode 6.
Wolfblood star Rachel Teate appeared in 3 episodes alongside Ellen Patterson. Rachel is due to return in episode 4 of series 2!
We're offering a wide range of perks from Cops and Monsters in return for your support. These include:

Risks and challenges
If we don't hit our funding goal, we'll be unable to commission any of our episodes.
We will of course look into further sources of funding, but this would be a brilliant start for us as it means we will have at least 1 new episode of series 2, which can be used to bring in further funding and support for the rest of the series.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
