COPS AND MONSTERS is a new on-going web series following the Paranormal Investigation Team Scotland (PITS) as they police vampires, werewolves and zombies in a near-future Scotland that is now home to the supernatural creatures. We are running this crowdfunding campaign is so that we can shoot and produce our 4th planned episode, out of 7 in total.
CROWDFUNDING UPDATE! (aka THE STRETCH GOALS)
Thank you EVERYBODY! We've managed to hit our target for episode 4 with 13 days left before our campaign ends. However the more money we raise the more episodes we will be able to produce. We've got 3 more episodes planned after our current production, and two spin-off episodes written by Roland Moore and Hannah George, which we will include in our DVD perk.
Stretch Goal 1 - The Episode 5 Goal! If we can raise £1660 by the 28th of February then we can go into production with episode 5. With the nature of the show, unless a production company comes along and want to take the show further, we will need to crowdfund each episode to make them. All £10+ backers will get a FREE SIGNED A3 PITS POSTER.
Stretch Goal 2 - Astrid's Secret! If we are lucky enough to raise £2300 not only can we make episodes 4 and 5, but also the 10 minute episode, "Astrid's Secret" by Roland Moore.
Stretch Goal 3 - To Be Unlocked if we hit Stretch Goal 1.
There are still LOTS of perks available including our exclusive poster designed by Stuart Manning, who designed the posters for Doctor Who series 8 and 9.
WE SHIP ALL PERKS WORLDWIDE AND FOR FREE!
Thank you to everybody who has pledged to the campaign, shared the link and supported the show!
What's The Story?
When a powerful werewolf, known only as Lycan A202, accidentally kills her protector and escapes, the PITS team is tasked with finding her and bringing her in to custody before it's too late. However the mysterious Cult of Many Faces plans to exploit the lycan's unique ability to transform without the influence of the lunar cycle. Meanwhile, the newly elected Deputy First Minister, Alan Smith, has his own vision for the country and has radical plans for the PITS team and their operations.
Who Is In It?
Our series so far has included Sarah Louise Madison (Weeping Angels, Doctor Who), Caitlin Blackwood (Little Amy Pond, Doctor Who), Rachel Teate (Kara, Wolfblood), Billy Kirkwood (Insane Champion Wrestling, School of Silence), Ellen Patterson, Simon Weir (The Acid House, River City), Kirsty Strain (River City, Burnistoun), Colin McCredie (Taggart, River City) with more cast to be announced throughout production.
We've also cast Doctor Who star Sophie Aldred in the role of Tina Hedges, Maya's understanding, yet concerned aunt. Sophie is best known for her role as The Doctor's companion, Ace, from 1987 to 1989.
What Have You Made So Far?
So far we have produced episodes 1, 2 and 3 of our planned 7 for this series, with each episode lasting between 5-15 minutes and now we are looking to fund and produce our latest episode!
What Will My Money Be Used For?
This crowdfunding campaign will allow us to produce episode 4, "In Crimson" - hiring our cast, crew, paying for special effect makeup (for our zombies, werewolves and vampires), helping us make and buy the costumes for the episode, commissioning a composer to score the episode, a visual effects animator and a sound designer.
Episodes 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 will make up "Volume 1" of our web series, following new recruit Maya Hedges on her first official case for The Paranormal Investigation Team Scotland.
The Spin Off Episodes!
To further expand the universe of Cops and Monsters, we've recruited two fantastic writers to work on two mini-episodes which will be set without our planned Volume 1 series.
Acclaimed award winning writer Roland Moore, who created the BBC 1 period drama "Land Girls" has joined our team and will be writing one of our special episodes while "Wolfblood" writer Hannah George will be writing the other.
As well as writing episodes of Wolfblood for CBBC, Hannah has also wrote episodes of "The Slammer" and additional material for Miranda Hart's first tour.
This 5 minute spin-off episodes are currently in the process of being put together and we can only make it if we hit our crowdfunding target. So, for everybody who backs £30 or more with their chosen perk (or perks!) will be given exclusive access to watch them online. It will be a private link and we will only be releasing it to backers and on our DVD perk.
If you'd like we can send you a DIGITAL COPY of the scripts before we shoot them as a way of saying thank you for choosing the perk.
Why Are You Crowdfunding?
We have promoted our show at Em-Con, MCM Comic Con and Sci-Fi Wales, and we are lining up more appearances in 2016 so we can screen a taster of our show, meet potential new fans of the show and spread the word of the project.
By funding our series independently through crowdfunding campaigns we are able to keep complete control of the show, allowing us to upload them to YouTube and Vimeo so people from ALL OVER THE WORLD can watch them for free. This is a show for nerds, by nerds. We all love Doctor Who, Torchwood, Supernatural, Arrow, The Flash, Being Human, The Walking Dead etc, so it's important to us to be passionate about the genre and create a show with characters you can love and hate, to tell stories that will keep you guessing.
Episode 4, "In Crimson", written by Iain Smith, brings us back to the world of the PITS team where we find relative newcomer Maya (Ellen Patterson) investigating a gruesome murder with her ex-boyfriend Martin Carmichael (Kenny Boyle), struggling to keep up with all the new rules and regulations she finds enforced on her team . Already under pressure from taking on the job as PITS leader, Maya's world comes crashing down when someone close to her is kidnapped by The Cult of Many Faces and held to ransom... but what does he want, and can Maya rescue her friend in time?
We will also introduce a more grown-up Alexis, aka "Lycan A202", last "seen" accidentally killing her protector and escaping, we find out what she's been up to and how her condition has effected her since her time with The Cult of Many Faces.
Who's In It?
"Doctor Who" star Sophie Aldred will be playing Tina Hedges, friend and aunt of Maya, who seeks out her niece to offer her a reassuring ear during her troubling time as a PITS member.
Scottish actress Ellen Patterson returns as PITS newcomer Maya Hedges, last seen in episode 3.
Comedian and actor Billy Kirkwood returns as the villainous Cult of Many Faces. He's waited a long time to play his game, and now he's ready.
Kenny Boyle returns as hacker with a heart, Martin Carmichael, who finds himself struggling with his feelings for Maya while working alongside her.
Chris Bain returns as the mischievous Minister of Justice, Clark, who has links to the Deputy First Minister, and will do anything to keep his position of power.
Scottish born actress Innes Anderson replaces Doctor Who star Caitlin Blackwood as an older, less-in-control Alexis, in episode 4.
What Do I Get For My Support?
In return for your donations we are offering signed scripts, associate producer credits on IMDb, signed cast photos, digital copies of the soundtrack, set visits, a chance to be in the episode itself, DVDs of episodes 1-4, exclusive behind the scenes access to interviews from the cast and crew and more...
Artist Stuart Manning has been commissioned to create an exclusive Cops and Monsters print that will be available as an A3 poster for you to purchase in return for your support.
With your help we can raise our £830 to shoot our episode and set it loose online for everybody to see. Each backer will get a private link to watch the episode a few days before it is released to the public.
Once our campaign ends on February 28th we will shoot the episode on the 19th and 26th of March and we will release it as soon as possible.
All of our episodes so far can be watched over on our official website.
Watch our music video from Scottish singer/songwriter Josephine Sillars, specially composed for our webseries.
If you can't donate then please do spread the word of our campaign, tweet the link to your friends, families, co-workers and so forth! The more people who hear about our show the more donations we can receive to complete our show.
Risks and challenges
If we are unsuccessful at raising our funds for episode 4 on this campaign then we will continue to seek out alternative funding in order to do so. We just want to raise as much money as possible to produce our final 4 episodes and complete this particular story.
Without funding we can't hire actors, crew, additional equipment, special effects makeup costs can't be covered, we can't get professional music composed or effects created or sound designed.
All of our team are professionals in the TV and film industry and as much as they are passionate about our project, they still need to keep the electricity running in their flat and feed their families and themselves.
We have a steady support of fans and followers on Twitter so we genuinely believe this project is worth everybody's time and money so we hope you'll back us.
As this is a web series with no-fixed filming schedule, some of our cast and crew may not be able to continue and we will need to re-cast and re-hire crew in order to film the remainder of our episodes but we hope this doesn't effect our turnaround time completely.
Once all of our funding is in place we can lock down our planned filming dates in a block when everybody is available and shoot our episodes and start releasing episodes on a monthly/bi-monthly basis before releasing them on a DVD.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
