The GripStick: The GripStick was born out of necessity. One day a friend asked if we could fix his daughters tablet that had a broken headphone jack stuck inside of it. Seemed like a doable request, until we quickly found out there is no easy solution. Out of that experience an idea to create a tool specifically to solve this common and pesky problem was born; meet the GripStick.
Like any other great tool, The GripStick looks deceptively simple, but there has been many hours of testing and development to come to its final form.
We have patent pending features that allow The GripStick to be effective and easy to use. The cylindrical shape allows the tool to be inserted in between the jack housing and the broken piece, physically isolating the piece from any friction against the jack walls. At the same time the split in the cylinder allows for manufacturing differences and also act as a kind of cylindrical pliers to grip the broken piece. The tight tolerances required were one of the major hurdles to overcome; like finding a supplier for a tube of the right size, wall thickness, and material hardness.
Risks and challenges
We feel that we have secured reliable raw material suppliers as well as manufacturing, and do not anticipate having any issues with production. We need the money in order to meet minimum order volume from the manufacturer. With your help, we will be able to meet our goals and start shipping orders by August 2015. If unexpected production or fulfillment issues arise, updates on our Kickstarter page will be posted promptly.
We thank you for your support in helping us bring this unique tool to life!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
