I'm a blind author, reaching out to the community to make my books available in audiobook format.
My project is to fund the creation of my books, Clandestine and Divinity into audio books. I am a new author, who recently debuted my first novel. It makes sense that my series would be available in an audio format. In fact, it’s slightly ironic that a blind person is an author and their books are not available in audio.
It has been my dream to write ever since I was a little girl. Now that I’m grown up, I’ve recently accomplished that dream. Now, I need my books to be available for people like me. I want the blind community to enjoy my series, as much as anyone else.
My first novel Clandestine is the first book in the Bound In Blood series. It has been out for a month now and is doing very well. It can be purchased at Amazon and Barnes & Noble in ebook or print.
Clandestine has stellar reviews and mostly five star ratings. You can view the reviews and ratings on many sites, including Goodreads, B&N and Amazon. Over 350 people have added it to their “to read” shelves on Goodreads. It has also been added to several listopia lists and has even been featured in a group read for Book Haven, such has almost 5,000 readers.

***REVIEWS OF CLANDESTINE***
J.D. Stroube, Author of Caged in Darkness rated it ***5 stars*** Nicole Rae is a refreshing author, who has taken the literary world by storm, against trails that seem insurmountable. Her passion to never give up, shows through the natural wit that she has given each of her characters. Emily is a spunky, spitfire of a teen with a natural charm. Sebastian is sexy in a bad boy, "I secretly want to jump your bones" kind of way! Tyler is the boy next door, who I couldn't help but love. I can't wait to see how this author grows and what she comes up with next!
Dreamscape Covers rated it ***5 stars***
If you're like me and loved the Buffy the Vampire Slayer television show that aired on the CW, this book will leave you just as addicted. Emily gives Buffy a run for her money as a kick *** heroine with sarcastic wit. This book is refreshing! The characters are a unique array and I absolutely LOVE that Lucy is blind. I don't think I have ever read a book with a blind character in it & have found that I really enjoyed it. Tyler is such a cutie and Sebastian is drool worthy! Mmmmm... okay, I'm going to stop drooling and start anxiously searching the web to learn the release date for Divinity!
Jessica Roe rated it ***5 stars***
I enjoyed Clandestine. I thought the plot and characters were amazing. There was a depth to the humor that seems to be natural and is rare for authors to have in spades.
Jo Henderson rated it ***5 stars***
Vampires really aren't my typical choice of reading. Clandestine blew through that barrier. I really enjoyed this book. It has a fast moving plot and great characters. I love that there is a blind character in this one. It was a refressing and pleasant surprise. I've heard that she will be even more involved in Divinity.
I have interviews lined up with bloggers, reviewers and have a marketing plan to further the success of my series.
The second book, Divinity will be out in December and is much anticipated. Divinity will delve further into the paranormal world and will feature Lucy, as the central character. Lucy is a blind teenager with a special... intuition. She is a bubbly, upbeat girl with an amazing outlook on life and is a roll model for anyone with a disability of any kind. Her attitude to never give up is something, we all can learn from. The novel switches back and forth between her perspective and the Emily’s.
Fans of my blog, have sent several emails requesting that the series be made in audio. Although, this has always been a dream of mine, I don’t have the funds. I am beginning my new career path, as an author and my bank account hasn’t seen the benefits yet.
I found the site ACX, which stands for Audio book Creation Exchange. They are an audio book distributor that helps connect authors with narrators. They offer an exclusive distribution channel that would put Clandestine and Divinity at Audible, Amazon and iTunes. Those are the most widely used retailers for audio books. Unfortunately, the production costs are far beyond the budget of a single mother of two, who is on a fixed income. Play the audio below to hear Melissa Strom's audition for Clandestine.
I know this project will be successful. The series is already in demand. I am asking for help in executing this dream and making it a reality. Any donation is appreciated. It means a lot to me and I will never forget the people that decide to contribute.
I am offering rewards for your valued donations. While they may not be extravagant, they are pretty awesome. I couldn’t afford much, but I tried to make each reward special. I hope that you like them.
Thank you for your time and also for checking out this page. I hope and pray that you decide to help, but even if you don’t, I’m still grateful to you. It really means a lot to me.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
The risk with all audiobooks is the chance that they may not sell, but I don’t believe this will happen. The series as already been requested for in audio. I have a heavy following and my fans alone would make this series successful. I also have several interviews lined up to help publicize the series. I have almost eight hundred followers on Twitter and almost five hundred between my two Facebook pages. Both of my blogs get several hits a day and I am strongly building a following on Goodreads. My friend list and fan list is growing every day.
Getting word out is always a risk, but I am planning to launch an advertisement on Goodreads, which is a hugely popular site for readers and book lovers alike. I am also sending my press release to bloggers, newspapers, and anyone who might help spread the word.
The three sites that the books will be distributed to are Audible, Amazon and iTunes. Those are the most popular and publicized retail sites for audio books, which I also believe will help get word out.
