Our Dark Eye is a "found-footage" mystery graphic novel set in the woods of northern Oregon in 1997. Two nature photographers, husband and wife Clyde and Evelyn Bandings set out on a weekend getaway to investigate what's causing strange formations in the wildlife. What they discover is something far more sinister and dangerous than they could imagine.
As an indie creator, the cost of production can be a hinderance in getting projects produced, so I wanted to turn to Kickstarter to help get this first round of printing done! The campaign funding goal is to cover the first print run of copies for this 260-page, perfect-bound, 7x7 inch book.
And like my first graphic novel I presented on Kickstarter, Our Dark Eye is already finished!
Our Dark Eye is my second graphic novel and like my first one, I wanted to experiment with graphic novel medium in a quirky and different storytelling way. It is told journal-style, through a series of found photographs and notes from our two main characters.
I want to keep it really simple when it comes to rewards as the main goal is to get the book printed and into your hands! You can choose from three different tiers:
1) The Greenery: You get a sincere Thank You and subscription to my newsletter to keep you up to date on Our Dark Eye and future projects!
2) The Evergreen: Get a signed copy of Our Dark Eye with an original sketch inside (this is only available for Kickstarter backers!)
3) The Oak: In addition to a signed copy of the book with an original sketch inside, you'll get an Our Dark Eye logo sticker PLUS a Kickstarter-exclusive sticker!
The Stretch Goal
Like the above reward tiers, my goal is to keep everything here simple since the main goal is getting a great book into your hands. That's why I'm only doing one stretch goal.
But it'll be pretty darn cool.
If we can get to $5000, I will be creating an augmented reality app for iPhone and iPad that will continue the story of Our Dark Eye in a really creative and unique way.
My name's Nick and I draw cartoons. In late 2017, I released my first full-length graphic novel and this year I'm back with another fun and original project.
Risks and challenges
The risks are fairly minimal as the book is finished as are the sticker designs. The only risks involved would be potential delays in printing production.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
