Welcome to MONTH #2 of my Song of the Month project! In case you missed month one, here's a little background on what I'm trying to do:
I've released 6 albums over the last 10 years and it's time to try something different!
I've often thought about a 'song of the month' club and have wanted to do it for a few years now. The traditional album model just doesn't seem to make sense to me anymore. I spend 2 years writing and recording, only do then have to wait another 2 years to let you hear new material.
By doing it this way, I'll be able to give you new music throughout the year and you'll hear my songs fresh from the writing desk :)
To be completely honest with you, after ploughing hundreds of thousands of dollars into the recording process these last ten years, the time has come to approach the way I record music a little differently. I can no longer take the risk of spending the money upfront on an album and 'hoping' that we get the sales and streams to break even.
So here we are. I hope to raise enough money each month to fund the recording and distribution process, get my producers, engineers and musicians paid and provide you great sounding songs in the process.
A song costs anywhere from $2000-3000 to record, each month I'm trying to raise $1599 of that, and I'll fund the difference myself.
Any remaining profits will go directly to a new charity each month. Seems like a good way to do a good thing.
So check it out, and see what you can do. I know this won't be for everyone and that's okay. I hope my fans want to keep hearing new music from me and see this as a good and fair way to do it. If you can donate $10 - awesome, it will go a long way trust me.
Every month, we'll have a Facebook Live concert to kick things off and I'll also be asking for your ideas and suggestions regarding the types of songs I write, so this is truly a collaborative process!
This month's Facebook Live concert will be on November 5th!
I hope that you like this idea and are able to support it. I have so many ideas I want to share with you and can't wait to get started :)
Risks and challenges
I understand that this is new territory for some of you, it sure is for me too! I think together though we can try something fun and we'll be pretty happy with the outcome!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
