About this project
Hello everyone! Thank you so much for stopping by my Kickstarter!
The Boast - A sound reflector for the iPad 2 and the new iPad.
The Boast is held on to your iPad with safe neodymium magnets. Each of the magnets connects to the internal speakers, providing more than 10 times the pull required to hold the Boast in place securely. Since there are two magnets, aligning the Boast for optimum performance is simple. Just get it close and let go. It adjusts to the perfect angle while maintaining the clean lines of the iPad’s edge. Once you're done and ready to pack up, just pop it off and toss it in your bag or pocket.
The Boast is made of Polypropylene Homopoly, making it both nearly unbreakable and incredibly rigid. Boast components will be manufactured in Minnesota and assembled in Columbia, South Carolina. All units are expected to ship in October 2012. The Boast is 100% made in the USA.
Input from family, friends, and other iPad users helped make the Boast its best.
With this being my first Kickstarter project, I've decided to break down the rewards as follows:
- Pay What You Wish You can pay whatever you think is fair for a Boast, including shipping. I've capped the Pay What You Wish at 250 backers, so tell your friends!
- $15 - A pledge of $15 will get you one Boast, shipped worldwide (add $5 for international shipping).
- $25 - A pledge of $25 will get you two Boasts, shipped worldwide (add $5 for international shipping).
With every funding level, you'll receive project updates through Kickstarter. I put the complete funding level of $15,000 based on my manufacturer's quotes. This will allow me to produce the Boast in both black and white. The first run will have custom packaging, designed by The Half and Half.
The video was shot and edited by my good friend Forrest Clonts.
The music featured in the video is from my southern family, Say Brother. They are amazing.
Thanks so much to Jay at the Jam Room for working with us in the studio!
We'll have a website launch after funding, and our twitter handle is @getaboast. Follow us for small updates!
Thanks so much, and I hope you'll help me bring the Boast to fruition!
Well, that comes down to you. If you'll notice, if every backer in the pay what you wish tier pledges $14, we won't even come close to the funding level. If you'd like to get a Boast for a discounted rate, share with your friends, family, blogs and tech sites.
Unfortunately we were unable to test every case out there (there are tons.), but as long as there is clearance around the speaker so the Boast can connect with the magnets, I see no reason it shouldn't work. It might not work as cleanly without a case, but we can't guarantee that every case will work.
