One of the problems with being an indie artist is you have a lot of cool, fun, ideas for future projects but not always the time or money to do them all in the timeframe you'd like. One GREAT thing about being an indie artist is that you don't have to wait for industry "gatekeepers" to sign off on these ideas to get the ball rolling!
I have the next 4 musical projects mapped out (and have started the writing and pre-production recording process on one of them) and need your help on the first three ideas. So instead of making three similar but different sounding records every two years, I've decided to trim the fat and make them into three EPs over the course of ONE YEAR. (Possibly less. But we'll see.) Here's the skinny:
EP 1: Futureboy
Yes, the title is a Back To The Future reference. But also the songs that I've been writing for it all line up with a common theme of time travel. Not necessarily in the literal sense, but in the way we let our minds wander to the pain and pleasure of the past, so often worry and wonder about the coming days, and lastly the struggle to be present in our every day lives. The production on this EP will be really fun and different from anything I've ever done before...in a GREAT way!
EP 2: Christmas collab Stacy Lantz
This past December, Stacy Lantz and I wrote a couple holiday songs and took them on the road to "beta test" the idea of making a record and doing more holiday themed tours. Well the shows were a blast, and the songs seemed to go over great, so we decided to make an EP of these songs to release around the time when you're ready for Christmas music.
EP 3: Strip It Down
Lastly, I've wanted to put out a record that was bare-bones production (acoustic, piano, and voices) for a while. These are always my favorite types of recordings, the ones where you feel like you're sitting on the floor 2 feet from the players and hearing each line like it was just written. Full of heart, stories, and honesty.
Risks and challenges
As you know if you've backed a Kickstarter project before, none of the money comes out of your account until the final number has been reached. It's more or less a pledge, until it's successfully funded. Furthermore, if the project doesn't get funded NONE OF THE MONEY goes to the project, which is super sad.
So a huge challenge here is to have faith that you guys will help make the project(s) a reality, since the recording process is already started not the first EP. This is mostly due to wanting to get it in your hands ASAP. Also the ideas are flowing out right now and I couldn't wait to get them down.
So view this Kickstarter as a pre-order with extra goodies! Any amount helps, so please pledge what you can! Thank you!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
