A little less than three years ago, I decided to take a leap of faith and get on a stage for the first time in front of a bunch of strangers and share a song I had written. Since then, I’ve been able to check a lot of things off my goal list: I recorded and released an EP, played a bunch of shows including opening for Joan Osborne in my hometown, and of course, I’ve been writing more songs.
In late 2016 I was introduced to Justin Douglas at King Electric Studio. He’s worked with some pretty heavy-hitters (Ray Bonneville, Chuck Hawthorne, Celine Dion) and I was lucky enough to have him help me get “Plotting the Constellations” out in to the world as an EP. It was an incredible experience and I learned a ton that day.
Fast-forward to the end of 2017...I had a batch of songs I felt strongly about and approached Justin again to see if we could make a full-length record. Next thing I knew, I were in the studio for three solid days tracking to tape with Will Sexton, Grant Himmler, and Chris Hausler. Jan Fleminng came in later to lay down some keys. Terry Klein (who co-wrote two of the songs) added some harmony. I even shipped one of the songs off to Nashville where Rod Picott recorded a duet vocal.
And that brings us to where we are now. I’ve got a fully-recorded album ready to be released into the world but I need your help. I'm very proud of we've created but there’s still a lot to be done: mixing, mastering, reproduction, and promotion. I’d love to be able to hire a publicist to help get the word out and share this record with as many people as possible. But most of all, I’d really love to share these tunes with you.
Risks and challenges
The record is fully recorded. Right now it’s being mixed. I'm going to release it one way or another, but with your help it will be heard by more people. We've made a budget to consider the various types of promotion and distribution options, and picked what we feel will be most effective. Any extra support will be put towards additional promotion and potentially releasing the record on vinyl.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
