The purpose of this Kickstarter is to raise the initial funds to develop The Hollywood Horror Museum, to obtain a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational status in California and present our first Walk Through Exhibit at Stan Lee's Comikaze in Los Angeles Oct 30-Nov 1.
By mid 2016, we plan to take our Hollywood Horror Museum on a worldwide tour, until we have the money to create a permanent location in North Hollywood California in 2018.
In March of 2015, when our Hollywood Science Fiction Museum www.hollywoodscifi.org was preparing for its 2016 exhibit, many Sci-Fi/Horror film props were offered to us including Alien and John Carpenter's The Thing. It became apparent these gory props had no place in a science fiction museum that taught NASA space and real science through sci-fi. But since there is no nonprofit educational Horror Museum anywhere in the world that teaches filmmaking, special effects, makeup and the history of horror in films, TV, art and literature, we decided to create our own.
In only one month we gathered some of the greatest names in horror to join our board of directors, and they helped formulate what The Hollywood Horror Museum would teach and how its exhibits should be presented.
The props included in our 2016-2018 traveling exhibit will depend on the space we are given from 8,000-20,000 square feet, but our permanent museum in tentatively 2018 will be enormous. We will constantly be looking for new items to add to our displays from private collections as well as productions studios and SPFX companies.
Permanent exhibits will include props and displays from: CLASSIC MONSTERS, CREATURES, ZOMBIES, GHOSTS, VAMPIRES, MUMMIES, WEREWOLVES, ITALIAN HORROR. PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR, ALFRED HITCHCOCK, STEPHEN KING, The Art of Special Effects, and the Gallery of Nightmares, which will include the most horrifying creatures of all time.
The Hollywood Horror Museum is meant to appeal to all ages, from those with a casual, to extreme interest in horror, to film historians and “gore hounds.” Mature display rooms with excess blood, gore and sexuality will have warning signs at the doors. Makeup classes will be taught daily, with artists from the top Hollywood make up schools and shops, showing guests the process of creating special effects: from drawing, sculpting, molding, painting, applying and more.
April 2015 Hollywood Sci-Fi Museum begins development for Hollywood Horror Museum, founding board members are chosen beginning with director/writer Tom Holland.
October 2015 First display at Stan Lee Comikaze booth with props from American Horror Story, Salem and other TV shows and films.
November 2015 File papers for Horror Museum 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational museum status, begin development for 2016 Traveling Exhibit, raise additional funds, seek additional props to display.
2016-2018 The Hollywood Horror Museum traveling exhibit tours with tentative locations including: Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Seattle, Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Montreal and Tokyo.
2018 Tentative groundbreaking for the permanent Hollywood Horror Museum beside the Sci-Fi Museum in North Hollywood California.

Risks and challenges
Other than the challenge of raising this Kickstarter goal, our biggest concern is spreading the word of our museum to millions of horror fans around the world. Fans will decide if there is enough interest to justify a permanent museum in Hollywood that is open year-round. We of course believe it's long overdue.
By using what we've learned from the Hollywood Sci-Fi Museum, and the "show biz savvy" of our founding board members, making the museum nonprofit, educational and fun, we believe the Hollywood Horror Museum can open in 2018 and sustain itself for years to come.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
