New Brooklyn Theater: Our Progress and The Future

To Our Kickstarter Backers –

Over the past ten days we’ve seen an outpouring of support for our cause, and we can’t begin to thank you for your pledges, words of encouragement and help in spreading the news of New Brooklyn Theater’s vision.

Your voice is beginning to be heard. We’ve been very busy at NBT headquarters meeting with politicians and community leaders who have heard that voice and are taking note.

They heard that you want Bed-Stuy to have the 57.5 jobs and $1,978,555 this plan will bring to the community every year. They heard that you believe that the chapter in history that this building represents is important and worthy of preservation. They heard that you want a new venue where you can discover your next favorite musician or writer, and perhaps even perform there yourself. They heard that the next generation should have a home, in which they can discover art and learn the value of culture.

See our recent press:

But there are some that want to turn a deaf ear. In the event that we don’t reach our goal, the theater is likely to become victim to condo or hotel developers due to its proximity to the growth from the Barclay’s Center, new home of the Brooklyn Nets.

So we're asking you to please speak up. Louder. Share our campaign with everyone, and continue to spread the word. If you’re not sure how, below is a note we've received from one of our first backers:

Sincerely,
Jonathan Solari
