Thank you for making Bring to Light a success!
Now help us recoup our costs so we can do it again next year!
Nuit Blanche, the global, all-night public art festival that began in Paris, Berlin and St. Petersburg and illuminates cities around the world, has arrived in New York City. For the first time ever, Bring to Light brought New Yorkers together for a community-based visual and performance art event that animated public space and illuminated the industrial waterfront of Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
This Saturday we had over TEN THOUSAND people attend the very first Nuit Blanche New York. We are overwhelmed and honored by everyone's support and enthusiasm for the project. Now, in the last week of our fundraising campaign we ask you to help us recoup some of the cost of this self-funded, volunteer-based project. Achieving our Kickstarter goal, although only a portion of the full cost of the event, will help us pay debts that allowed us to provide electricity, projection screens, projector supports and barriers, safety equipment, permit fees, electrician fees, advertising and program printing costs, portapotties and much more.
The rewards to the right are still in effect with the exception of the Patron's Preview - we'll mail you your goodies if you support us!
If you weren't able to join us please visit our website to see photos of the event. http://bringtolightnyc.org/ More than 60 artists and performers created site-specific installations, projections and performances along several blocks of North Brooklyn’s landmark architecture. Film, video and interactive media illuminated the facades of shipping warehouses, abandoned water towers and massive factories. Visitors were drawn through streets, parks and open courtyards by light sculptures, LED art and sound installations. A curated group of chefs and artisan food makers presented their creations in a dining room with reclaimed wood banquet tables within one of Brooklyn’s historic factory buildings. Finally, the event was broadcast live at a simultaneous Nuit Blanche event in Toronto.
Please support us in this last few days of our campaign so we can help pay our debts and start focusing on next year!
