Who doesn’t love morning cereal, pulp movies, and vengeful divas? We love them enough to make them our bride!
But since that’s not in the cards, we’ve gone for the next-best thing: combining them on some of our patented T-shirts.
And to sweeten the deal, we’ve collaborated with our long-time friends, the tattooed cosplay artists Erica Fett, Lua, and Neptune. We captured their pitch-perfect cosplay and individual personalities in a tribute to both one of our favorite genres and one of our favorite breakfast foods.
After hanging out at a comic con in Chicago last year and talking about our favorite films, we and the divas agreed that we had to make T-shirt designs.
Once the project is successful, backers will get T-shirts, art prints, enamel pins, buttons, original artwork, and much more.
Meet the team
Lua – She loves horror films, and it shows in her tattoos and cosplay. Lua loves interacting with her fans and always wears a different cosplay outfit for each day of a con.
Neptune – A "meme queen" on Instagram, Neptune is also known for her sense of humor and love of anime. She loves to attend comic conventions and anime expos. She also likes to support independent artists, and has been rumored to sleep in the artist alley during conventions.
Erica Fett – Nerdy by nature, Erica is one of the most sought-after cosplayers. She’s always friendly with her fans and creative with her costumes. She’s best known for her Star Wars tattoos and her Boba Fett cosplay.
Francis & Franco Te — The brothers founded Tee No Evil five years ago. Ever since, they have been hustling with their designs at art walks and at conventions. They also sell their T-shirts at comic book shops and novelty stores.
The art pieces are mashups between pulp film — which we all love — and our favorite morning cereals! The designs are fun and nostalgic. And, if you look closely, there are pulp-related Easter eggs splattered inside the designs.
Our first priority is to get the shirts into your hands by mid-June — we want you to have them in time for the summer!
As a supporter, you can pick your designs, sizes, and quantity. You can get one of each or mix and match. Or get all three! The choice is up to you!
With your pledge, you are pre-ordering a shirt of your choice and helping us keep the print cost down. Our shirt manufacturer will give us a price break if we order in bulk.
After the campaign, we’ll sell the designs at conventions and our website.
Each shirt reward will come in an exclusive mini cereal box.
Our soft shirts are 100% ring-spun cotton, designed for comfort. Each is screen printed to maximize design accuracy, brightness, and durability.
This particular series will also have custom size-printed label and a back print commemorating the campaign. The shirts will be available in unisex sizes S, M, L, XL, 2XL, and 3XL.
Aside from many sleepless nights and countless hours working hard on the designs, we've invested more than $1,500 in this project. Most of the funds went to getting newer equipment to fully customize the designs. In addition, we bought software to make digital conversion easier. We need your help for the final push to get the shirts printed!
The majority of the budget will go toward the shirt-printing expense. The rest of the funds will go to magnets, stickers, shipping costs, taxes, and Kickstarter fees.
Below is a breakdown of the cost:
When the project gets funded, we plan to use extra funds to create more designs and products for the series.
Kickstarter is a public crowdfunding site with an all-or-nothing philosophy. If we reach our goal, Kickstarter will collect the funds from the backers. If it does not reach the goal, the backers will not be charged.
Per Kickstarter's description:
Every project creator sets their project's funding goal and deadline. If people like the project, they can pledge money to make it happen. If the project succeeds in reaching its funding goal, all backers' credit cards are charged when time expires. If the project falls short, no one is charged. Funding on Kickstarter is all-or-nothing.
If I pledge on a tee reward, will it come in a cereal box?
Yes, it will. We want the rewards to be fun and memorable. You’ll also get other rewards with a shirt pledge.
When will I get my items?
We’ll ship them out in mid June. For international orders, it might take longer due to longer shipping time overseas.
Why is shipping overseas more expensive?
Overseas shipping rate has gone up again recently and we have no control over it. We do our best to keep the shipping cost down.
Risks and challenges
This is our second Kickstarter campaign, so we already know what we’re facing.
Shipping - We've already setup a date with our shirt manufacturer to have the shirts and cereal boxes printed as soon as the campaign is over, to make sure that you will receive it by mid June. We've also made sure that the other rewards, including the pins and magnets will also be ready by then.
Designs - We might add an extra color or refine an image but overall, it's 99% finished. What you see, will more likely, be the designs printed on your t-shirts.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
