Friday News Round-Up and Video Update!

Posted by Nerd Kingdom (Creator)

Hello Kingdom! In this episode: TUG’s news for the week, one of TUG’s many secrets possibly unearthed, and a new video highlighting TUG’s design!

TUG News Round-Up
FIRST WEEK: It’s been awesome! We’re over a third of the way to our goal with over three weeks left in our campaign, and we’ve got a lot of things lined up in the weeks to come that we hope will get everyone even more excited about TUG. So, before we do anything else, we want to thank everyone who’s backed us and joined our growing community of player-designers. We can’t wait to start working with you and designing this game together!

NEW TIERS: They’re on their way! We’re listening very closely to your feedback -- in comments here, on the official forums, and specifically in our last update -- and we’ll be adjusting tiers this weekend to account for your feedback. We’ll send out another update when the tiers go live. Definitely let us know what you think about the changes.

Community Interest
THE GODS OF TUG? There’s a great discussion going on over at the official forums regarding an image we have in the media library. Some players think they may have found the gods of TUG; others think they might be Seeds later on in their careers, and still others think they’re not gods, but demons!

While we can neither deny nor confirm these speculations (well, we could, but we’re not going to!), it’s probably best to simply restate what Ino said on the forum thread: “Every detail matters ;)”

OK! I LOVE the new stuff XD not sure if that tattoo idea was in any way influenced by what i had said in the old update but it captures what i was trying to say perfectly. having a physical distinguishing mark for alpha and beta testers feel like it will be much more organic and meaningful then something like a hat and the saber cat is just frosting on the cake.

Holy balls.... guys.. that two page interview with ZAM? Yeah... that was good.. very good. Going to use that on some of the threads ive been making.

In the video, there was mention about crafting items for 3rd person and FOV, does that mean the FOV is going to be locked or will it be adjustable in the options? Sorry if this was brought up somewhere before.

GOOD! nice upgrade, i liked all i heard, just a quaestion, you talked about companions, but just golem (maybe someone asked same things on a the argument, not sure) but the player can have animals too? The girl say something after the golem part but i hear something like "other companions at some point" because from the video seems you will have the first creatures and then golem, but i thought there would be even other categories.
And the wolf man ... the place you put in the picture seems like a demon, maybe like in minecraft during the night demon appear, and you already said in previous upgrades and info that the game would have demons, so i think the creatures in the concept are more or less demons, mybe not all to be fought.

That's a good point, Peter. TUG will never, ever have any kind of subscription fee!

I see from the selection of articles that I was not the only one to think TUG lacked an offline option. Very much suspect that letting TUG be labeled by observers as an "MMO" swiftly turned away many otherwise interested potential backers who would cheerfully have embraced a "sandbox rpg" that happens to offer multiplayer.

If the KS fails, a 2'nd run insisting TUG is NOT an MMO may make a world of difference. MMOs have a bad rep of F2P microtransactions or subscription, guarantee a complete loss of time investment and property when the servers go dark and "aint nobody got time for that". These things do not apply to TUG but any reader who sees those letters will think it does. It is an artillery shell to the foot.

@Amber, we're going to announce new reward tiers tomorrow, actually, so check back!!!!

Looks wonderful! I'm glad to have something more concrete to show off to my friends. I have a question about the tiers. I'm in at 65, and it looks like the 75 is new... I would love two copies to gift out (and for an additional 10 bucks that's an excellent deal)! However, I also don't want to pay 15 for international shipping since that bumps it up and I'm not necessarily fond of the physical products... are you guys planning on a tier that allows for alpha and giftable copies, no physical goodies included?

Oh man... I need this game in my now.

THANK YOU. I can finally show people something. Won't lie, most interesting thing to me in that was the podling. I like that. You guys seem interested that were interested in gods, demons, spirits or possibly advanced seeds. And we should be, it sounds pretty cool to me.
